Slaying the Special Monster - Lantern Ghost!

Their situation was worlds apart from that of the rest of the village!

Hearing the wails and shouts coming from the distance of the village, one could tell that many people had fallen victim to the Shadow Fog Monster.

"Brother, why are there so few lantern ghosts tonight? We've only killed a little over a hundred so far."

After killing the lantern ghost in front of him with his spear, Shen Kun flicked it lightly and threw it to the place where the lantern ghost corpses were piled up.

The pile was significantly smaller than it had been the previous few nights.

"It might be because we've killed too many lantern ghosts these past few nights, but it's also possible that we were eaten by the Shadow Fog Monster."

Shen Yi looked out at the night sky and pondered for a moment.

The night is the domain of spirits, but they cannot reproduce indefinitely.

If the lantern ghosts in this area are wiped out, you'll have to go out and find a new area where lantern ghosts appear if you want to get the Soul Wood.

Otherwise, his special buildings would not be able to continue upgrading without the replenishment of Yin Soul Wood.

For now, let's try to collect as much Yin Soul Wood as possible.

For them, going out at night is still too early.

However, he is more inclined to believe that the appearance of the Fog Shadow Monster led to a decrease in the number of Lantern Ghosts.

Shen Yi didn't stop moving at all, cleaning up the lantern ghosts that were entering the courtyard one after another, and setting them aside.

"Big brother, two more Mist Shadow Monsters are coming!"

Shen Yuan's voice came from the side in a low voice, reminding him.

coming!

This is the first time tonight that two Shadow Creatures have been lured over by the Shadow Lantern at the same time.

Shen Yi focused intently, ignoring the lantern ghosts, and went to the edge of the swamp, holding a spear and waiting patiently.

Above the marshland.

The hanging lanterns emitted a faint dark light in the night, slowly coalescing into a hazy human figure that fell directly below.

Faint spots of light floated on the figure.

Shen Yi guessed that this was the fatal factor that attracted the Fog Shadow Monster!

As luck would have it, the figure landed in the center of the swamp.

soon.

The two shadow monsters moved swiftly, instantly appearing from fifty meters away, and greedily pounced on the figure standing in the center of the swamp.

A short while later.

The Shadow Monster then barged into the Shen family's courtyard. As soon as it entered, its feet suddenly sank into a patch of soft, damp soil, making its movements unusually slow.

Despite their fierce struggles, they could only crawl forward a tiny distance.

The swamp is like a magnet for spirits, attracting them tightly!

Seeing this, Shen Yi acted swiftly, not giving them a chance to make contact with the figure, and immediately thrust his spear forward.

puff!puff!

The heads of the two Mist Shadow Monsters were instantly pierced through by the sharp tip of the spear, and they stopped moving on the spot.

[Summoning Lantern - Level 1]

【Function: Summoning Spirits】

【Characteristic: Lure (White, slightly improved accuracy)】

【Durability: 65/100】

……

If a popularity shadow is destroyed once, the durability of the summoning lamp will decrease by 10 points, and a new popularity shadow will be formed.

Besides the fact that gathering a crowd's shadow will reduce durability, the Shadow Lantern will also suffer some durability loss as it continuously emits light in the dark.

The first Fog Shadow Monster attracted earlier destroyed two Human Shadows, causing the Shadow Lantern's durability to drop by 20 points.

Shen Yi realized this, and afterwards he would kill the Fog Shadow Monster before it could even make contact with the Human Shadow!

To minimize the wear and tear on the lighting lamps.

Given the current durability of this lamp, it should be able to last for two more nights if the shadow of the person attracting attention is not damaged.

The premise is that the Fog Shadow Monster will intrude into Black Mountain Village again on the next two nights.

"Big brother, here, two Mist Shadow Stones!"

Shen Yuan had already skillfully taken out the Mist Shadow Stone from the Mist Shadow Monster's body and handed it to her elder brother with a happy expression.

After obtaining it, Shen Yi quickly devoured it, and has now collected 6 Mist Shadow Stones!

"We've gathered enough Miststones to craft the 'Shadow Binding Cage'..."

He seemed to be deep in thought.

If we build the Shadow Cage now, we will lack the Shadow Stones needed to upgrade the Shadow Lantern.

After thinking about it, I decided to keep the Fog Shadow Stone for now and use it to upgrade the Shadow Lantern.

Otherwise, if no Fog Shadows appear for the next two nights, the Shadow Lantern will become unusable once its durability drops to zero.

He will only consider making a Shadow Binding Cage after he has at least eight Shadow Stones.

Even if the remaining 3 Fogstones are not enough to upgrade the Shadow Lantern, they can be used to create a second Shadow Lantern at any time.

