Chapter 10

Boundary

Chapter 10 Boundary

"Those people have been here before."

Standing still, feeling the information transmitted by the chip in his mind, this thought flashed through Adir's mind.

He stood there and frowned subconsciously, instinctively sensing that something was wrong.

"My lord, what's wrong?" Several attendants followed behind Adir, looking at him with a frown as he stood there, somewhat puzzled.

"It's nothing." Hearing the call from behind, Adir shook his head. "Let's go."

He led his men to the place where the horses had been tethered, mounted his horse first, and, guided by the guide, headed in a certain direction to explore the next location.

And so, Adir spent several days carefully exploring this area, but apart from the place he had just started in, he found nothing unusual in the rest of the place.

After some time, seemingly because nothing "abnormal" was found in the area, Adir was sent to the border to join the other knight apprentices.

···········

Several months have passed in the blink of an eye.

In a jungle in the wild, several people were cautiously exploring.

They were dressed in various styles, and their bodies reeked of a mixture of sweat and blood. They all looked like desperate criminals, but their expressions were tense, even fearful.

They moved cautiously and quickly, trying to run forward, as if they were avoiding something.

Whoosh!

The sound of an arrow piercing the air rang out, causing a flicker of fear to instinctively appear in the eyes of these men.

The sharp arrow, propelled by great force, struck one of the men swiftly and accurately in the throat, pinning him to a large tree behind him, from which crimson blood flowed freely.

"Run!" A terrified shout rang out. They seemed to have seen something horrifying, and their faces instantly contorted with fear before they scattered and fled as fast as they could to get away from the area.

In an instant, several more arrows flew from afar, striking the men's chests with incredible accuracy and speed.

Ahead, a young boy appeared under a large tree, holding a two-meter-long horn bow in his hand.

He looked very handsome, only thirteen or fourteen years old, and was dressed in black leather armor. He walked quickly from the front like a polite and refined young nobleman.

But looking at this boy, the people around him seemed to see a demon, their eyes filled with utter despair, and their bodies trembled.

"Don't run! He's alone! Let's attack together!"

Looking at Adir's figure ahead, among these people, a man who seemed to be the leader gritted his teeth and shouted loudly to the people around him.

The next moment, an arrow flew swiftly and pierced his chest, rendering him speechless.

"Damn it!"

Seeing this, some people gritted their teeth and hid behind the surrounding trees, preparing to gather together to fight against Adir.

These men were true outlaws, and they knew exactly what to do at this moment. With a surge of hot blood rising in their chests, they picked up their weapons and prepared to charge at Adir.

Of course, there were also those who still disregarded everything and rushed outwards.

However, this group also died the fastest. To prevent them from escaping, Adir picked up his bow and fired sharp arrows with great force, shooting down several who tried to flee.

At that moment, the people in front of them gathered together, weapons in hand, and charged towards Adir while shouting.

He put down the bow he was holding, and in an instant, Adir drew the cross sword from his waist with his right hand and slashed forward fiercely.

A head fell from the sky in an instant, leaving a headless corpse on the ground, which then collapsed to the side.

The battle ended quickly.

With Adir's physical abilities now nearly three times that of an average person, these people in front of him couldn't even see his movements and were easily dealt with by him.

Adir pulled his sword from a corpse without changing his expression, then quickly walked forward.

Some of those who had been hit by arrows earlier were not yet dead; they lay on the ground, their bodies twitching instinctively. The most tragic of them all was the first person, who had been pinned to a large tree by an arrow.

Adir stepped forward and ended the lives of these people one by one with his sword before looking in several directions in the distance.

In the chaos, a few people managed to escape and were not left behind by Adir.

With Adir's speed, catching up would be a piece of cake.

However, he eventually gave up on the idea and quietly stayed where he was, waiting for the people behind him to come and deal with it.

He stood there for a while, and then he heard footsteps approaching from beside him.

"Lord Adir!" A voice called from behind, and a middle-aged man in leather armor led a group of guards over. They were shocked when they saw the corpses all over the ground.

"Clean up the bodies here," Adir said calmly without elaborating.

Following the order, the surrounding guards began clearing away the corpses.

