Chapter 39

Author's Note on the Launch of Chapter 39

Author's Note on the Launch of Chapter 39

After spending a few years away from home, I'm back on Qidian to write a book, and it will finally be available for purchase tomorrow (Friday).

As is customary, it seems that everyone should write a statement before the product is released.

Most of the product launch testimonials I've seen before involve playing the victim.

This puts me in a dilemma...

First, the novel "Beast Taming" is based on a lighthearted, humorous, and quirky style, and then unfolds a grand and magnificent fantasy world. I'm worried that playing the victim will ruin this atmosphere... What I want is for readers to enjoy the book. If readers suddenly have a victim-playing author's release statement, wouldn't that be disgusting?

Secondly, people in middle age often experience hardship and misery. They dare not feign suffering because it is too tragic... Poor people don't want others to know they are poor, and so do those who are miserable.

So, after thinking it over and over, I decided to just go through my experiences over the past few years.

After all, this experience is closely related to writing novels, and there's no way to avoid it.

After seeing this and comparing the two, perhaps everyone can cherish their current peace and happiness even more?

The nightmare began when I started my business in 09...

Before starting my own business, I worked a regular job while also doing software development part-time. In the year before starting my own business, software sales earned me 190,000 yuan.

Back in 08, I was doing part-time work to earn extra money, and I felt really good about how much I made.

However, things weren't going well at work, and my ambitions started to grow, so I started my own business (Never start a business lightly! Never start a business! Never start a business!).

What was his first business venture? Simply put, he started a company that bought in-game currency earned by Chinese players and then sold it to foreigners... Many readers will find this familiar, as the practice of farming in-game currency is still prevalent today.

In the initial stages, we did make some money.

But soon, the game began to crack down on gold coin trading, and then, as a middleman, this kind of thing started happening... After buying 5 gold coins from players, the account was banned.

The money has turned to ashes.

Not a single bubble appeared.

What should I do?

Left with no other choice, they transformed their business and started trading in bags and luggage.

After a period of trial and error, things got on track and we did start making money, but for various reasons, sales suddenly plummeted.

Finally, unable to sustain the business any longer, they moved from the city center to the suburbs to save costs (they should have done this a long time ago).

In order to recoup funds, a women's bag made for 85 yuan was sold in bulk to a stock collector for 20 yuan each... 1000 bags at a time were released. Millions of yuan worth of inventory could not be sold for much money. It was heartbreaking.

At the most difficult time, we couldn't even afford the rent, and we still had a lot of inventory.

In the end, my wife asked her father for a loan of 5000 yuan to tide her over.

That was my darkest moment...

I had no money and dared not hire anyone else, so I did all the work myself. Business was bad, but there was always so much to do every day... My wife was pregnant, and neither of our parents were here. I was taking care of my wife while desperately trying to make money.

During that time, I felt like a walking corpse.

But I know I can't fall, I absolutely can't fall!

If it collapses, what will happen to my wife? What will happen to my children? What will happen to the elderly in my family?

I gritted my teeth and held on...

Two failed business ventures left him with a mountain of debt, a devastating blow that took him many years to recover from.

I persevered until 2014, when I started to get involved in the online literature industry (I had read countless novels since I was a child, but I had never written one).

To me, writing novels to earn money while doing business is like having an extra way to make money.

My first goal for myself was to earn more than 3000 yuan a month with my first novel, because that was the average monthly salary for a decent job in my city at the time (2014).

I feel that as long as the royalties for that book can reach more than 3000 a month, it will be a success.

Moreover, if things stabilize, it will solve my immediate problem.

Fortunately, the first book quickly reached its goal, although there were many twists and turns along the way, but that was nothing.

Moreover, it's about to be featured on the big screen.

With my grades at the time, getting this recommendation would easily have brought me over ten thousand yuan a month in royalties. I was really looking forward to it and very excited... After two failed startups, I hadn't earned that much money in a long time.

Moreover, I'm still a complete newcomer to the online literature world, so I'm very happy and satisfied to have achieved this level.

Unfortunately, the good times didn't last long, and the entire online literature world began to sweep away pornography.

I'm not afraid, because I write traditional fantasy, not some kind of imperial romance.

As a result, the website where I published my novel shut down, and even the server was shut down... shut down... I'm so pissed off...

Fate really knows how to play jokes.

Instead of hitting me with a club, he stood in front of me and smashed it down on my head, leaving it bleeding profusely. Then he sneered and drifted away.

There was no other way but to leave. At a friend's invitation, I started writing a fantasy novel called "The Strongest War Emperor" on Qidian (QQ Reading) and continued to push forward.

My grades kept improving, and my royalties almost exceeded 10,000 yuan in the first month. I felt like my second spring had finally arrived.

