Chapter 4
Runes
"This scroll is no longer important."
The crow flapped its wings and said happily.
"Once the reel is in use, we will have a window to observe the world, namely the boy Aranah. We just need to order him to find other reels."
Yahweh's lips twitched. He grabbed the raven, waved it wildly in his hand, and demanded an explanation.
"You mean... this skinny, stick-like refugee is... some kind of backup plan you left behind countless years ago?"
The crow nodded smugly.
"This isn't a compliment!"
"He was just a mortal, not even an ordinary person."
"How did we manage to snatch the 'scroll' from those monsters and scoundrels?"
Yahweh looked at the raven.
The raven explained, “Lord, each scroll contains some sacred objects, and the sacred objects contained in the scroll just now have already been returned to the Kingdom of Heaven.”
Yahweh looked around and saw only endless, wilderness-like clouds and mist.
But when he tries to feel it with his heart.
A spring flowing with miraculous water appeared in the center of heaven.
Yahweh and the raven went over and examined the spring closely.
A towering stone pillar stands in the center of the spring, with inscriptions that glow with a dark purple light. The spring water gushes out from the base of the pillar and gathers below it, forming a spring similar to a hot spring.
This water, shimmering with five colors, flows out of nothingness and disappears into nothingness, seemingly endless yet elusive.
Yahweh reached out and gently touched the central pillar. His fingertips brushed against the inscriptions on each pillar, and the inscriptions turned golden. The flowing spring water was also gradually tinged with a golden halo.
Meanwhile.
A memory revives in Yahweh's consciousness—
He saw a burly man clad in magnificent armor kneeling before the spring, as if in prayer.
The giant beside him said something to the man.
So the man resolutely got up, hung himself upside down from a tree branch beside the spring, and pierced his abdomen with a spear...
Fresh blood flowed backward from his abdomen, staining the dripping spring water crimson.
After nine days and nine nights, the branch could no longer support his weight, and he fell down.
After the sacrifice failed, the man knelt down again by the spring, while the giant beside him mocked him relentlessly, trying to dissuade him.
But the man remained unmoved. In the end, he used a spear to gouge out one of his eyeballs and threw it into the spring.
This action seemed to move the spring; the crimson stain from the blood gradually faded, and the eyeball sank to the bottom of the spring...
The giant was horrified at the sight, while the man trembled with excitement. He knelt beside the spring and, with the utmost devotion and humility, scooped up a handful of water and drank it down with great thirst.
After drinking the spring water, the man underwent a dramatic change in body and mind. His bleeding body gradually recovered and became stronger. Countless runes identical to those on the stone pillar flashed in his eyes.
However, at the very last moment before the final change occurred, the man's excited and thrilled smile froze, transforming into a solemn, bitter, and painful expression...
Because, at the very last moment, he foresaw the future—
A desperate dusk.
Lord...is this what you desired?
Fragments of memory faded, turning into a sigh, a question of despair.
"Odin, the wellspring of wisdom, the runes."
Yahweh uttered three words and then opened his eyes.
Just then, a crow tilted its head, looking at him with wise eyes.
"Lord, what's wrong?"
"What kind of sacred object is this, and what can it do?"
The crow blinked its eyes, very curious. It landed beside the spring, seemingly wanting to sneak a sip.
Yahweh ignored him.
This story was very famous in the previous life. Although there are some minor differences in the details, overall it is not much different from the story of Odin sacrificing himself by hanging upside down and then gouging out his eyes to ask for water.
In gaining this memory, he also gained all the information about the spring.
[The Fountain of Wisdom]
[The inexhaustible fountain of creation, possessing the ability to foresee the future and the power to elevate the soul.]
The term "foreknowledge" has a literal meaning.
The sublimation of the soul is related to runes.
Each person's soul essence corresponds to one or more runes, and each rune corresponds to a different world law.
Therefore, when a soul receives the blessing of the Fountain of Wisdom, it can approach or even take control of a certain world law, receive the blessing of the world law, and gain a certain extraordinary power.
"ah!!"
The crow cried out in anguish.
Yahweh turned to look.
They discovered that crows were stealing water from the Fountain of Wisdom.
But when it touched the spring water, it squeaked and cried out in pain.
There are conditions for using spring water.
First, it must be a complete soul; a fragmented soul like a crow's is not acceptable.
Second, Yahweh's authorization.
Only when both of the above conditions are met can the soul use the spring water and achieve sublimation; otherwise, at best, it will be burned by the backlash of the holy spring water like a crow, and at worst, it will face the attack of the power of the law and be reduced to ashes.
Yahweh pondered for a moment, then grabbed the raven, held it in his hand, and said...
"I understand, this is a simulation game."
"I can then use the Fountain of Wisdom to elevate Yara's soul, making him stronger step by step, and then compete with those demons and monsters to reclaim the so-called 'scroll'."
The crow, having burned its beak while trying to drink, was saddened and pleaded with Yahweh in a tearful voice,
"Lord, please help me find my soul..."
Yahweh ignored him and instead questioned him.
"Since you knew about the sacred object, why didn't you say so sooner? Luckily, I gave Yara a sip when he came over to make him stronger."
The crow said aggrievedly, "Master, this is your problem. I didn't even have a chance to speak before you hung up on him."
"If you had told me earlier, would I have hung up?"
The crow felt even more aggrieved: "If you had hung up later, I would have told you."
"So, Lord, why did you send Yara away after saying only one sentence? Did you dislike him? Or did he do something to anger you?"
"Neither."
Yawes's voice softened a little.
I have social anxiety.
The crow remained silent for a while.
I was just about to speak.
Yahweh, however, noticed the situation of Ara in the present world from above the kingdom of heaven.
He was slightly startled and pointed to the ground, saying, "Look, Yara is dying."
......
Yara planned out the area for each family so that the road could reach the front of each house, and measured and planned the windows and their orientation so that each house could receive as much sunlight as possible.
In addition, he led a group of people to explore the surrounding terrain and used colored paints made from various flower stamens to add more detailed geographical information to the map scroll the old man had given him.
With ample food and abundant sunshine near Canaan, after a period of transition, Ara and the men had already built the foundations and frameworks of their houses and stored up a great deal of food.
All we need to do now is work hard, and perhaps before winter arrives, everyone will be able to live in a spacious and comfortable log cabin.
However, just as everything was proceeding smoothly, a young man who had gone out hunting brought news that sent chills down everyone's spine—
"Someone is coming from the east."
