Chapter 145
The Rotten Chessboard is Activated! Ancient Buddhist Cultivation Method
The Three Generations and Ten Directions Decree!
Within the sea of consciousness, a token with an ancient yet magnificent design slowly rotated.
It is situated within the framework of the "Comprehensive Mirror of All Trades".
This token is a backup plan left by the Bodhisattva.
Pei Si thought to himself, "Could this opportunity be the Three Lives and Ten Directions Token?"
The Bodhisattva lowered his gaze and smiled, "I see you have a chessboard with a rather ingenious design; may I borrow it to take a look?"
Pei Si knew that the Bodhisattva was referring to the Rotten Chessboard.
He took out that chessboard.
The chessboard has nineteen lines, with many lines and markings, clearly showing its long history.
The Bodhisattva took the Rotten Chessboard, examined it, and exclaimed in admiration, "The one who created this path is truly a genius. This chessboard can allow you to enter the dream world."
"Fellow Daoist, you and I are destined to practice Buddhism."
Pei Si clasped his hands together and smiled, "Bodhisattva, someone once said those words to me."
The Bodhisattva shook his head. "It has nothing to do with that evil monk."
"I see that you will practice my Dharma in the future, and your attainment will be quite high."
Pei Si squinted slightly, placing one hand on the chessboard.
If one wishes to cultivate the Dharma of Shakyamuni, what goal could be more suitable than this Shakyamuni who has attained the Bodhisattva state?
Furthermore, having multiple identities means having multiple paths.
If what this Bodhisattva said is true in the future, he will lead the four Dao states of the Azure Netherworld to launch a karmic war against the Corpse Immortal, which should be quite influential.
Look at his clone now.
Jiang Mingzi served in the army of the Daqian Dynasty, specifically under the command of the Fifth Commander Xun. In the war against the Daxuan Dynasty, he was able to easily be granted a title simply by participating in the conquest of half of Daxuan's territory.
Gao Yubi joined the Shushan Sword Sect with the intention of developing into a pure sword cultivator.
Bai Guanxing has joined the Tai Xuan Fu Dao Palace, a top sect in the Great Yan Dynasty, and is now qualified to compete for the position of the new generation's Dao Child.
Therefore, Pei Si would also help Bai Guanxing eliminate his competitors along the way.
Reliable intelligence indicates that Bai Guanxing's two biggest rivals have arrived at the Xia King's Secret Realm.
If Pei Si were to witness this, he would have no choice but to take drastic measures to punish the lower-level cultivator.
Pei Si had already made arrangements in advance.
If one can cultivate the methods of Buddhist practice, relying on Pei Si's greatest reliance in this life, the "Comprehensive Mirror of All Trades," one will also achieve remarkable success.
As long as he completes the promotion task step by step, that's fine.
"Bodhisattva, please forgive me," Pei Si said in a low voice.
The Bodhisattva also rests one hand on the chessboard.
The Rotten Chessboard was activated, and the nightmare energy accumulated within it vanished instantly.
Pei Si entered the Bodhisattva's dream.
.........
Shushan Sword Sect.
Gao Yubi also killed a sea beast and entered the inheritance secret realm.
Sword City in the far west of the Great Xia Dynasty.
Gao Yubi became a mid-level sword cultivator.
He met Pei Min, the leader of the sword cultivators in the far west sword city.
The surname is the same as the original, Pei.
Today, he was summoned to a grand hall.
Pei Min is here.
A long sword was hanging on the wall behind him.
He wasn't about to have any great luck.
If Pei Min recognizes your talent, you should nurture it further.
Beside Gao Yubi were dozens of sword cultivators.
Information about these people appeared in Gao Yubi's mind; their cultivation levels varied.
It involves sword cultivators of all three levels: lower, middle, and higher.
These people fought alongside their natives, battling demons and monsters.
Therefore, they are very familiar with each other.
