Chapter 2

: The Mamba Knight

Not sisters? Are you sure you're not mistaken?

Qiao Ye had considered that he might hear some outrageous answers.

For example, the blue pill has the same effect as the red pill, except that it is blueberry flavored.

Or: Slap the high-dimensional observer who is observing this world.

But I really didn't expect it to be this outrageous.

Qiao Ye remained silent for a long time until the maidservant began to urge him.

"So, have you made your choice?"

"...I choose the big one."

Who could resist choosing this?

Qiao Ye took the blue pill from the maidservant and swallowed it.

The next instant, his vision suddenly collapsed inward, and his consciousness was dragged into a dark, deep sea.

When he opened his eyes again, Qiao Ye was already riding on the back of a skinny horse.

The cold wind, carrying snowflakes, lashed against my face.

Before me lay a muddy forest path, flanked by twisted, dead trees.

He looked down at himself: deerskin boots, leather armor, and two swords on his back—a steel sword and a silver sword.

Just as the Dream Maiden had said, the equipment was complete.

"What are you spacing out for?"

Suddenly, a deep voice came from the side.

Qiao Ye turned his head.

A tall man sat on a very strong black horse.

He was nearly two meters tall, wearing a yellow jersey with the number 24, and even sporting a helmet with a visor like those worn by medieval knights.

After the mask was lifted, a smiling face that Qiao Ye was extremely familiar with was revealed.

"Kobe Bryant?"

"Just call me the Mamba Knight," Kobe said.

"I don't know how you know my full name, but as a newbie, you can't just call someone by their name. Some demons remember your name."

It took Qiao Ye a long time to process this reality.

Kobe Bryant, now disguised as a witcher, is riding alongside him on a medieval-style country road.

That's too abstract, buddy.

"Where are we going?" Qiao Ye couldn't help but ask.

"You've already forgotten the mission you just received?" Kobe looked at Qiao Ye suspiciously.

The system notification finally arrived late, popping up in the corner of Qiao Ye's field of vision:

[Current Dream: Another World - Karen Ringdis]

[Character: Qiao Ye]

[Identity: Demon Hunter Apprentice (Temporary)]

[Partner: Mamba Knight (Legendary Demon Hunter)]

Objective: Hunt down the ghoul leader and unlock the extraordinary class 'Witcher'.

The hint has been hidden.

Kobe had already turned onto a side road.

"Let's go to Riverwood."

His voice was carried on the wind, "Three days ago, the town's cemetery was dug up. The captain of the guard posted a commission at the tavern, with a reward of five silver coins."

Qiao Ye urged his horse to catch up.

The road grew narrower and narrower, while the woods became increasingly secluded, and even the snow had an unnatural, somber hue.

Riverwood was more dilapidated than I had imagined.

The wooden fence was crooked and the guards were wrapped in dirty cloaks.

Kobe stopped at the town entrance and took off his helmet.

The guard captain was taken aback by that face.

"The legendary demon hunter, the Mamba Knight?!"

The captain was surprised and doubtful; he hadn't expected that a commission of five silver coins could bring him such a person.

"it's me."

Kobe nodded and dismounted.

He first introduced Qiao Ye: "This is the rookie rider."

Then, getting straight to the point: "Take us to the cemetery."

The captain nodded repeatedly: "Alright, you two, follow me!"

The cemetery is located on a low hill west of the town, and the graves inside have been completely destroyed.

The soil was freshly turned over, with obvious inhuman scratches on the edges.

Kobe squatted down, rubbed his fingers across a bit of dark green sludge at the edge of the pit, and then rubbed it.

"It smells very authentic."

He stood up. "It's a ghoul. If I'm not mistaken, there should be a ghoul's lair around here."

"So what do we do next? Should we just go over there?" Qiao Ye asked.

"Let's find a place to stay first."

Kobe, acting as a strategist, shook his head and said, "The ghouls' lairs are all underground; going to find them is a thankless and arduous task."

"Let's wait until nightfall to lure them out and wait for them to come out."

They settled in an abandoned mill on the edge of town.

Kobe checked the doors and windows, then sat down and closed his eyes to rest.

Qiao Ye took a break just like him.

Night fell quickly, and Qiao Ye and Kobe returned to the cemetery.

Kobe took out a bottle of light red medicine and poured a few drops into the grave.

He didn't forget to teach her along the way: "This is a corpse-scented potion, a very effective bait for ghouls."

