Chapter 1107
The Source of Dark Power
Just as the two sides were locked in a stalemate, Ye Lingxue, holding an ancient book, and Yang Ling, clutching the "Heart of Light," appeared simultaneously at the edge of the battlefield.
"Lord Jin Yan, we have found a way to restrain the power of darkness!" Ye Lingxue shouted, showing the ancient book to everyone.
Jin Yan's gaze sharpened as he quickly scanned the contents of the ancient book, a glimmer of hope flashing in his eyes: "'Heart of Light'? It really is it!"
Seeing this, Yang Ling didn't hesitate to throw the "Heart of Light" into the air. The jade stone instantly burst into a dazzling light, illuminating the entire ruins as if it were daytime. The light seemed to have a life of its own, automatically searching for the source of the dark power, and finally converging into a beam of light that shot straight into the darkness.
Hei Ming's expression changed drastically. He frantically swung his black longsword, trying to block the beam of light, but to no avail. The pure power released by the Heart of Light was the nemesis of the power of darkness. Hei Ming's power was rapidly weakened, and he eventually turned into a wisp of black smoke and vanished without a trace.
As the darkness dissipated, the gloomy atmosphere in the ruins receded quickly like morning mist, and sunlight pierced through the dense canopy of trees, dappling the ground and bringing long-lost warmth and hope.
"We did it!" Ye Lingxue shouted excitedly, her eyes sparkling with victory. She looked at Yang Ling, and the two smiled at each other, their understanding and joy needing no words.
Jin Yan slowly descended in front of everyone, the light on his golden armor gradually fading. He looked at the "Heart of Light" with admiration in his eyes: "You did a great job. Heart of Light, you truly live up to your name."
Yang Ling stepped forward and bowed respectfully: "Thank you for your guidance, Lord Jin Yan. If you hadn't appeared in time, we probably wouldn't have been able to deal with such a powerful enemy."
Jin Yan waved his hand, his voice gentle: "Protecting this forest is the responsibility of every guardian. Your courage and wisdom are equally commendable."
Long Xuan also stepped forward, his expression solemn: "Lord Jin Yan, since the Lord of Darkness exists, does it mean that there are even more threats lurking in this forest?"
Jin Yan pondered for a moment, then slowly said, "Although the Lord of Darkness has been asleep for many years, his influence has not completely dissipated. Today's events are just the tip of the iceberg. In the future, this forest and even the entire cultivation world may face even more challenges."
Ye Lingxue clenched her fists, her tone firm: "Then we must intensify our cultivation and improve our strength to cope with any potential crisis."
Yang Ling nodded in agreement: "That's right, we must not only protect the peace of this forest, but also safeguard the tranquility of the entire cultivation world."
Jin Yan smiled with satisfaction, took out a token from his pocket, and handed it to Yang Ling: "This is a token between forest guardians. With this token, you can ask other guardians for help when you encounter danger. Remember, no matter when or where, you are not fighting alone."
Yang Ling solemnly accepted the token and said gratefully, "Thank you for your trust, Lord Jin Yan. We will certainly live up to your expectations."
Long Xuan and Ye Lingxue also expressed their gratitude, and the three of them were filled with hope and determination for the future.
Jin Yan nodded slightly, turned to leave, but stopped and looked back at the three of them: "Remember, true power comes from inner purity and steadfastness. In the face of darkness, only light can guide us forward."
After saying this, Jin Yan transformed into a golden light and instantly disappeared from everyone's sight, leaving behind only the reborn forest and Yang Ling, Long Xuan, and Ye Lingxue, whose hearts were filled with faith.
“Let’s go. When we get back, we need to reflect on today’s experiences and strengthen our cultivation to prepare for any challenges that may come,” Yang Ling suggested. The three agreed and walked briskly through the gradually revitalizing forest. Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting dappled shadows and adding a touch of mystery and peace to their journey home.
"Ling Xue, how much do you know about the 'Heart of Light'?" Yang Ling asked as they walked, his eyes filled with curiosity about the unknown.
Ye Lingxue shook her head slightly, her tone thoughtful: "The ancient records are limited, only saying that it originated in ancient times and is the purest and cleanest thing in the world, capable of suppressing all evil and darkness. But how it was formed and why it ended up here are unknown to anyone."
Upon hearing this, Long Xuan interjected, "Perhaps there is a hidden secret behind this. If we can unravel this mystery, we can not only enhance our strength, but also perhaps bring unexpected gains to the cultivation world."
Yang Ling nodded in agreement, secretly resolving to get to the bottom of this matter. Suddenly, he stopped, his gaze drawn to a strange flower. "Look," he said, "this flower seems different from ordinary ones; there's a faint fluorescent glow on its petals."
Ye Lingxue and Long Xuan approached for a closer look. They saw that the flower resembled lotus petals, its entire body crystal clear, radiating a soft light, as if containing some kind of mysterious power. "Could this be the 'Spirit Fire Flower'? It is said that it can only grow in places with extremely rich spiritual energy, and its petals can be used as medicine to enhance cultivation," Ye Lingxue said with delight.
Yang Ling smiled and said, "Since we've encountered this, it must be fate. We might as well gather some and take them back; perhaps they will be of some benefit to the disciples in our sect."
So the three of them carefully picked the Spirit Flower, put it into a specially made jade box for safekeeping, and continued on their way.
Soon, they arrived at a valley shrouded in mist. From within the valley, faint, melodious music drifted, soothing and delightful.
"This place is like a fairyland. Could I be about to have some kind of amazing encounter?" Long Xuan looked around excitedly, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Ye Lingxue said softly, "The spiritual energy here is exceptionally abundant, so there must be rare treasures. But at the same time, there may also be unknown dangers lurking there, so we need to be careful."
Yang Ling nodded and led the two slowly deeper into the valley. As they went deeper, the celestial music became clearer, as if fairies were dancing gracefully, guiding them forward.
Suddenly, a gentle breeze blew by, the mist dissipated, and an ancient altar appeared before them. On the altar were various magical treasures and elixirs, surrounded by a faint spiritual light, clearly extraordinary.
"This...this is a treasure left behind by some senior?" Long Xuan exclaimed, his eyes filled with greed and awe.
Ye Lingxue frowned and warned, "The treasure is good, but its origin is unknown. We must not take it lightly. If we trigger any mechanism, the consequences will be unimaginable."
Yang Ling pondered for a moment and said, "Now that we are here, we might as well explore the area first, but remember not to be greedy and only take what we need."
The three then cautiously began to search around the altar. After a careful search, they discovered a yellowed ancient book with the four large characters "仙灵宝鉴" (Immortal Spirit Treasure Mirror) written in ancient seal script on its cover. (End of Chapter)