In places like Sword City, where life and death hang by a thread, everyone is risking their lives, so Pei Min doesn't strictly discipline them.
Strength is paramount, and this leader possessed the highest swordsmanship and was also a skilled poet, which is why the other sword cultivators respected him.
Pei Min coughed, and the hall fell silent instantly.
All the sword cultivators' eyes fell on Pei Min.
Pei Min smiled and said, "Please don't be nervous, everyone. There is a matter that the dynasty needs you to handle."
"The highest rank, is it because King Xia specifically ordered the killing of a particular great demon?" a lower-ranking swordsman asked, holding a longsword in his arms.
Gao Yubi recognized this lower-ranking swordsman; he called him Xie Tingfeng, and they had a fairly good relationship.
Pei Min held up one finger, waved it from side to side, shook his head, and said, "Kill the embryo."
"I have summoned you all here to temporarily transfer you away from Sword City."
"King Xia intends to forge a celestial sword. Please return to protect the sword-forging cultivators. That's all."
Pei Min fixed his gaze on the cultivators in the hall.
These monks were all carefully selected by him based on the files.
With an innocent background, he showed no mercy in killing demons.
"Understood, Jiwei. When do we depart?" a high-ranking swordsman asked.
"Now." Pei Min smiled slightly, and the long sword behind him suddenly drew out, opening up a passage.
All sword cultivators stepped onto the passage.
On the road.
Xie Tingfeng and Gao Yubi chatted idly.
"Old Gao, if one day the world is at peace, what would you most like to do?" Xie Tingfeng asked this question as he walked side by side with Gao Yubi.
Gao Yubi was taken aback, then said, "Quiet meditation will make my swordsmanship even better and stronger."
This was his obsession.
Wear the best sword and unleash the strongest sword techniques.
Xie Tingfeng threw his head back and laughed heartily, saying, "Just as I thought, you are truly obsessed with the way of the sword."
"If it were me, I would never take this swordsmanship to the grave."
Gao Yubi smiled slightly: "Everyone has their own ambitions. You want to take on a disciple and pass on your swordsmanship. That's fine too."
Xie Tingfeng shook his head, put his hands behind his head, and said, "It will be even bigger than this. I want to establish my own sect and recruit many disciples."
"So that everyone is qualified to learn swordsmanship and can effectively protect themselves."
Gao Yubi nodded and asked, "Establishing a sect, that's quite an ambitious statement."
"Do you have any clues about the name of this sect?"
Xie Tingfeng: "I'm not the only one in Sword City who has this idea; Liu Ren is another one."
"After some discussion, we decided that each of us would pass on a lineage of swordsmanship, and we'd call it the Seven Absolute Sword Sect. What do you think of that name?"
Seven Absolute Sword Sect.
Gao Yubi's pupils contracted slightly.
Yo.
Isn't this the Seven Absolute Sword Sect, the super power of the Great Yan Dynasty?
The Seven Absolutes Sword Sect held a position in the Great Yan Dynasty equivalent to that of the Shu Mountain Sword Sect in the Great Qian Dynasty.
Today I had the pleasure of meeting the founding patriarch of the Seven Absolute Sword Sect.
Gao Yubi had an idea in her mind.
On ordinary days, he also discussed Daoist principles with the disciples of the Shushan Sword Sect.
The advancement condition for a sword cultivator is to discuss the Dao with a thousand other sword cultivators.
Sword cultivators [Blue] can acquire the Daoist art [Transformation into Sword].
"【Transform into Sword】: Can transform into any swordsman seen, mastering their swordsmanship, sword comprehension, etc., and can possess 70% of the killing power of the transformed swordsman!"
Currently, Gao Yubi has discussed the Dao with more than 400 sword cultivators.
"This is also a matter of chance."
Gao Yubi glanced at the backs of the sword cultivators and licked her lips.
.........
Pei Si transformed into a woman.
