Chapter 434

Holy crap, is the Vatican really this ruthless?

Is the Vatican headquarters located under a fake document stall on a pedestrian bridge? Could it be that the old man who works part-time handing out cards is your Pope? He kept telling me how fun the club was, is that true?

Mr. Rhodes also raised his hand. "Marcus, don't forget, you're still a visiting professor at Miscatorium University. Isn't that worth a talent recruitment certificate?"

Mr. Rhodes, stop joking. I'm clearly a visiting professor in a parallel world. What do I have to do with this world?

"Your certificate has been mailed to me and is at my house. Come with me to pick it up in a bit."

No way! What are you hiding on your waist? Take out the gun and throw it away first, then raise both hands above your head before I'll believe you!

Mr. Dart smiled and said, "You don't need to worry. Thomas secretly told us about it a long time ago. While he was appealing, he also asked a few of us to come up with a solution."

"Boss, so you all knew?!"

I said a little embarrassedly, "I was planning to go to the Federal Headquarters and pull off a big heist to vent my anger, then go on the run..."

"Nonsense!"

Boss Dart glared and said, "You're a member of our town, and that's a fact that no one can change. As for who wants to expel you, that's their business. Mineral Town never abandons any of its members!"

For some reason, when Boss Dart said that, he glanced at Old Muqi.

"Boss...everyone...you really..."

I was genuinely touched. I had tried every means to find an opportunity to speak out about this matter, thinking that things always needed to be resolved, but I found that everyone already had the answer in their hearts.

"Marcus, didn't you say you were coming with us?!"

Sensing something was wrong, the jay stood up with its hands on its hips.

Oh dear, look at the mess this has made. I had already discussed it with Jay and the others. We were going to go to the edge of the planets to relax and find Harris so that the Deep Space Fleet could support me and save face.

I bought a train ticket and went to the high-speed station, only to be told that I bought the ticket for the wrong direction?

Mr. Dart glanced at the jay in surprise, then instantly understood everything.

"Well, it's good for you to go out for a walk. You're a thorn in the Federation's side right now, so your temporary disappearance can ease the situation a bit."

The foundation I mentioned is extremely mysterious, yet it also displays tremendous power. If I were to swagger around, it would certainly raise the vigilance of my opponents and cause the problem to escalate further.

This is why I set my next destination as a remote planet – it's just a cave between the two sides, so who would know if I secretly ran back?

Moreover, I can gather more of the branch technologies needed by the colonist system over there.

The jay happily took my hand: "Great! Let's set off in a bit!"

I patted her head helplessly. "It doesn't matter when you leave. Besides, why do I feel like you're not talking to me?"

This is unusual.

"Let's go without delay."

Karen, who was sitting in the audience, stood up and stretched her arms. "I've packed my luggage!"

Then Lin said in a flustered manner, "I still have some things I forgot to bring. I've washed the spare sheets and pillowcases but haven't packed them yet. Wait for me a moment!"

Huh? What are you guys doing?

“The books are all ready,” the Akarin girl Mary said softly.

No need to bring a book! That stuff is completely useless! Where did you come from?!

"I heard that Green brought Alpha Chicken with him. Can I bring Coco too?"

Poppy smiled coquettishly at me and gave me a starry-eyed look.

No way! There's no room for negotiation! Gray is the White Falcon Chief, are you planning to become a Hen Colonel?!

Ellie came over to me and comforted me, "Everyone's a little willful, don't take it to heart. I'll take care of everyone on the way, nothing will happen."

Ellie is definitely the best! Ellie is so trustworthy! Having you by my side all this way…

Wait a minute, why did you suddenly decide to come along? Something doesn't seem right!

The townspeople had already started leaving, leaving me alone to continue being besieged by the girls.

"Boss Dart, you need to talk to them!"

"Mr. Rhodes, isn't it enough that I admit my mistake?"

"Mr. Jeff, you'd better think this through carefully!"

They completely ignored my pleas for help.

"I already promised Lin a holiday, so let her go."

“Marcus! Poppy needs you to take responsibility! Don’t run away!”

"Karen insists on going, and I think it's a good idea to travel. I also loved to travel when I was young!"

Ugh, why did it suddenly turn into a tour group trip?!

"That place is clearly a lot of fun. The jays told us that it has abundant animals, beautiful scenery, and kind local residents who will treat us well. It's just like Mineral Town!"

Karen grabbed me by the collar, her breath hitting my face, clearly very displeased.

Jay, what exactly did they describe about that side? Why do you have this strange impression?

"Mount Corillo!"

Jay raised his hand.

...Your example is not wrong; I misunderstood you.

"Don't joke around, that's not a fun place!"

"Why not!" the girls retorted defiantly.

I stood between them, exasperated, and said, "Get this straight! How can there be Harvest Moon in the Edge World?!"

Author's Closing Remarks

Hello everyone.

As you can see, after thinking for several days, I decided to end this book here when it had reached 1.8 million words.

