Chapter 18

The Goblins I Summoned Were a Regular Army

Lanxing, Yangcheng No.1 Middle School, the former classroom of Senior Three (5).

This area has now been connected to the adjacent classroom, creating an extremely spacious area with hundreds of professional medical monitoring beds neatly arranged, each connected to sophisticated vital sign monitoring instruments.

The air was filled with the faint smell of disinfectant, and the various instruments and lights, along with the staff in white coats, created the atmosphere of a scientific research base.

The first to line up were the fifty members of the frontline defense and reconnaissance team.

They maintained their neat formation and moved in unison.

But the moment they stepped into the classroom, every pair of sharp eyes involuntarily widened, their pupils reflecting the inexplicable presence in the center of the room—a complex and mysterious magic circle composed of shimmering energy lines.

Despite having been mentally prepared via video briefing, witnessing this supernatural spectacle in person still sent shivers down the spines of these battle-hardened warriors, and low gasps of amazement echoed through the air.

Lei Hu took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down, and whispered, "Silence! Take your positions according to your assigned numbers!"

Upon receiving the order, the team quickly and silently dispersed. The members lay down in their pre-assigned beds in silence and swiftly, their movements displaying the crispness characteristic of soldiers. However, their slightly rapid breathing and excited eyes betrayed the turmoil within them.

Soon after, members of the agricultural and geological exploration team, the basic science and technology application team, and the logistics and information integration team also entered. Compared to the soldiers' deliberate suppression, the experts and craftsmen reacted more directly, with exclamations rising and falling in waves.

"My God...this is spectacular!"

"Such a powerful energy field!"

"Incredible... a perfect energy cycle structure, this violates the laws of thermodynamics..."

"Seeing is believing, it's unbelievable!"

"Comrades, please take your assigned beds and relax." The voice of the on-site commander rang out through the loudspeaker, steady and powerful, soothing the uneasy emotions of the crowd.

Soon, everyone was either sitting or lying on the monitoring beds according to their assigned numbers, waiting for the mission to begin.

Lei Hu, Zhao Gang, Sun Xiaochuan, and the others lay on the bed, exchanging glances and smiling at each other.

This is my first time going on a mission in this way, and it feels quite unique.

Qin Weiguo, who was in the command center, looked at the scene on the monitor screen, checked the time, and then said into the microphone: "All units, prepare yourselves. Comrade Matthew's summons may be activated at any time. Please prepare for the consciousness connection."

However, it wasn't long before the magic circle reacted, the light suddenly became brighter, and the energy fluctuations became visibly stronger.

All the staff in the command center held their breath, their eyes fixed on the images on the monitor screens. They knew that the summoning magic had begun.

Meanwhile, in the open space of the town of Emberstone Ridge, almost all the townspeople had gathered, waiting for the miracle that the lord would bring them.

Of course, most people were waiting for the wheat and bean porridge in the pot.

Matthew stood on the makeshift stone platform, his gaze sweeping over the people below.

Knight Conrad stood with his hand on his sword to the side of the platform, his graying brows no longer showing the worry of the past, but rather a hint of anticipation.

Will stood behind Matthew, his plump body ramrod straight, his eyes resolute, and for the first time, his face revealed genuine confidence and pride.

"My people, today Emberstone Ridge will be reborn. Everyone here will be a witness to history and a participant in history..." Matthew gave a symbolic speech as a lord, but his words were not as attractive as the aroma that kept wafting from the pot, and they did not stir up the slightest ripple in the hearts of his people.

Fortunately, his speech was very short.

Then, amidst the scattered applause and mostly indifferent gazes, Matthew raised his hand, and the magic pendant he was holding suddenly burst forth with dazzling light. Beams of light shot out through his fingers and were projected onto the open ground in front of him, quickly outlining and spreading on the ground to form a huge, complex magic circle that emitted heart-palpitating energy fluctuations.

The light was so intense that it eclipsed even the midday sun, making it too dazzling to look directly at.

The crowd instantly erupted into a commotion, with gasps and whispers mingling together. All the numbness and despair were brutally torn apart by this supernatural scene.

