Chapter 28
You got into a fight over a little girl?
Bang——! ! !
With a loud bang, even the students who were resting on their desks couldn't help but look up.
Dong Chengze's desk was overturned on the ground, with textbooks, workbooks, and test papers scattered everywhere. His pencil case lay crookedly to one side, and several pens rolled far away.
Jiang Yubai stood in front of the mess and patted off non-existent dust from his hands.
Dong Chengze, who had been muttering to himself, froze on the spot, his face filled with astonishment and fear, unable to utter a single word.
Gradually, his face turned from white to red. The humiliation of having his table overturned in public made him stand up abruptly.
"Jiang Yubai—!!"
"What are you shouting for? Why didn't you shout like this when you were spreading rumors?" Jiang Yu's face remained expressionless. "Who are you trying to fool with this act?"
"What, you want to fight?"
Dong Chengze clenched his fists tightly, but dared not actually make a move.
Caught in a dilemma under the watchful eyes of everyone, they froze on the spot.
"What are you doing?!"
To be honest, when the homeroom teacher's angry voice came from the doorway, Dong Chengze even subconsciously breathed a sigh of relief.
In the corridor, the homeroom teacher, known as "Master Zhang," strode in.
Her gaze swept over the crooked table and the books scattered on the floor, then she looked at the two people facing each other like bulls, and her brows furrowed instantly.
"Jiang Yubai, Dong Chengze, what are you two doing?!"
The homeroom teacher, Zhang Shufang, became stern, her gaze shifting between the two of them.
Just as Dong Chengze was about to speak, Jiang Yubai stepped forward in one swift motion, indignantly saying:
"Teacher Zhang, I only changed seats a few days ago, and Dong Chengze is already spreading rumors in class that Lin Tingwan and I are dating."
"I was so angry that I confronted him, and he even said... that Lin Tingwan has hearing problems, and what's wrong with talking about her behind her back? I couldn't hold back and..."
As he spoke, his voice gradually lowered, tinged with a hint of frustration:
"I acted impulsively; I shouldn't have flipped the table."
Upon hearing this, Zhang Shufang glared at Dong Chengze, her tone suddenly becoming stern:
"is that so?!"
"I...this..."
Dong Chengze opened his mouth, but his gaze unconsciously fell on Jiang Yubai.
No?
This statement sounds completely wrong, but he can't find a reason to refute it, since what the other person said... seems to be true.
But the problem is...
What's with that "I'm the victim" look on your face?!
Didn't you just rush over and berate me, and then overturn my table without saying a word?
Where did that "want to fight?" attitude go?!
Zhang Shufang noticed his hesitant manner and immediately made a decision.
"Take a nap when you should, study when you should, what's so interesting?!" She glanced around, "You two come with me."
Jiang Yubai glanced at Dong Chengze and followed behind the homeroom teacher.
Dong Chengze's face turned pale and then red, but he eventually followed after them.
in the office.
Zhang Shufang sat down behind her desk, placing her hands folded on the table:
"So what exactly happened? Which of you will speak first and explain the whole story from beginning to end?"
"There are surveillance cameras in the classroom, so don't even think about lying. You'll be dealt with severely."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Yubai recounted the whole story, starting from when he first heard the rumor.
This time he didn't hide anything, but he added at the end:
"Teacher Zhang, you said back in the first year of high school that no matter who our classmates are, we should not look down on others or gossip about them because of certain special circumstances. I still remember those words very clearly."
The implication is that someone simply doesn't remember.
Zhang Shufang didn't say anything, but turned to Dong Chengze and asked, "Do you have anything to add?"
Dong Chengze's lips moved, but in the end he could only weakly retort:
"Yes... he struck first."
"It was indeed me who started it," Jiang Yubai nodded readily. "I was too impulsive at the time and couldn't help but flip the table."
"Teacher Zhang, this shouldn't be considered a fight, right?"
Zhang Shufang paused for a few seconds, pushed up her glasses, and her tone suddenly became stern:
"No matter what, it was wrong to be the first to flip the table."
"Violence cannot solve problems. When students have conflicts, they should communicate first or go to the teacher to handle it."
Jiang Yubai nodded, looking as if he was sincerely admitting his mistake.
Zhang Shufang paused, her gaze sweeping between the two:
"Jiang Yubai, you overturned the table and disrupted class order. You're punished by running five laps around the playground. Get down now."
"As for Dong Chengze..." She looked to the other side.
"You stay in the office; I need to speak with you privately."
...
...
When Jiang Yubai returned to the classroom, Li Yang, who had been waiting nearby, approached him nervously and asked:
"Brother Jiang, what do you mean?"
"Run as punishment," Jiang Yubai said lazily.
"Punishment runs?" Li Yang was taken aback, somewhat incredulous. "That's it?"
Holy crap, Jiang Ge flipped someone's desk in full view of everyone, making such a loud noise that even the next class could probably hear it, and he didn't even get a warning or punishment?
Jiang Yubai ignored him, simply walked back to her seat, picked up her water cup, and gulped down several large mouthfuls.
He glanced at his deskmate instinctively.
Lin Tingwan remained quietly engrossed in her book, as if the earlier commotion had nothing to do with her.
Jiang Yubai didn't mind, tossed the water glass back into the table, and waved at Li Yang:
"Bye-bye, I'm going to get some fresh air."
After Jiang Yubai left the classroom, the students whispered among themselves for a while, but eventually quieted down.
In the silence, the girl slightly raised her head and silently stood up.
She slowly walked to the window, her gaze quietly fixed on the playground.
In the center of the vast playground, only one figure was running at a leisurely pace.
The man ran leisurely, occasionally looking up at the birds flying overhead, and sometimes slowing down to stretch his arms in the warm afternoon sun.
The sun was shining brightly, and the wind was gentle.
The early summer breeze rustled through the leaves, gently lifting the fine hairs on the girl's forehead by the window, revealing a pair of clear, amber eyes.
It's shiny and sparkly.
-----------------
After Jiang Yubai leisurely finished running five laps, and even stopped at the convenience store to buy a bottle of water, he finally swayed upstairs.
But just past the corner of the building, I saw my homeroom teacher standing in front of the door, making a phone call.
The two met eyes, and Zhang Shufang waved, signaling him to hurry over.
Jiang Yubai quickly hid the bottled water behind his back, a forced but polite smile on his face:
"Teacher Zhang, you wanted to see me?"
Zhang Shufang glanced at him:
"Strictly speaking, this doesn't count as fighting, but according to school rules, we are required to notify your parents of such conflicts."
Hearing this, Jiang Yubai readily nodded: "It's alright, teacher, please inform my mom."
"I've already called," Zhang Shufang said, handing over the phone, which was still connected to another call. "Your mother said she wants to talk to you."
ha?
Jiang Yu blinked and reached out to take it:
"Hello, Mom?"
A leisurely female voice came from the other end of the phone:
"Son, I heard from your homeroom teacher..."
"You got into a fight over a little girl?"