Once the preparations are complete, it's time to find a place to wait.

Kobe chose a tall tombstone and crouched down in its shade, took the two swords off his back, and casually leaned them against the side.

Then he started moving his wrists and stretching his shoulders and back, just like he was warming up before a game.

Qiao Ye was taken aback: "You don't use a sword?"

"Swords aren't for me," Kobe said.

Time passed slowly in silence.

Just as Qiao Ye began to doubt whether there was a mistake, a sound came from the depths of the forest.

When the first ghoul crawled into the edge of the cemetery, Qiao Ye's stomach churned.

It resembled a human figure that had been bloated by water and then dried out, with rotten and festering skin that was nauseating.

The ghoul crawled straight to the empty grave, poked its head in, and sniffed greedily.

Then came the second one, the third one...

Six in total!

They were completely unaware of the two people behind the tombstone.

Just then.

Kobe moved.

Without any warning, he sprang from the shadows like a black lightning bolt.

In an instant, he was right behind the nearest ghoul.

He bent his right elbow and slammed it hard behind the ghoul's ear.

Click.

The sound of bones cracking rang out.

The ghoul didn't even utter a sound before collapsing to its knees.

The other ghouls were startled and pounced with hooting cries.

Kobe's footwork glided swiftly, not like he was in a battle, but more like he was practicing an extremely efficient set of footwork.

He put his fists in front of his chest, assuming a boxing stance.

Whenever he dodged a ghoul's attack, he would quickly deliver an elbow strike.

An elbow strike is as sharp as a knife!

Each elbow strike precisely shattered the head of a ghoul.

Qiao Ye was stunned.

This was nothing like the sword-and-magic duel he had imagined.

That's... an elbow strike!

A precise, ruthless, and deadly killing technique with no unnecessary movements!

In less than two minutes, the corpses of the five ghouls lay quietly on the ground.

Only the last one, which was slightly larger, was still trying to climb into the forest.

Kobe chased after him, leaped high into the air, and then slammed his elbow down.

The king descended from the sky, his face contorted with rage and ferocity!

boom--

The ghoul's head was smashed open like a watermelon, and it was completely lifeless.

Kobe stood up, shook the dirt off his hands, and remained calm.

"sharp……"

Qiao Ye couldn't help but sigh.

Is this the legendary Demon Hunter?

His elbow strikes always draw blood; his skill is truly extraordinary.

At that moment, Kobe had already come to his side.

"Well done! Mamba Knight!" Qiao Ye praised.

"There's nothing to be happy about; the work isn't finished yet."

Kobe shook his head.

"There's no leader among these ghouls, so the mission isn't complete yet. The commotion just now was quite loud; the leader has probably already hidden himself. We need to go find him; there's no rush."

Kobe glanced at Qiao Ye and suddenly said, "Judging from your expression just now, you seem interested in boxing? Want to learn? I can teach you."

Boxing?

Is it an elbow strike?

Qiao Ye hesitated for a moment, knowing that his dream would only end with the hunt for the ghoul leader and wouldn't last long.

Do we really have time to learn skills?

Just then, a system notification popped up:

[Kobe is teaching you the "Mamba Mentality," do you want to learn?]

Oh? Qiao Ye's heart skipped a beat.

So there was this kind of setting?

"I want to learn!"

"good!"

Kobe didn't hold back either, explaining the key points of the Mamba Mentality.

You have learned the "Mamba Kung Fu", current level LV1 (0/500)

"Did you remember? Do you need me to repeat it?" Kobe asked.

"I've already learned it," Qiao Ye said.

"You've learned it?" Kobe frowned. "That's no way to brag! Show me how!"

What do I have to brag about?

Qiao Ye muttered to himself, and immediately practiced the Mamba Boxing Technique once.

After a few sets of elbow strikes, he really did look quite skilled.

Kobe was stunned by what he saw.

I've really learned it...

"Could he really be a genius?"

Kobe was already starting to lose control, but he didn't show it on his face.

He coughed lightly and said, "It's not bad, but it's nothing to be proud of. Learning boxing is just the beginning."

"You have to train relentlessly, dedicate all your energy, and never stop to become a legend!"

Kobe said all he had to say and didn't want to dwell on the topic any further.

He looked up at the starry sky.

"It's four in the morning," he said. "Let's go find the ghoul leader."