"I wonder which incarnation of this Bodhisattva I am now." Pei Si looked around at the surroundings. The furniture was exquisite, and there were paintings with a romantic feel hanging on the walls.
They must be from a wealthy family.
Even now, Pei Si still doesn't dare to believe that the Bodhisattva was Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva.
Although many characteristics are consistent, it is very likely that it is just a similar flower.
"Miss, your meal is ready. Please proceed to the dining room."
A calm female voice came from outside the door.
This is the maid, Ah Xiang.
Pei Si nodded slightly and went downstairs to the restaurant.
The large dining table was laden with all sorts of delicious dishes.
Pei Si's gaze swept over the delicacies on the table, his brows furrowing slightly, almost imperceptibly, before disappearing.
My father and younger brother went on a long trip.
Now only she, her mother, and a few servants remain in the house.
River seafood made up the majority of the dishes on this table.
My mother loved to eat fish roe and turtle eggs. The dinner table was often filled with fish roe from all sorts of fish.
In Pei Si's memory, this place is a hell and has the six realms of reincarnation.
Buddhist monks occupy high positions, which allow them to manage temples and also serve as officials.
"Xiao Mu, try the freshly caught female fish roe. It's the season when female fish are spawning, and the roe is at its plumpest."
A voice rang out from behind Pei Si.
Pei Si turned his head.
There was a woman who looked to be in her thirties, with a mature and elegant demeanor. His body was covered with gold and silver jewelry wherever possible.
Pei Si forced a smile and said, "In this season, doesn't Mother think it's against the natural order to eat female fish that are about to give birth?"
Pei Si spoke almost instinctively.
That was precisely the Bodhisattva's answer at that time.
She stepped forward, put her arm around Pei Si's neck, and said affectionately, "Xiao Mu, I think you've been reading too much Buddhist scriptures."
Why are there so many rules?
If one were to merely eat fish roe, it would be a grave sin, leading to suffering in hell after death.
What about the fishermen? They're just trying to make a living. If we didn't pay them, they would all starve to death. Does that mean they're also guilty of some heinous crime?
Besides, eating female fish that are about to give birth, or female fish that haven't given birth yet, is killing.
What's the difference between the two?
Hell exists, as does the cycle of rebirth in the six realms.
The so-called six realms are: gods, humans, asuras, hell beings, hungry ghosts, and animals.
Based on the judgment of good and evil deeds in their past lives, those beasts were inherently sinful, and eating them was their fate.
"Aren't we freeing them from this predicament?"
Pei Si: "????"
Should I trade a basic attack for my ultimate?
To be honest, what he said makes some sense.
The original owner did not argue, as one of her perceptions had already been locked in.
That means his mother committed too many sins and will surely fall into the three evil realms to suffer after death.
Hongfa Temple.
In this temple, there is an Arhat who guards it.
This "Arhat" suppressed several demons and became quite famous in the area.
The Arhat sits cross-legged on a futon, his body thin and frail, wearing a kasaya. Behind him is a magnificent Buddha statue adorned with gold powder. No matter which angle you look up from, you can feel the Buddha's eyes watching you.
Pei Si prepared a large box of food and dishes to entertain this Arhat.
After the Arhat had finished eating, he stared straight at Pei Si and said, "Your mother will surely fall into the three evil realms after her death. If you can give up your wealth and sincerely make offerings to my World-Honored One..."
My mother is dead.
Pei Si sold his favorite possessions and used all of them to make offerings to the Buddha.
Incense, flowers, lamps, fruits, food, clothing, valuables, and statues.
He even built temples and personally hand-painted Buddha statues.
The Arhat also said, "Only if you sincerely recite 'Pure Lotus Eyes Tathagata' and accumulate merit will your mother be saved."
Pei Si chanted the honorific title day after day and worshipped day and night, all to absolve his mother of the sins of killing.
One day, Pei Si had a dream.
He dreamed of his mother.