I stopped thinking about anything else and focused on doing business while writing, immersing myself in the fantasy world I had created.

This also allows me to temporarily forget the pain of failing in my business venture.

"The Strongest War Emperor" has reached 540 million words, and it is the best book I have written so far.

Although there are certainly various unsatisfactory aspects, it is indeed a work that has been poured into, and I have completely immersed myself in the emotions... I have always felt that when an author immerses himself in emotions, a novel will have a spirit, and a novel with a spirit will never be too bad.

However, my decision to finish the book at over 540 million words was still related to my own financial situation... Because I was burdened with debt, I wanted to earn more money; I desperately needed it.

So, I wrote a book outside and had it sold out for a good price.

My ideal situation at the time was to write a new book, receive the money from the buyout, and still have a considerable amount of royalties from the already completed "The Strongest War Emperor"... With both books combined, although I couldn't compare to the top authors, I was already quite satisfied.

If this situation continues for a year or two, my life will be completely changed.

Tragedy struck again; they've started sweeping the emperor's grave again...

Readers who have read this far are probably going crazy... So what if you're sweeping away the emperor? What does it have to do with you? Isn't this just fantasy?

It's fantasy, a very pure fantasy, so pure that I didn't even dare to write the word "bed." When the protagonist cultivates, he's either sitting on a stool or on the ground.

Even after the protagonist became the supreme ruler in the finale, controlling time, space, past, and future, he was still a virgin.

I'm so innocent that I even use the single-person radical when I write "赤倮倮" (a character with a red, naked body), and readers point out that it's a mistake.

Even so, it still didn't escape... If a book contains such words, like "level 3," and if the "3" is replaced with "three," the word becomes "**," and if there are too many of these words, the entire chapter will be blocked.

If too many chapters are blocked, a book will be taken down and can no longer be seen outside of bookstores.

That's it, I'm doomed. The book was selling well through many channels, and I was happy to receive my royalties after it was finished. Suddenly, it was like a cliff, and everything was gone.

A book of over 540 million words, written over several years, and still making money after its completion, is gone just like that.

That's fantasy!

I truly hate those guys who write pornographic novels.

They made their money and left in style, but they dragged me, who writes fantasy novels, into this cesspool of misery and condemned me to eternal damnation!

You can't avoid them no matter where you go.

Wherever I go, I'm dragged down by them!

But what could be done? "The Strongest War Emperor" was finally released, but its peak was over, and it could no longer be found on many platforms. Even if it was found, there was no one to recommend it anymore...

Okay, that's enough venting.

Time has passed, and although I have accomplished nothing, I have finally emerged from the nightmare and the darkest hour.

Business is so-so these days, with peak and off-peak seasons, but at least I can afford to eat and save some money.

I've started this new book, and I'm not entirely satisfied with the results. It didn't make it into the top recommendations like the Three Rivers and Strong Recommendations, but for now, I can still keep writing it...

Some authors, if their grades don't meet the requirements, will simply abandon the project and start a new one.

My approach is to write steadily once I can see an upward trend, and continue writing until I reach my target!

Moreover, my editor, Lu Ming, kept reviewing the beginning of the book before it was published to keep track of the plot; after it was published, he kept an eye on the data and helped me with the recommendations... To be honest, it's not easy to find a good editor when writing a novel, and I feel very fortunate to have such a warm-hearted editor.

Then, as the author, all I have left to do is focus on writing and developing the story.

Editor Lu Da also comforted me, telling me to take things one step at a time and not to overthink it.

So I put aside a lot of random thoughts and wanted to focus on writing this book, making it good, long, and exciting.

This book was started on September 9.3rd, and after 42 days and more than 25 words, it's finally going to be available on the shelves.

The outline and other materials for this book probably exceed 25 words, so readers don't need to worry about suddenly finding that updates have stopped...

Right now, all I want to do is focus on writing, immerse myself in the story, and use a lighthearted, humorous, quirky, and exciting style to build the fantastical world in my mind and to write down the diverse characters in my imagination.

If you burst out laughing or smile knowingly while reading this, I'll feel like I've succeeded.

If, as you read on, your blood boils and you also want to enter this fantasy world, fight alongside the characters, and laugh and joke with them, then I will feel that I have succeeded.

If you find yourself unable to forget the characters and plot while reading, and start to resent my slow updates, I'll feel like I've succeeded... Of course, I'll definitely work harder to write more and update more often.

In addition, I often notice in the author assistant backend that many readers hardly comment, but vote every day or secretly give rewards... I even remember the nicknames of many readers.

Thank you so much for your silent attention, for reading so diligently, and for your silent support.
