Chapter 18

: Have you ever seen Kurarajima at 4 a.m.?

In the hazy darkness, Lin Yu felt as if he had fallen into an endless abyss.

The surrounding scenery was distorted and eerie, like a broken mirror reflecting fragmented images.

Sometimes it's a familiar city street, but the buildings are melting and flowing downwards like candles; sometimes it's a vast ocean, but the seawater is as black as ink, gleaming with an unsettling eerie light.

"Boom—Boom—Boom—"

The deafening sounds of battle echoed in his ears, and Lin Yu saw countless figures of light and shadow fiercely fighting against enemies whose faces he could not see in this distorted space.

Lights shone everywhere, and explosions echoed one after another.

However, what is most unsettling is the terrifying roar that runs throughout the entire story.

"Awooo—Awooo—Awooo—"

The sound was deep and long, like the roar of a demon from the deepest part of hell, a thousand times heavier than the bellow of an elephant. Each sound struck the depths of the soul, carrying a sense of oppressive despair.

Lin Yu frantically swung his fists in this chaos, fighting against the indistinct black shadows. He felt his body glowing, the light growing brighter and brighter until it became blinding.

Just then, a burning sensation came from my chest, as if I had been branded with a hot iron.

"Ah!" Lin Yu suddenly woke up, panting heavily.

He found himself lying in a forest on the outskirts of Kumamoto City, his clothes completely soaked with cold sweat. Looking up, the sky was still a deep night, and the moon was hiding behind the clouds, only letting out a faint light.

The burning sensation in his chest had not subsided. Lin Yu reached out and touched it. The Divine Light Stick was emitting a faint blue light, pulsating like a heart, warning him of something.

"What's wrong with me?" Lin Yu sat up, feeling utterly exhausted, as if he had just gone through a fierce battle.

The images from his dream were still vivid in his mind, especially the terrifying roar, which left him with lingering fear.

The deep, inky darkness, the utter despair from which no hope could be seen, and that signature roar made it hard for Lin Yu not to associate it with a certain specific being.

He clenched his fists, his expression becoming complex: "Why would I dream of Ancestor Gatan? Could this magical conch shell be a type of Kelp? After absorbing the light of Evil Di, I rolled a 100 on the inspiration roll and had a massive burst of power?"

Lin Yu couldn't help but complain inwardly, "This big mule isn't sleeping properly; he's thinking of using the internet to come and beat me up. Luckily, I'm not an ordinary person, or I probably would have gone insane and turned into a Deep One on the spot, right?"

After all, according to some lore sources, Gatanothor is indeed a Klaxon unit, an evil cosmic being that flew from the dark galaxy Zoth 30 million years ago, destroyed an ancient civilization, and then fell into a slumber within its ruins. Basically, it wiped out a large number of Earth's Warriors of Light.

The fact that he almost had his mind invaded by the conch shell after absorbing only a tiny bit of the evil light made Lin Yu's teeth ache.

"So, this is a permanent certificate, meaning I can't see, think, or hear anything, right?"

Lin Yu couldn't help but continue to complain, "Old Man Jia is the embodiment of light, and you are the embodiment of darkness. You're so insidious, who can outwit you?"

Just then, the light stick on his chest heated up again, and the temperature rose significantly. Only then did Lin Yu realize that the light stick had woken him up from that terrifying dream.

A bad feeling crept into my heart.

He took out his phone and found several text messages and missed calls from Daigo on his contact list.

Seeing the time displayed, Lin Yu's heart sank – it was four in the morning in Kumamoto City.

"Damn it, I'm still in Kumamoto City, and only six hours have passed since I left the underground cave!"

Lin Yu felt like the sky was falling. "For Daigo to call, is this another offensive?"

He quickly dialed Daigo's number.

"Beep beep beep—"

The call was quickly answered, and Daigo's anxious voice came through, but he kept his voice very low, clearly to prevent others from overhearing.

"Lin Yu, you finally answered the phone!"

Daigo's tone was urgent: "A three-headed monster has appeared and is wreaking havoc on Kurara Island in the Southwest Islands! Time is of the essence. The GUTS team hasn't finished arming their weapons yet. We've completed the evacuation of most of our personnel, but our firepower is severely insufficient!"

"The Texas Cannon on Victory Swallow II was petrified after only one shot, and Vice-Captain Munakata and Rena are trapped inside! The situation is extremely critical!"

"I'll be right there!" Lin Yu replied without hesitation.

After hanging up the phone, Lin Yu couldn't help but complain: "Wow, amazing. The petrification speed of these two monsters, Gakuma and Alpha, can actually keep up with Victory Swallow II. It seems they really lack combat experience. No problem, I'll take action."

He immediately got up and ran wildly towards Kurarajima Island.

When Lin Yu went against the flow of people and crossed the petrochemical bridge to reach the scene, he was completely dumbfounded.

The scene before him was far worse than he had imagined.

The quarry on Kurara Island has been reduced to ruins, with petrified buildings and equipment everywhere. Even more horrifying are the many petrified human statues, frozen in the poses of their escape, their faces still bearing the marks of fear.

Two enormous monsters are ravaging this land.

He recognized the first monster, Gakumarin, but the third one took him by surprise.

"Damn it, the petrifying monster Jagorgon!" Lin Yu couldn't help but curse.

It was a terrifying monster that stood seventy meters tall, with huge goat horns on its head and a single, enormous eye in the center of its face, though it was closed. It walked upright, dragging a huge tail. Most bizarrely, it had two pairs of arms, and the palms of the upper pair of arms were sharp mouths!

The powerful monsters in X are so powerful that, given time, they can turn an entire planet into stone.

Lin Yu felt a chill run down his spine. "Dude, are there things like this under the quarry in Ultraman Tiga?"

Are all our opponents so overpowered these days?

Lao Yu was drenched in sweat.

Just then, Lin Yu saw that the Victory Team was still putting up a stubborn resistance. The Sherlock Car was firing its spiral cannon, and a Gakuma monster had already fallen to the ground. It was obviously the work of the Texas Cannon of the Victory Flying Swallow II.

But now the situation is clearly getting out of control.

Lin Yu quickly found Daigu, who was squatting behind a boulder with a solemn expression.

"Daigo!" Lin Yu ran over.

"Lin Yu, you're here!" Daigo's face turned grave upon seeing him. "The defense force just sent word that we need to retreat. They're going to deactivate a nuclear bomb from the last century to attack this island!"

"Huh?" Lin Yu exclaimed in surprise.

What the hell? A nuclear attack? Does TPC have no other means of attack?

Then he thought about it again and fell silent. It seemed... he probably really didn't have any more means of attack?

It's only the second morning! The monster appeared yesterday. It's unrealistic to expect the GUTS team to be fully armed in such a short time. If they don't use the nuclear bombs that should have been destroyed in the last century to attack, they can only risk their lives to buy time.

"At least a third of the residents haven't been evacuated yet, and the deputy captain and the others are still inside the petrified Flying Swallow II!"

Daigo's voice was filled with anxiety, "I'll buy you some time to stall for time. Go transform and fight the enemy!"

Lin Yu patted Daigo on the shoulder: "Okay, I'll go right now."

The next instant, a dazzling light slowly appeared.

boom--!

A giant figure descended from the sky, causing a large amount of earth to tremble!
