Chapter 220
The Human Purge Plan
Chapter 220 The Human Purge Plan
Deep in the dark alley, Adela gripped her pistol tightly, hiding behind a trash can with her husband Juan beside her.
They came out today to purchase and stockpile supplies, and they just happened to stumble upon this scene outside.
That young man with a full head of white hair, I don't know where he came from, actually dared to openly attack someone on the street and break their arm.
Just when Adela thought a large-scale bloody battle was about to break out ahead of schedule.
"Buzzing"
The roar of a huge engine came from a distance on the street.
Several military armored vehicles drove recklessly towards the crowd.
A dozen or so fully armed soldiers followed behind the vehicle, holding assault rifles and pointing them at the crowd of people in the street who were facing off with guns drawn.
"Damn it! Do you guys want to die?!"
The leading officer, holding a megaphone, roared, "Put down all your weapons! Anyone who resists will be shot on sight!"
Upon hearing the military's warning, the restless gangsters and outlaws in the crowd reluctantly put away their weapons.
Suren looked at the troops who had come to control the situation and did not linger.
Taking advantage of everyone's attention being drawn to the soldiers, he darted away and quickly disappeared into a nearby alley.
"FUCK! He's coming!"
Adela was horrified as she watched the figure suddenly burst into the alley.
She and her husband Juan exchanged a glance, worried about getting into trouble, and immediately raised their guns and stood up: "Sir, we're just passing by and don't want any trouble."
Adela's hands trembled slightly, but her tone was firm, "Please leave here and don't come near us!"
Suren stopped and looked calmly at the two ordinary people who seemed to be facing a formidable enemy.
He also needed to find two locals to learn about the town.
"I advise you to put it away; this thing can't threaten me."
Before she could finish speaking, Suren's figure suddenly disappeared from Adela's sight.
"not good!"
Adela's expression changed, and she instinctively reached for her gun.
But the next second, she felt a sharp pain in the back of her neck, her eyes rolled back, and her body fell forward.
The coldness jolted Adela awake from her coma.
She sat up abruptly, her heart pounding, and instinctively touched her clothes.
She breathed a sigh of relief after confirming that her clothes were intact and that she had not been violated in any way.
Adela looked around at the unfamiliar surroundings and found that it was just an ordinary living room in a house.
Her husband, Juan, lay on the floor beside her.
"Juan! Wake up!"
She whispered.
Juan groaned, rubbing his aching neck, and struggled to open his eyes.
Upon seeing his wife, who was unharmed, he suddenly recalled the scene before he lost consciousness and broke out in a cold sweat.
He glanced at his hands and feet instinctively and realized that he was not tied up.
The couple slowly got up and then discovered that their pistol was lying on the table next to them.
Adela was about to reach out and take it.
"If I were you, I wouldn't do it."
A calm voice came from the darkness.
The two men froze, only then realizing that the white-haired man was quietly leaning against the wall in the shadows in front of them.
Suren looked at the man and woman and asked, "Who are you? What are your identities?"
Adela swallowed hard, knowing there was no point in lying: "I am Adela, and this is my husband Juan."
We fled from Mexico to escape drug lords, but we were captured by a group of people and brought here as soon as we crossed the border.
"What exactly is this town for?"
Adela and Juan exchanged a glance and shook their heads.
"We don't know either."
Adela said, "After those people dumped us here, they never cared about us again, they just told us to find an empty room."
"The child settled down."
Suren frowned: "Then why did that scene just happen?"
Upon hearing this question, Juan and Adela exchanged another glance, a look of sudden realization flashing in their eyes.
"You are—a new recruit who was recently arrested?"
Adela asked tentatively.
Suren nodded.
Upon seeing Suren's admission, the couple visibly relaxed, their previously tense bodies becoming much more relaxed.
"No wonder you don't know the rules here."
Adela explained, "Normally, any form of fighting or bloodshed is strictly prohibited here."
"Anyone who dares to make a move, for whatever reason, will attract the soldiers outside."
Suren raised an eyebrow: "A bunch of people, trying to solve problems with just words?"
"No----"
Adela shook her head, a hint of fear flashing in her eyes. "Because at the beginning of every month, this place undergoes a major purge."
"From 7 p.m. on that night until 7 a.m. the next morning, for a full twelve hours, the town will loosen all its policies."
Her voice trembled slightly as she said this, "Even that night, people would drive up in trucks and distribute all sorts of weapons to the townspeople for free!"
"These twelve hours are specifically reserved for us to resolve the conflicts and grudges that have accumulated over the years."
Upon hearing these words, Suren's eyes flickered slightly.
At a fixed time each month, all kinds of crimes are permitted, and the authorities even provide weapons.
"A human purge plan?"
The plot of the movie immediately came to mind.
The New Father Party established this annual statutory killing day in order to reduce poverty and alleviate the burden on the government.
"Could it be that this underground town is secretly piloting this plan?"
Suren frowned. There was no such thing as a new founding father party in reality. He was more inclined to suspect that it was the evil witch group that was up to something.
"When will the next major purge be?"
"Tomorrow night."
"Is there no government or official oversight here?"
"Surren asked."
He recalled that while the human purge program allowed all kinds of crimes, it also prohibited attacks on government officials of level ten or higher.
"Government officials?"
Adela gave a wry smile, finding the other person's question utterly naive.
"What kind of officials are coming to this godforsaken place? Every day, all that comes are arrested gang members, homeless people, and illegal immigrants like us."
"The only one who can get in touch with the government —"
Juan pointed outside, "These are the armed forces patrolling and stationed outside."
"But they were only responsible for watching over us. Apart from occasionally distributing weapons, they didn't care whether we lived or died."
Suren nodded: "Take me to your hideout and tell me about the distribution of power in this town, as well as the areas that the military usually guards closely."
"In return, I can guarantee your survival during tomorrow night's purge."
Adela gave a wry smile; the other party had clearly never witnessed a slaughterhouse where tens of thousands of people fought each other.
However, given the terrifying strength the other party displayed during the day, they had no right to refuse.