Then, an even more shocking sight occurred.

Within the light of the magic circle, blurry green figures materialized, emerging from the water as if from the void, quickly becoming clear.

One, ten, fifty, one hundred.

A full hundred green-skinned, sharp-eared, and fanged goblins appeared densely packed on the open ground.

This caused the faces of the people, who had long suffered from the harassment and harm of goblins, to change drastically. They instinctively cried out in alarm and retreated, and many even showed hatred in their eyes.

However, unlike the dirty, chaotic, and menacing monsters that the people had in mind, these "goblins" only experienced a brief moment of confusion and commotion when they appeared, and then, as if possessing instinct, quickly began to act according to some kind of inner order.

"Counter-surveillance team, move in! Assemble!"

A clear, powerful, and even distinctively rhythmic and authoritative high-pitched voice rang out.

Swish!

About fifty goblins instantly converged on him as if drawn by a magnet.

Their steps were swift and orderly, without the slightest hesitation.

In just a few breaths, a compact square formation had already taken shape.

Although they were all short and had green skin, their straight backs, sharp eyes, and the fierce aura they exuded made the onlookers feel a suffocating pressure.

"stand at attention!"

"Right faces—all aligned!"

"Look ahead!"

"Report your numbers!"

A series of concise and efficient commands rang out in succession.

The goblins in the formation moved in perfect unison, as if they shared a single brain and body.

The counting was short and powerful, though the tone was high-pitched, it had a metallic, clanging quality.

"one!"

"two!"

"three!"

……

"Full term!"

After the count was finished, the entire room fell silent!

All that remained were the crackling of the campfire and the heavy breathing of the people.

Immediately afterwards, several other groups of "goblins" also quickly assembled.

"The agricultural and geological exploration team has assembled!"

"The Basic Science and Technology Applications Group is assembled!"

"The logistics and information integration team is assembled!"

Although their numbers were small and their formations weren't as menacing as military squads, their speed, orderliness, and the focus and efficiency emanating from within were vastly different from the "goblin" people usually imagine.

Conrad's pupils contracted sharply, his gaze fixed on the square of fifty goblins, his knuckles turning white from gripping the hilt of his sword with excessive force.

He had fought for half his life, seen the kingdom's most elite legions and the most savage tribal warriors, but he had never seen such... such a chilling "order"!

This is not a group of goblins at all; this is a well-trained legion that is even more unstoppable and invincible than knights!

A legion with iron discipline and a soul!

They just look like goblins.

He couldn't understand where His Highness Matthew had summoned such a goblin army; it completely overturned his entire understanding and imagination of goblins.

It also dispelled all his previous concerns and worries, and completely ignited the flame of hope in his heart.

He understood what His Highness Matthew meant by miracle and what kind of hope he spoke of.

He believed that even if the individual goblin legions were weak, their combined strength would be enough to make even human knight orders wary.

Will's mouth dropped open, his fat face trembling; the sight before him was beyond his wildest imagination.

Looking at that grim squad, then at the other groups of "goblins" who, though different in temperament, were equally orderly, his gaze finally settled on Matthew's back, and he felt an indescribable excitement and exhilaration.

A miracle, it truly was a miracle; they really did witness a miracle.

Old Sam's heart was pounding. He couldn't even tell if it was his hatred for the goblins, the shock and impact of the scene, or something called hope and miracle that stirred his numb and desperate heart.

After a brief period of panic, the women and children in the village calmed down and realized that the goblins were not demons from the Misty Mountains, but a miracle brought to Emberstone Ridge by the lord.

Although they couldn't understand the counting procession or the language being spoken, they could feel the overwhelming aura that made them feel extraordinary and gave them a long-lost sense of security.

"So many goblins! My lord, you can actually summon so many goblins."

"My God, are these really goblins? They look more like a well-trained royal knight order!"

"Even the Kingdom Knights probably don't have this kind of orderly discipline."

"The goblins summoned by the lord are indeed extraordinary."

Carl, Bob, and the other young people couldn't help but sigh in admiration, and their respect for Matthew grew even stronger.
