Chapter 360
Challengers
Chapter 360 Challengers
"CMDR, the Red Team's offensive has weakened. Suddenly, a broadcast came from the walkie-talkie we captured; it seems like an 'Easter egg' has entered the arena."
Inside the library's operations conference room, Chu Zihang received a report from the frontline team members.
"Could it be that Caesar is deliberately creating a suspenseful situation to lure us in?" A staff officer cautiously analyzed. Why would Caesar be so kind as to release information about the Easter egg to warn them?
"Sniper position, what's the situation on your end?" Chu Zihang didn't jump to conclusions and picked up the walkie-talkie to ask.
"It's uncertain, but the enemy has indeed increased their reinforcements towards the school gate," Susie immediately reported.
"It should be true. Caesar doesn't mind telling us this news. He disdains to hide it, not to mention that he has already gained the upper hand." Chu Zihang immediately made a judgment.
"Lancelot, I'm handing over command to you. Reconnaissance team, follow me." Chu Zihang made a decisive decision.
"I'll lead the men to bring the paintballs back. How can the commander-in-chief risk his life?" Lancelot tried to dissuade him.
"Do you think Caesar would be holed up in his headquarters right now?" Chu Zihang said, grabbing the Murasame tablet from the table and striding out of the library. Following behind him was a squad of elite soldiers in black combat uniforms, exuding a murderous aura.
Meanwhile, a similar scene was unfolding in another church.
How could the principal not be interested in Caesar, the S-rank hybrid freshman who had awakened the Word of Power: Time Zero?
The previous hybrid with the same adjective was none other than the current principal of Kassel College, leader of the Secret Society, and the Dragon Slayer of Destiny, Hilbert Jean Angers.
With the principal now old, another S-class hybrid has appeared, perhaps signifying the beginning of a new era.
But they are all hot-blooded, proud, and flamboyant young people; who can truly submit to whom?
So what if he's S-class? His Dike Tuoduo is not necessarily at a disadvantage.
--
It must be said that the vegetation coverage of Kassel College is quite high.
Lu Mingfei didn't choose to hide in any building. He had seen many ruthless guys shelling houses, and once you got to a high floor, there was nowhere to run.
Actually, the best place to play hide-and-seek isn't some hidden corner, but a spot where you can advance or retreat as needed. He chose to hide in a relatively lush, easily accessible location, where he could attack or defend as needed.
He could then move at any time based on the sound of footsteps. Unless he was surrounded by a large area, he could easily escape with his current physical condition.
"Smack." Lu Mingfei was hiding in a tree swatting mosquitoes as he assessed the situation of the academy.
There is a special domain capable of sealing away incantations, which looks like some kind of alchemical domain, but its effect on him is very limited. There are clearly large cavities underground, most likely facilities such as nuclear bunkers or war fortresses.
As for the personnel, listening to the distant rattling of assault rifles and the occasional artillery fire, one could easily say that these teenagers were having a lot of fun.
However, it's understandable. After all, they're just a group of young students. Lu Mingfei himself used to play games in internet cafes, and the students here are even more extravagant, so it's not surprising that they can afford to play with real people.
It just doesn't seem to make sense to me. What does this childish game have to do with fighting dragons? Surely no one wants to use bullets to slay a dragon, right?
Or is this really just a training school, and the powerful dragon slayers of the Secret Party aren't here?
In any case, this place shouldn't be too dangerous, and even if he gets exposed, he can easily escape.
Lu Mingfei snapped out of his thoughts and suddenly sensed something was amiss. A group of people, at least a dozen in number, were approaching.
"Fire!" Caesar gave the order.
"!!!" Lu Mingfei groaned inwardly. He could only say that no matter how good his hide-and-seek skills were, the limited space made it impossible for Uncle Long to play.
The efficiency of firing a dozen or so submachine guns at the trees was simply outrageous.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't shoot! I'm just passing by!" Lu Mingfei quickly jumped down from the treetop and ran away.
"Stop!" Caesar stopped them. "They're running really fast. Chase them."
Caesar's insight was incredibly sharp; his skills alone surpassed those of a typical A-rank opponent, which further solidified his desire to confront him head-on.
As for escaping, the entire academy is a battlefield; who can escape?
That's right, Lu Mingfei did not escape; to be precise, he was attacked from both sides from the very beginning.
It was a similar group of about a dozen men, with the same submachine guns, but this group of men in black appeared to be taller and larger.
"Lu Mingfei, come with us." The leader held a Japanese sword in his hand, and his tone sounded somewhat cold.
"Brothers, I am indeed a freshman this year, but are you sure you've got the right person? What Lu Mingfei? That S-rank guy?" Lu Mingfei tried to argue.
However, the leader immediately removed his mask, revealing a angular, cold face and a head of sharp, sword-like black hair.
"Wow!" Lu Mingfei's eyes widened immediately. Although he hadn't seen him for more than ten years, the legendary name was already well-known.
"Lu Mingfei, it's been a long time," Chu Zihang greeted him.
"Senior Chu, it's been a long time." Lu Mingfei scratched his cheek awkwardly. He remembered now that he had heard that Chu Zihang had been admitted to a private aristocratic college in the United States. It was really reasonable for him to be here now. It would be strange if he wasn't a mixed-race person.
While the two were talking, the red team caught up from behind.
The black team immediately raised their submachine guns on alert, as did the red team.
The leader of the Red Team also removed his hood, revealing a face like a Greek sculpture, ice-blue pupils, and long, flowing golden hair. Just as Fingel had said, he was a wild man like a lion.
"Put them down." Caesar raised his hand and lowered the muzzle of his men's guns.
Chu Zihang felt the same way. At their current distance, a firefight would only result in mutual destruction; a war without a winner would be far too disappointing.
"Very good, the three of us being here at the same time is indeed the best arrangement." Caesar revealed a flamboyant and unrestrained smile.
"Hey, hey, hey, don't say things that make it sound like we're going to have a threesome, okay?" Lu Mingfei thought to himself, cursing wildly.
The main thing is that this guy's pectoral muscles are really Western.
"The Lionheart Club president, the student council president, and the S-class freshmen recognized by the principal—there's no battlefield more suitable to end a day of freedom than this." Caesar tossed and turned the Dick Tudor in his hand.
Chu Zihang also raised the Village Rain sword in his hand, ready to draw his sword and fight at any time.
Both the red and black teams retreated to make room for their respective CMDR teams.
Lu Mingfei, standing between the two, seemed like an unnecessary third party.
"If you want to have a final showdown, I can be a witness." Lu Mingfei said, trying to distance himself from the situation.
Caesar hesitated upon hearing this, mainly because they didn't have any extra weapons, and it would indeed be dishonest to win with bare hands.
He considered whether he should defeat Chu Zihang first before handing over the Murasame class to Lu Mingfei.
However, at that moment, Lu Mingfei suddenly turned his head, and a cloud of red blood mist burst out from the ground less than three meters behind him, followed by a muffled gunshot.
Even at a distance of 3,000 meters, the bullet velocity of a Barrett sniper rifle can still exceed the speed of sound.
"Damn it!" Lu Mingfei couldn't help but swear.
Caesar immediately raised his left hand, signaling the snipers at the top of the church to stop firing, and then everyone turned their attention to Lu Mingfei.
"It seems we might be the challengers."
Caesar suppressed all his pride, pulled a black tactical dagger from the outside of his teammate's thigh, and threw it to Lu Mingfei.
Lu Mingfei caught the knife hilt deftly in mid-air, revealing an extremely broken, bitter smile.
Okay, okay, so this is how you all play, right?
