Chapter 11
My Friend Jiang Tao
Besides Jiang Tao, Chen Mo also saw a message from his homeroom teacher, Zhao Qiankun, asking about his injuries and telling him to take good care of himself and come back to school after he recovered.
Chen Mo replied that his injury was almost healed and he expected to be able to go back to school next Monday. He also thanked the teacher for his concern.
Then, he looked through the messages Jiang Tao had sent.
Jiang Tao was Chen Mo's deskmate for all three years of high school, and also his sparring partner in martial arts combat classes.
Jiang Tao's martial arts aptitude was a bit lacking, but his family situation was much better than Chen Mo's. Jiang Tao had told him that his father was a martial artist, so he was well-nourished and grew tall and strong.
Standing at 1.9 meters tall, with bulging muscles all over his body, he had the same physique as the bodybuilders he had seen in his previous life.
Jiang Tao did not consider himself superior because his father was a martial artist. He was happy to be friends with Chen Mo and would even lend Chen Mo some cultivation resources from time to time.
However, Chen Mo had his own principles and was unwilling to accept gifts, preferring to borrow instead.
After a while, Chen Mo returned it.
The two were of similar skill levels, and over the past three years, they had attended classes and practiced martial arts together, which forged a deep friendship between them.
Thinking back on his past memories, Chen Mo already regarded Jiang Tao as a close friend.
Jiang Tao has an outgoing personality and is not a deep-thinking person. Chen Mo feels very comfortable getting along with him.
Chen Mo opened his friend Jiang Tao's chat interface and saw the message he had received.
There was a lot of content, some of which was sent yesterday. He didn't have much energy at the time and didn't look at his phone. Besides, his parents were watching and wouldn't let him take it.
Therefore, I did not see the message sent by Jiang Tao.
Now that he has his phone back, he has seen the message.
The first few words were mostly expressions of concern, but when there was no reply, they called Chen Mo's father.
Upon learning that Chen Mo was injured, he thought of coming to visit him, but unfortunately he didn't have time.
Jiang Tao sent a message today because he learned from Chen Mo's father yesterday that Chen Mo had woken up, and he wanted to inquire about his condition.
"Mozi, how's your injury? I'll come to see you at the hospital this afternoon."
"Mozi, you have no idea! I've missed you so much in just two days! Get well soon, I don't know how I'll get through this without you at school."
Upon seeing these two latest messages, Chen Mo was speechless, shivered, and quickly typed a reply:
"Taozi, that's too much! Your mushy messages are giving me goosebumps!"
"Even though we're good friends, it's not to this extent. I'm attracted to women. What if my parents see this and misunderstand?"
Just after sending two messages, Chen Mo received a message from Jiang Tao:
"Hehehe..."
"I'm sorry, Mozi, there's nothing I can do. You don't know, you weren't here, so during martial arts class, the homeroom teacher made me spar with him."
Seemingly annoyed by the slow typing speed, Jiang Tao sent a voice message. When Chen Mo answered, he heard Jiang Tao's complaint:
"You know our homeroom teacher, he's a seventh-grade martial artist. It's torture for me, a fifth-grade martial apprentice, to spar with him. You know he's notoriously strict."
"When I spar with him, just one glare from his eyes feels like facing a ferocious beast. My body trembles, and my limbs become unresponsive. When he hits me, it's like an adult hitting a baby. Tell me, how can that be effective sparring?"
"Hahaha!" Chen Mo laughed unkindly, thinking of how his brother was abused by the teacher.
"Waaaaah!" Hearing Chen Mo's laughter, Jiang Tao immediately pretended to cry, saying pitifully,
"Mozi, how could you make fun of me! We're brothers! This hurts me deeply."
"Okay, I'll stop laughing! But even though our homeroom teacher is strict, he doesn't bully younger students. Being able to get one-on-one training from him is a kind of luck!"
Chen Mo quickly stopped laughing. He knew Jiang Tao was faking his tears, so he didn't offer any comfort.
"Hey! That's true! But I don't want this kind of special training! Facing him is even scarier than facing my dad. That martial artist's aura is terrifying."
Jiang Tao stopped pretending and his sobbing completely disappeared.
"Pressure is what drives motivation! Taozi, how's your performance in the homeroom teacher's special training? You're not still not improved by the time I get to school, are you?"
"How is that possible! I was just about to tell you that under the pressure from our homeroom teacher, I broke through to the sixth rank of Martial Apprentice! Now, you're no match for me!"
Jiang Tao chuckled, "You're injured again, and it's been a few days already. By the time you come back to school, I'll have made progress! Then you'll have to call me 'brother'!"
"Hehe, well, Moko, you'd better work hard!"
Although Jiang Tao's words were somewhat arrogant, Chen Mo knew that he meant no harm.
He would say this every time he broke through, and after he broke through, Chen Mo would also break through a few days later.
Therefore, their levels of skill were roughly equal.
"Taozi, don't be so smug for too long. In a few days, I'll catch up with you!"
Chen Mo spoke with confidence, while also glancing at his own screen.
With the panel in place, even a genius can catch up.
"Haha... So what if you caught up? But as long as you don't break through, I can still be the boss!"
Jiang Tao didn't care at all.
Being the eldest brother is just a joke between brothers.
The two were only a few days apart in age. In their previous sparring matches, they had each won and lost. Sometimes they would joke and bet that whoever won would be the boss, or whoever had a higher skill level would be the boss.
"Whatever you want! By the way, Taozi, I'm already being discharged from the hospital, so you don't need to come. Tomorrow is Saturday, and my injury should be healed by then. Let's meet at the park we used to go to."
"Okay! It's settled then! Mozi, you'd better work hard! The homeroom teacher said there will be a quiz next Monday, and the top three in the class will receive a generous reward. If you don't improve, he will personally come and give you guidance."
"Let's not even think about rewards; they'll take all the top three spots in the class. As for the homeroom teacher's personal guidance, I've already experienced that."
"You definitely don't want to experience that kind of intense, tingling feeling. After the special training, even a tough guy like me has to hold onto the wall to walk, let alone someone as small as you."
"Hahaha..." Chen Mo couldn't help but laugh out loud, imagining Jiang Tao walking with his legs supported by the wall. "Taozi, we have martial arts class this afternoon..."
"Damn it! I almost forgot!" Jiang Tao couldn't help but curse. "I'm going to get tortured again! Mo Zi, I miss you so much!"
"Thinking of me won't help! Taozi, I can't help you either! But I'm here to support you in spirit. Hang in there, hold on, after today, you'll be free!"
"Alas! My life is so miserable!" Jiang Tao couldn't help but sigh.
The two chatted for a while longer before hanging up when the class bell rang.
Chen Mo has also completed the discharge procedures.
"go home!"