Comparatively speaking, the Shadow Binding Cage seems less important and is not the best choice.

Shen Yi didn't think much of it.

While working with his younger siblings to hunt down the lantern ghosts that had entered the yard, he also kept an eye on the situation of the mist shadow monster.

Time continued to pass.

The horrific commotion that had been so frequent in the village earlier that night was gone.

It is unknown how many families were killed that night.

Late at night.

The Shadow Lantern lured in another Fog Shadow Monster, which Shen Yi quickly dealt with, and he also gained a Fog Shadow Stone.

The rest of the time was spent dealing with the lantern ghost that had broken into the Shen family's courtyard.

The Shadow Wood is still the main material for him to upgrade special buildings, so he tries to get as much as he can.

outside.

They seemed to have noticed the unusual situation in the courtyard where Shen Yi and his two siblings were.

A large, eerie monster raised its enormous head, holding a ghostly lantern in its hand. Dense yin energy emanated from its lower body, continuously sinking and covering the ground beneath its feet.

Surrounded by a large number of lantern ghosts, this large monster began to consciously move towards the Shen family.

yard.

While counting the number of lantern ghosts killed that night, Shen Kun chatted with his older brother and younger sister.

"Brother, there are fewer and fewer lantern ghosts. I think we can only kill about two hundred and thirty or forty lantern ghosts at most tonight."

"There are more than a hundred fewer than two days ago."

"The Lantern Ghost is no match for the Mist Shadow Monster. If the Mist Shadow Monster invades our Black Mountain Village's territory, won't the Lantern Ghost be driven out? Where will we get the Soul Wood then?"

Upon hearing this, Shen Yuan seemed to be deep in thought.

"I heard that our Black Mountain Village is connected to other villages, and lantern ghosts often roam around there too."

"However, people from other villages will not let us stay overnight unless we build a house outside the village ourselves."

While they were chatting idly.

Sudden.

The wall surrounding the Shen family's courtyard was hit violently, making a loud noise!

Bang! !

The three siblings were startled by the sudden commotion and quickly got up to look outside.

Suddenly, a terrifying monster, enormous in size and made entirely of wood, carrying a lantern, appeared in front of the courtyard gate!

A group of lantern ghosts surrounded it, like stars surrounding the moon!

"This is……!"

Shen Yi's eyes narrowed.

The three siblings spoke almost in unison, their voices low and stern:

"Ghost with a lantern!"

Shen Yuan's face tightened.

The Lantern Demon is a powerful spirit that evolved from the Lantern Demon.

Its power is several times greater than that of an ordinary lantern ghost; they are not even in the same league.

Only one lantern ghost can be born out of a thousand lantern ghosts!

Their Black Mountain Village had never been attacked by the Lantern Ghost.

Information about the Lantern Ghost came from other villages.

The other villages mobilized four or five cultivators at the late stage of the Qi and Blood Realm, using all their skills, and were barely able to kill him.

Their terrifying strength is unimaginable!

In the past, no lantern ghost had ever been born in Heishan Village.

Now, not only are the Fog Shadow Monsters frequently attacking Black Mountain Village, but even the Lantern Ghost has appeared!

Shen Yi's expression was extremely solemn.

But he didn't have time to think about it.

As the lantern-bearing ghost steadily advanced, he saw the durability of his own wall gradually decreasing!

Durability: 99...98...97...

However, the lantern ghost was not fixated on destroying the wall.

After discovering the three people in the yard.

It let out a low, strange laugh that was hard to decipher, and stepped into the courtyard.

The long, bony, ghostly hand reached out to grab the three of them!

however.

It quickly realized something was wrong.

I looked down.

He discovered that his lower body was stuck in a swamp.

The soil, like thick glue, bound it inside.

The lantern-carrying ghost let out a piercing scream, extremely agitated, and continued to forcibly walk forward.

The swampy terrain has little effect on binding it, only temporarily slowing its movement.

Given enough time, the Lantern Ghost is fully capable of breaking free from the swamp!

The three siblings reacted extremely quickly.

The moment the Lantern Ghosts entered the swamp, they had already begun to move hastily.

Shen Yi and Shen Kun both had fierce expressions and simultaneously thrust their spears fiercely at the Lantern Ghost.

Shen Yuan then raised her large bow and kept shooting at the Lantern Demon!

however.

Their methods for dealing with the lantern ghost seemed to be completely ineffective at this point!

After the spears of the brothers Shen Yi and Shen Kun pierced the body of the lantern ghost, it was as if the spears were tightly clamped from the inside.

They couldn't be pulled out at all; in fact, there was a suction force inside that quickly drew their spears into their bodies!

"Quickly, let go!"

Shen Yi shouted, instantly releasing his grip on the spear.

