Chapter 134
Wolf King
The wolf howled the moment it spotted Li En, as if sending a signal.
"Could it be a patrol wolf?"
A strange feeling welled up in Li En's heart.
He counted them; there were three, four, five...
After the wolf howled, one after another, wolves sprang out of the forest and surrounded Li En.
In a short while, there were already seven or eight of them.
"Master Meow, you've stirred up a wolf's den."
Li En looked around and knew that his deduction was most likely correct.
Otherwise, so many wolves wouldn't have gathered on the hill they had just crossed during the day.
Li En glanced down the mountain; the direction of Huangshi Village remained quiet, without even a glimmer of light.
If they had truly been attacked by wolves, it shouldn't have been so quiet.
The wolf pack was probably scouting the area in preparation for an attack.
"It seems I've arrived just in time."
Li En felt fortunate, but had already quietly begun preparing his magic.
Wolves like to hunt in packs, but this is exactly what Li En wanted.
His entanglement magic works best when enemies are grouped together; scattered enemies are harder to hit.
As the wolf pack drew closer, Li En immediately seized the opportunity to prepare his magic.
These beasts had never seen a cat use such methods before, and they were all quickly bound tightly.
Then, Li En used the same trick again, using wooden spikes to smash the brains of these guys without any mercy.
But the wolves' desperate struggle still caused him considerable trouble.
Several splinters missed their mark, but none of them were fatal.
Li En cast his spell several more times before finally eliminating all the wolves.
He suddenly felt nauseous, a sign of excessive mental energy depletion.
Although Li En's current magic power is sufficient, his mental strength is clearly not keeping up. When casting spells one after another, he can clearly feel that he is not strong enough.
After dealing with the patrolling wolves, Li Encai was just about to breathe a sigh of relief when he smelled even more wolves gathering there.
He dared not linger, so he retreated to the upwind side and then found a tree to climb.
Before long, more wolves arrived at the scene.
Upon seeing the corpse of their companion, these beasts howled angrily, then began to press close to the ground, sniffing for Li En's whereabouts.
Li En's heart tightened, and he couldn't help but feel worried.
"Won't they find us?"
A dog's nose is incredibly sensitive, much better than this cat's.
Sure enough, it wasn't long before the pack of wolf cubs found Li En's rear end and started barking wildly at the tree.
Li En pursed her lips, but she wasn't in a hurry after finding it.
Wolves can't climb trees, so they wouldn't climb up to attack him.
Ignoring the noisy barking of the dogs under the tree, Li En looked up and surveyed her surroundings.
His location was on a relatively high elevation, and he was in a tree, so he could see even further.
The main force of the wolf pack should now have dispersed into this mountain, and they are very close to Huangshi Village.
"Attracting them all like this seems like a good idea."
Li En stared at the wild wolves barking at him below, then cast a wooden spike spell.
Suddenly, a sharp splinter sprouted from the thick tree trunk and pierced into the gaping maw of a wolf in the blink of an eye, before emerging from the back of its head.
The once arrogant wolf was instantly killed, letting out a few whimpers before falling silent.
The other wolves became even angrier upon seeing this, wishing they could rush up and grab Li En.
Unfortunately, they can't climb trees.
These wolves weren't stupid. Seeing that the tree would attack them, they all moved away, but they still howled at Li En in the tree.
Seeing that they still hadn't left, Li En was naturally happy to continue harvesting wolves and casting spells.
The distance was a bit far, and the wolves were scattered, so Li En dealt with them one by one, first casting Entangling Magic and then harvesting them with Wooden Spikes.
His magic has become increasingly powerful; he can now easily unleash wooden spikes as thick as wooden stakes, significantly increasing his attack power.
Wood-attribute magic is similar to earth-attribute magic; after it is cast, the magical creation will remain for a period of time.
If the caster doesn't actively dispel the spell, the residual time is not short.
Especially now that Li Enzheng is in the forest, he is even more adept at using wood-attribute magic than usual.
After killing seven or eight more wolves, Li En needed to catch his breath and recharge.
But the remaining wolves seemed to have gone mad, refusing to leave and continuing to bark at the tree where Li En was.
"Damn, so it wasn't venting emotions after all, it was carrying out military orders?"
Li En had already figured out why these wolves were howling so tirelessly.
The scent of wolves grew stronger in the air, and Li En's ears were able to pick up the wolves' movements.
The next moment, pairs of bright green eyes emerged from the dark forest, almost illuminating the surrounding woods.
"So many..."
Li En became a little nervous. Just by counting those eyes, he figured there were probably dozens of wolves surrounding him.
At times like this, he wished he knew some area-of-effect magic, but unfortunately, all Li En knew were single-target spells. The only area-of-effect spell he knew, Entanglement, was merely for control and had no real destructive power.
Even though there were many wolves surrounding him, Li En was not worried about his safety.
The reason is simple: none of the wolves below can climb trees.
In the wild, skills like climbing trees are incredibly useful, almost to the point of being considered cheating.
If you don't want to fight anymore, you can climb a tree and return to the safe zone.
Those who can't climb trees can only howl in helpless rage, like the wolves below.
Li En was having a wonderful idea, planning to restore his magic and slowly deal with the pack of silly wolves, when a piercing howl came from the forest.
Li En felt a sudden sway under his feet, and the tree he was standing on inexplicably began to tilt, about to fall over.
This startled Li En.
He looked down but couldn't see what the wolves had done.
Seeing that he was getting closer and closer to the ground, Li En didn't care about anything else. He jumped up from a nearby tree and climbed up again.
After stepping firmly onto a branch, Li En finally felt relieved. He looked down and saw that all the wolf eyes were fixed on him.
At that moment, an exceptionally large silver wolf emerged from the woods.
This wolf's fur was pure white, unlike other wild wolves which were gray.
The silver wolf's fur shone brightly in the moonlight.
Silver Wolf was surrounded by several burly wild wolves, which were larger than ordinary wolves, but these wild wolf guards were still no match for Silver Wolf in size.
Judging from this situation alone, Li En knew he had encountered the Wolf King.
"This wolf pack really does have a alpha wolf, and it was using magic just now?"
Li En only heard a whooshing sound, followed by the sound of the large tree beneath his feet beginning to fall.
Li En did indeed sense the fluctuations of magic emanating from the Wolf King alone.
He immediately used his Quantitative Eye to carefully observe the imposing wolf king.