The so-called cleanup was actually more about collecting spoils. The clothes and leather armor worn by the corpses, the weapons they carried, and the money they had plundered along the way were all a considerable fortune, which the group carefully collected and gathered to one side.

Adir only glanced at the process and didn't pay much attention to it.

As was customary, most of these spoils would belong to Adir, but since Adir was all alone, he had no use for the blood-stained, tattered leather armor and crude weapons. Therefore, he only took the easily portable gold coins and other easily sellable items, and distributed the rest to the guards.

The guards around them knew this, so they were working hard to collect the items, occasionally peeling off the leather armor and clothing worn by the corpses, without any disgust at the bloodstains on them.

After collecting the spoils, only corpses remained on the spot.

There's no need to clean these up. In a few days, wild animals will naturally follow the scent of blood to find this place and digest these corpses.

After some time, Adir and the others returned to their resting place, where several other knight apprentices were sitting, seemingly discussing something.

"Adir, have you caught up with those bandits?" A familiar voice rang in Adir's ears, startling him.

That was Dir, who was wearing leather armor and holding a greatsword. He looked at Adir's figure with concern and said.

Looking at him, Adir smiled and said, "Dil, you've come too?"

Dill nodded, somewhat helplessly, and said, "There's no other way. Recently, more and more bandits have been appearing on this border, and the situation at the front is getting more and more tense, so we had no choice but to send all of us here."

"That's true." Adir recalled the situation in this area recently and nodded in agreement, then asked with some doubt, "Was this area always this chaotic before?"

"That's not entirely true," Dill said casually.

"This area is the border between our Kingdom of Arieu and the Kingdom of Bode. It has always been a chaotic place, inhabited by some savage tribes, as well as a large number of criminals and bandits who have fled here over the years. It is a very difficult place to manage. However, although it was chaotic before, it was still relatively peaceful. With the noble armed forces led by Count Borea, these people, although they were all outlaws, did not dare to cause trouble."

"However, as you know, the battles at the front have recently reached a stalemate, and the nobles are unable to spare any manpower. As a result, these people have become restless and are all looking to go south to plunder."

Dill sighed, then slowly explained to Adir beside him.

"I understand." Seeing him like this, Adir smiled gently, sat down next to him, drew his cross sword, and wiped the blood off it with a clean cloth.

After a while, a guard suddenly walked up to Adir and asked him respectfully, "Lord Adir, someone is looking for you outside."

Adir turned around, looked into the distance, and then said, "Let him come directly here."

The guards behind him nodded respectfully and quickly walked to the side. A moment later, a middle-aged hunter walked up to Adir's side.

The hunter, dressed in a heavy animal skin robe and carrying a large cloth bag, stood quietly before Adir with a humble smile on his face.

In front of Adir, he opened the large cloth bag in his hand, which contained some green snakes.

These are green-eyed snakes; there appear to be more than a dozen in the bag. To avoid venom, the heads of these green-eyed snakes have been cut off and they are placed in a separate small bag.

Looking at these green-eyed snakes, Adir's brows furrowed almost imperceptibly.

These green-eyed snakes hadn't been cleaned yet, and they emitted a strange stench. Moreover, mixed among the dried green snake blood were some dried red blood, which Adir quickly noticed.

This is extremely dangerous, indicating that someone was bitten while catching these snakes, which is why their blood splattered onto them. Given the venom of the green-eyed snake, a single bite is almost certainly fatal for an ordinary person; there is no chance of survival.

The loss of a worker is almost a devastating blow to the families behind them.

Thinking of this, Adir sighed.

In this situation, he can neither change anything nor wants to change anything.

Regardless of their initial motives, these people, having chosen to take the risk, should be mentally prepared to face the possibility. Whatever the final outcome, it is their own choice.

He took a money bag that he had prepared beforehand from the side, threw it directly to the hunter opposite him, and then, without saying anything more, gestured for the other party to leave.

The middle-aged hunter still wore that humble expression. He secretly estimated the weight in his hand, and was immediately overjoyed. He quickly and respectfully left.

After he left, some time passed before Adir stood up, picked up the cloth bag full of green-eyed snakes, and walked to the side.

He removed the snake stones from the snake meat before having it washed and disposed of separately.