At this moment, the ghostly hand of the lantern-carrying ghost suddenly stretched out half a meter, drawing a sharp line in the night sky!

Seeing this, the two brothers quickly retreated, narrowly avoiding the attack of the lantern ghost.

His expression showed he was still shaken.

If they had been even a fraction slower, they would have been pulled into the Lantern Ghost's attack range!

"Big brother, what should we do?"

Shen Kun, panting heavily, watched as their spears were absorbed and digested by the Lantern Demon, and his nerves tightened rapidly.

Without weapons, they have no way to fight the monsters with their bare hands!

The Lantern Ghost will eventually escape from the swamp.

Although Shen Yi was also panting heavily, he was not too panicked.

He still has thousands of pieces of Yin Soul Wood in his possession.

Use them all to upgrade the Zhenyin Wooden House; I refuse to believe it won't survive the rest of the night against this Lantern Ghost!

Shen Yi's consciousness entered the core of folk customs, intending to create a new Yin Wood Spear, but his attention suddenly froze and quickly fell on one of the folk customs drawings.

[Blueprint Name: Shadow Binding Cage]

[Use Description: Comes with the white trait 'Binding,' which can inflict a shadow binding on the target. The specific effect depends on the target's strength.]

【Materials required for crafting: 5 Mist Shadow Stones】

"Shadow Binding Cage!"

Shen Yi's eyes suddenly hardened.

The idea of quickly bringing Shen Kun and Shen Yuan into the house was immediately abandoned.

He suddenly consumed five Mist Shadow Stones, instantly condensing a fist-sized ball of soft black mist with a tangible feel in his hand.

Strands of black mist intertwined and compressed together.

Shen Yi did not hesitate at all.

The moment the Shadow Binding Cage was completed, he immediately threw it forward, hitting the Lantern Demon precisely.

The next moment, an astonishing scene unfolded!

The moment the black mist came into contact with the lantern ghost, it seemed to come alive.

Strands of black mist rapidly wriggled and coiled around the lantern-bearing ghost's entire body.

In no time, the Shadow Binding Cage had completely enveloped the Lantern Ghost!

"Big brother, what kind of trick is this now?" Shen Kun asked, his eyes wide.

Shen Yi had no time to explain. He had already quickly crafted two Yin Wood Spears and upgraded them directly to level 3!

He threw a long spear made of dark wood to Shen Kun beside him, and then rushed to the lantern ghost again.

At this moment, the Lantern Ghost was tightly bound by the Shadow-Binding Cage, unable to move his hands and feet.

Their movements, already sluggish from being stuck in the mud, were now reduced to crawling in place with difficulty.

However, its struggles grew more and more intense, and the Shadow Binding Cage showed signs of being stretched open.

"Don't waste time, get it!"

Shen Yi keenly noticed this, shouted, and gripped the Yin Wood Spear with both hands, unleashing his full power to stab at the Lantern Ghost!

Upon hearing this, Shen Kun rushed over and, using the momentum, thrust his spear hard into the head of the Lantern Ghost.

However, despite being a level 3 Yin Wood Spear, after being thrust into the Lantern Ghost's body, its surface quickly became stained with a grayish-white, decaying color and cracks appeared rapidly!

Durability instantly drops to zero!

Shen Yi gritted his teeth.

Upgrade the Yin Wood Spear!

Swah——

In an instant, his body trembled, and his energy drained away at an extremely rapid pace.

The long spear made of dark wood in his hand underwent a rapid and astonishing transformation.

No longer purely black, mysterious patterns appeared on the spear!

Shen Yi suppressed the weakness emanating from deep within his body and easily pulled out the Yin Wood Spear.

Then, he plunged the spear deep into the lantern-bearing ghost's body once more!

The lantern ghost was no longer calm and composed.

It truly felt that its body had suffered tremendous trauma!

He immediately unleashed all his willpower and struggled frantically!

The Shadow Cage is showing signs of losing its ability to restrain it; its durability has plummeted from full to single digits!

"Die!!"

Realizing that time was running out, Shen Yi continued to move, thrusting wildly with all his might!

The lantern-carrying ghost screamed pitifully, and its struggling movements became increasingly weaker.

Shen Yi's eyes turned red, and finally, with all his strength, he pierced something inside the Lantern Ghost's body.

The lantern ghost's eyes quickly lost their luster, it lost its balance, and fell backward into the swamp.

Snapped!

Dirt splashed up.

"Big brother, it's dead! It's dead!"

Shen Kun and Shen Yuan's joyful shouts rang in Shen Yi's ears.

Shen Yi stopped moving in a daze and looked down.

They saw the huge corpse, half of which had sunk into the swamp.

He relaxed all his muscles, lay down on the ground, and laughed heartily!
