Defeating the Paper Doppelganger

Chapter 7 Defeating the Paper Doppelganger

The lake was completely calm.

The ninja stepped onto the lake, creating ripples.

Uehara Naraku walked step by step onto the lake, following in Konan's footsteps, and slowly took his place. After resting for two days, today was the official day to test him.

I don't know what Pain was thinking. He was a little unhappy with Konan's decision a couple of days ago, but today he actually came to watch this battle between master and disciple.

Konan closed her eyes, clasped her hands together, and whispered, "Naraku, don't be careless just because this is a test. My paper clones are not weak..."

Xiao Nan's voice gradually lowered.

Countless origami pieces floated out from her body, dancing in the air and converging into a human shape, forming a paper clone that was comparable to her original self.

This paper clone is different from the ordinary shadow clone technique.

While ordinary shadow clones are also physical entities, they are forced to disintegrate once they are hit by an attack. Paper clones, however, are quite different. When Konan's paper clones are attacked, they can even break into smaller pieces of paper, fly to a distance, and reassemble.

In addition, the paper clones can unleash any ninjutsu that Konan can use. Even an ordinary piece of paper, under her chakra manipulation, has a sharpness that rivals that of a shuriken, not to mention the countless explosive tags hidden among the paper pieces.

"It's a pity that if even a paper clone can't be defeated..."

Uehara Naraku raised his head, a confident smile playing on his lips: "Then wouldn't I be utterly useless?"

He worked hard for a month to accumulate the chakra given by the Goddess's Tears before he finally possessed Jonin-level chakra.

He lost to Itachi Uchiha before because he was too careless, fell into the Sharingan's genjutsu, and was finished off by Konan.

Now, Uehara knows everything about Konan, from her ninjutsu to her weaknesses, Uehara Naraku knows it all, plus her unique skills…

If he still can't defeat Konan's paper clone, he'll just eat the cards in his hand on the spot!

"Then we'll have to wait until after the test is over!"

Konan's paper clone stomped across the lake as it charged towards Uehara Naraku, shouting, "Naraku, it's officially starting... Paper Shuriken!"

Dozens of pieces of paper flew over!

The sharpness of paper shuriken is almost indistinguishable from that of iron ones, and they can even achieve more unpredictable flight speeds and throwing angles!

Uehara Naraku held four cards in each hand and quickly threw them towards the direction of the paper shuriken!

Boom! Boom!

Eight cards flew out, two of which automatically gained chakra enhancement and exploded instantly, changing the direction of the paper shuriken!

The other six cards flew towards Konan!

"Well done..."

Ripples spread across the water's surface once more!

Konan was very satisfied with Uehara Naraku's method of dealing with the paper shuriken. Her paper clone folded and overlapped behind her back, forming a pair of wings that propelled her body into the air to avoid the card attack. She also launched another attack using the wings!

The Dance of Shikigami!

Paper rain!

The folded paper transformed into countless sharp blades, raining down obliquely towards Uehara Naraku's position, leaving no one on the ground with any way to dodge!

"Wind Barrier!"

Uehara Naraku symbolically clasped his hands together, forming a hand seal, and a wall of wind floated on the water's surface, blocking the attack of the paper rain.

The crisis is not over yet…

Even if the wind barrier can block it for a few seconds, it cannot block it indefinitely. Konan's paper rain is recyclable, and she releases paper rain almost endlessly!

The wind wall slowly disappeared...

The rain of paper swept across the plains once more!

Uehara Naraku dodged to the side, avoiding another wave of paper rain, but this did nothing to resolve the crisis!

"Is that the only option left?"

Uehara Naraku clenched his fists tightly, his chakra flowing rapidly within him. He stepped on the water's surface and flew into the air, dodging the dense rain of paper!

It is the flying skill, the aerial maneuver!

"Naraku... can fly too?"

Xiao Nan frowned immediately. Flying skills are not uncommon, but to fly into the sky like this was really unexpected.

The next moment, Konan saw Uehara charging towards her!

"Very fast!"

Konan's paper clones quickly stopped firing the rain of paper downwards, and countless pieces of paper overlapped to form a paper spear, which shot towards Uehara!

However, Uehara Na's movements in the air were surprisingly agile, almost identical to those on the ground, and she dodged the paper spear with a simple dodge.

"Can the body be this agile in mid-air?"

The woman's brows furrowed at first, then relaxed: "That little Naraku... he shouldn't be underestimated!"

boom!

The two finally clashed in close combat!

However, Uehara's physical skills were somewhat lacking. Even though he could move freely in the air, he couldn't defeat Konan in terms of physical skills!

There's nothing we can do about it...

His life energy is only a little over 600. Life energy is linked to his physical abilities, strength, and speed. Judging from the data alone, it is roughly equivalent to the value of a Chunin.

But it doesn't matter anymore. As long as he gets to Xiao Nan's side, the battle will be over, right? The thundercloud storm has already begun to gather around him!

"Thunder Release: Wan Lei Tian Lao Yin!"

Thunderclouds and storms rained down lightning incessantly, splitting the paper clone in front of him into pieces of folded paper. Some of the folded paper even had electric sparks dancing on them, a sight that surprised Uehara.

Electricity will only be visible on origami paper that is damp! However, this wet paper becomes conductive, making it virtually impossible for lightning to destroy it…

"Did Teacher Xiao Nan soak the paper sample in water beforehand?"

"good."

Konan nodded, not denying it: "If we don't do it this way, my paper clones will have a hard time withstanding Fire Release ninjutsu..."

"..."

Uehara Naraku sighed and rubbed his forehead. Konan was actually channeling lightning through a wet origami...

Countless origami fragments flew to the other side and reassembled into Konan's body. She spoke softly, "Naraku, apart from the sticky oil, it's difficult to find any other technique that can completely destroy my paper clones... If you don't have another way, you can't participate in that dangerous mission."

"I understand. Then we'll have to use another secret technique!"

The boy nodded, looking at Konan with a serious expression, his hands forming a jumble of hand seals. He had always been using Uehara Symbolic Hand Seals Naraku... because his skills were all instantaneous, and hand seals were just a way to confuse him.

Seeing this, Xiao Nan took it seriously.

However, she did not stop Uehara from doing so. Shouldn't a sparring match between master and disciple allow the disciple to demonstrate his true strength?

Moreover, Konan also wanted to see what kind of powerful ninjutsu this disciple, who could summon anything with a simple clap of his hands, would unleash when he suddenly formed such serious hand seals.

"Lifeform Disintegration Ray!"

After completing his messy hand seals, Uehara Naraku suddenly clasped his hands together and stared intently at Konan's paper clone!

A surge of purple energy erupted in an instant!

After being attacked by the purple energy, Xiao Nan's paper clone didn't even have time to split again before it instantly vanished into nothingness!

At the same time, another strange side quest was completed in Uehara Naraku's mind...

Quest Complete: Defeat the Angel of Dawn, Konan, once (1/1), reward: Angel skill: Moment of Judgment.