The main reason is that I had already written the outline for the book on a whim, and there wasn't much content left to write in the follow-up outline. It would be pointless to force myself to write two million words.

first part:

Here, I'll briefly outline the plan for what follows:

My initial plan was to tell the story in a cyclical, iterative fashion, starting with Mineral Town in the Old World, then moving to the Edge World, then back to Mineral Town, and so on. However, I didn't manage to get the rhythm right from the start, and the story went off track. I spent a long time correcting the structure, but I still couldn't regain the rhythm.

Basically, when you see me typing like I'm having diarrhea, it means I've lost control of my hands again.

According to my plan, the next step is the Edge World instance, where I will take the girls on a revisit to familiar places, reminisce about some old acquaintances there, and finally unite the forces, rescue the missing subordinates, and return to Mineral Town.

Interspersed in the middle is an interstellar world instance, involving the multiverse invasion caused by the escape of Yogurt Bubble and foreshadowing of the planet Altana.

Next, the protagonist enters the West Capital instance of the old world while helping Lynn find her father. The protagonist approaches the Abyss Forest and, together with Ada Wong, searches for the Nameless King's legacy and learns a way to fight against the old world.

Next, a misunderstanding by a foreign teacher leads to a declaration of war by a shattered empire in the edge world. The protagonist uses edge military technology to wage a war of defeating a powerful enemy with the weak, revealing the story of an ancient corporation and the ultimate warrior.

Then, a great change occurred in the Holy City of Il-zero, the Holy See's long-buried legend of the Spiritual Particle was revealed, and the existence that had been sealed deep beneath the Holy City was gradually awakening...

It was through this back-and-forth plot that various miscellaneous content, such as the Monster Village mod, Warhammer mod, Star Wars mod, Dragon Girl mod, and Zombie Rising mod, were gradually introduced.

That being said, I am also aware of the issues that everyone has been criticizing, such as the protagonist's slow power progression and the snail-paced development of farming.

This is my fault. Due to my rambling and lack of writing skills, I've only managed to write about a prequel story after 180 million words.

I don't know how this book turned into a satirical novel as I was writing it...

the second part:

I started writing the book around New Year's Day 2020, and it's been almost two years now. But the further I wrote, the less I felt my writing skills improved; instead, I became increasingly anxious and apprehensive. After learning the correct way to write a novel, I no longer had the same reckless attitude as before, where I was willing to make any mistakes. My writing process has become increasingly cautious and precarious.

Gradually, I realized that this was the right thing to do, because every word is the writer's hard work, and every plot is the crystallization of what comes to mind. Even if we can't reach the level of the ancients who poured their hearts and souls into their writing, we should at least reduce the amount of fluff in these words and give readers more reading pleasure.

I remember when this book first came out, it only had a single-digit number of initial subscriptions. Now it has reached an average of 500 subscriptions per day, and there are constant requests for updates in the group. This is already better than expected. Actually, when I started writing the book, I was determined to write until the end of time if I could reach 500 subscriptions per day!

But in order to adjust my state, I have recently been sorting out my writing experience over the past two years, summarizing the gains and losses, and then re-examining the outline of the novel. I still put aside the unrealistic idea of writing it forever.

PS: If I keep updating, the average number of views will drop back to 400. This is also a little selfish of mine, to keep this book at its most glorious moment so that I can brag about its opening performance later.

Moreover, if I continue writing without any self-discipline, that's not writing, that's just filler. The more I write, the more fluff I'll add, wasting the story I've prepared for so long.

Therefore, I made the decision to temporarily finish the book.

the third part:

I've rambled on for so long, and I guess nobody's going to see this, so I'll save the most important thing for last ☆? (ゝ。?)

It's pretty much confirmed that the next book will be a martial arts Cthulhu story. Once it's ready, it will be published, and it will be consistent with the world view of this book, with crossover characters.

Then, regarding the ranch, I will gradually update some IF scenarios to show you the scenario that I originally planned to write but ultimately shelved—letting go of oneself is exactly like this.

Finally, and this is important, I will continue to work on these unfinished outlines and write them as a new book someday. I will carefully summarize this experience, make up for any regrets, and bring out the best in the elements of Harvest Moon and The Edge of World.

See, the opening scene features six little characters: Lynn is in charge of cleaning and cooking, Ellie is in charge of medical crafts, Karen is in charge of combat and supervision with a whip, Popuri is in charge of animal taming and socializing, and Akarin is in charge of scientific research and crop cultivation. The main character is even simpler: he diligently does construction, forging, and going out to cause trouble.

Isn't this a classic opening scene?!

That summer when I was in sixth grade, I was carefree playing Harvest Moon, planning what crops to plant that season. I never imagined that one day I would actually own my own ranch in a book.

How wonderful it would be to live in a small town like this, leading an interesting life. I always hope that's not just a story, but the future.

In conclusion, thank you all for your support over the years. I hope my writing has brought you some joy, and I hope to meet you all again with my next book.

And if I never see you again, I wish you good morning, good afternoon, and good night.