In his dream, his mother grabbed his leg and said coldly, "Mu'er, you're right, you're right! Because of your day and night chanting of scriptures and accumulating merit, I have been spared the punishment of the three evil realms, and I will be reborn." .
But in this life, I will be reborn as a maid in my household, destined for a lowly and short life, only able to live for three years. Save me, save me, find a way to save me!
The mother kept wailing in her dream until she woke Pei Si up.
Pei Si: "I must do something to save my mother!"
He knelt before the Buddha statue, whose title was Pure Lotus Eye Tathagata, and made a grand vow: "From this day forward, for hundreds of millions of eons to come, I vow to liberate all sentient beings suffering in hell and the three evil realms in every world, freeing them from hell, the evil realms, the animal realm, the hungry ghost realm, and so on. Only after all such beings have attained Buddhahood will I attain perfect enlightenment!"
A line of small ink characters appeared before Pei Si's eyes.
"Ancient Buddhist practice proficiency +1, current proficiency 1/100".
Ancient Buddhism!
Pei Si narrowed his eyes.
Could it be that the methods of Buddhist practice are also divided into ancient and modern times?
Sometimes, it's not that ancient methods are superior and modern methods are inferior.
If ancient methods are the strongest, then why do living beings need to evolve?
In general, the current environment is not suitable for traditional methods, so changes need to be made in a timely manner.
This is how the distinction between old and new came about.
Within the sea of consciousness, the bronze mirror of the Four Gods and Twelve Zodiac Animals trembled slightly.
Lines of small ink-wash characters reappeared before Pei Si.
[Judge: Pei Si]
【Position: Ancient Buddhist Practitioner (None), 1/100】
[Taoist Arts: None]
[Employer's Evaluation: I wear a robe to shield from the sun and moon, and I also feel the suffering of all beings. I do not offer vegetarian meals for longevity, but only to protect the peace of the world; sweeping before the Buddha, fighting on the battlefield, all are forms of spiritual practice. This is what you, Venerable One, do, and I do too.]
[Ancient Buddhist monk (white)], one can obtain the Daoist arts [Buddhist teachings illuminated].
"【Explanation of the Dharma】: The ancient Dharma provides instant enlightenment, and the speed of practicing Dharma for power, defense, and spiritual cultivation is greatly increased."
[Promotion Requirement: Recite the exegesis of the scriptures one hundred times]
Pei Si suddenly thought of something.
Why insist on holding the position of "ancient Buddhist practitioner" and instead practice ancient methods in the present world?
Regardless of whether the ancient or modern methods are stronger, the most important thing for a cultivator to advance is resources.
If the resources required for ancient cultivation methods cannot be found in this world, how can one advance in cultivation?
A thought popped into Pei Si's mind.
Once the thought arose, it spread like wildfire and could not be stopped.
He can create a spirit-possessed paper figure, allowing it to practice ancient techniques and stay by the side of this Bodhisattva who represents the present.
Once the thought crossed his mind, Pei Si could no longer remain still.
Make paper, place fragments of "ghost" inside, drip with the essence of one's heart's blood, and use the Seven Methods of Drawing Spirits.
In an instant, a bald monk who bore a resemblance to Pei Si stood beside him.
Pei Si pondered.
What should we name this clone?
"I've got it." Pei Si snapped his fingers, a flash of inspiration coming to him.
"How about we call you Sun Xingzhe?"
Sun Xingzhe nodded; the name was somewhat intriguing.
The Rotten Chessboard reappeared before Pei Si.
The Bodhisattva's dream ended.
Pei Si gained the profession of "Ancient Buddhist Cultivator" from this, which can be considered a gain.
"You're back." The Bodhisattva looked at Pei Si, then glanced at Sun Xingzhe beside Pei Si.
"Friendly methods."
"This clone will stay by my side and accompany me in practicing the Dharma. What do you say?"
Before Pei Si could speak, the Bodhisattva spoke first.
Pei Si glanced suspiciously at the "Di Ting" beside him and nodded.
