Chapter 35
Chi Yuan, You Made Your Own Choice
Chi Yuan's cooking skills aren't particularly good. He just started living on his own at a very young age, so he had more opportunities to cook. His skills aren't as good as those of a restaurant chef, but they're much better than the average person.
After Huang Kai and Chi Yuan started sharing an apartment, Huang Kai ate Chi Yuan's cooking for the first time and said, "The food in restaurants is indeed very fragrant, but after eating it a lot, it gets greasy. Your cooking is different; it's authentic home-style cooking."
Home-style cooking is not just the common dishes you cook at home every day, but a taste that is different from that of restaurants.
Chi Yuan was very efficient, and since there were only two people eating, he only prepared four dishes and a soup. By the time all the dishes were on the table, only forty or fifty minutes had passed.
Jiang Haochen went into the study and didn't come out again. Chi Yuan wanted to knock on the door to remind him, but he was afraid of disturbing Jiang Haochen's work.
In his view, a CEO like Jiang Haochen must be running a business that is of utmost importance.
But if we wait any longer, the food won't taste good anymore.
"It should be fine, no matter how busy you are with work, you still need to eat."
Chi Yuan quietly convinced himself before carefully walking towards the study.
Reaching the study door, I took several deep breaths to prepare myself mentally before gently knocking.
"Come in."
Chi Yuan turned the handle and opened the door a crack, but remained standing at the door without going in: "Mr. Jiang, the meal is ready."
It's best not to go into such an important place as the study, lest I offend Mr. Jiang.
Jiang Haochen was in a video conference when Chi Yuan's voice came through, and the expressions of everyone in the video changed slightly.
Is something going on with President Jiang?
In an instant, everyone held their breath, afraid to admit they were scared, and some even hoped that the owner of the voice would come over and show his face.
After all, this is someone who can live in President Jiang's house and even enter his study.
Jiang Haochen didn't think much of it, but he was also taken aback when he saw Chi Yuan. He had been so focused on discussing work that he thought he was at the company, and when he heard the knock on the door, he instinctively let him in.
So when he looked up and saw Chi Yuan, he subconsciously frowned. Seeing that the boy had wisely chosen not to come in, his expression softened slightly: "Go outside and wait for me."
Sensing that Jiang Haochen's mood was off, Chi Yuan didn't dare to say anything more and turned to leave.
Jiang Haochen glanced at the time and realized it was almost seven o'clock, so he announced that the meeting was adjourned: "The meeting will end here for now, everyone go and have lunch."
After hanging up the video call, Jiang Haochen turned to look at his reflection in the window, a hint of confusion on his face.
He actually allowed Chi Yuan to come back in the afternoon.
He admitted that he was indeed somewhat blinded by lust, and the wonderful experience last night made him want to enjoy it for a few more days, which is why he asked Li Weiran for three days off.
But when the project made progress in the afternoon, he should have let the boy go back. He never indulged his desires, but he never let his personal affairs interfere with his work.
Alright, let Chi Yuan go back after we finish eating.
After figuring it out, Jiang Haochen got up and went out. As soon as he stepped outside, he smelled a strong aroma of food.
The aroma of food cooked in your own kitchen is completely different from that of takeout food; just the smell alone is enough to whet your appetite.
Jiang Haochen's expression unconsciously relaxed. He took a few more steps forward and could see the restaurant. At the dining table, Chi Yuan was holding a bowl of soup and placing it in the middle of the table.
The soup bowl seemed a bit hot. After putting the bowl down, the boy impatiently touched his earlobe with his fingers and even stomped his feet twice in a hurry.
"Did you get burned?" Jiang Haochen walked over from behind, naturally reaching out to pull the boy's hand off his earlobe and place it in his palm.
Chi Yuan was forced to turn around and saw Jiang Haochen's handsome face. On that handsome face, there was a gentle expression as he softly asked him a question.
What did he ask? I don't think I heard him.
"It's all red from the heat, why didn't you put something on it to cushion it?" Jiang Haochen scolded.
Chi Yuan wanted to pull his hand back, but couldn't bear to, his face flushed with conflicted emotions: "No...it's not hot."
"Huh?" Jiang Haochen looked at him as if to say, "You're lying to my face, your fingers are all red."
Chi Yuan changed his tune: "It's not too hot."
Jiang Haochen: "Even if it's not too hot, you shouldn't do this. You're an actor; your body doesn't just belong to you. Actors often have to film close-ups of their hands. Your hands are so beautiful; if you burn them, it'll be hard to find a hand double."
Chi Yuan: "I'm sorry, I... I'll be more careful in the future."
Seeing that the boy had taken it to heart, Jiang Haochen didn't continue the topic: "Let's eat. Let me try Chi Yuan's cooking."
Mr. Jiang called my name.
It wasn't just an ordinary, common way of addressing someone; it was a term of endearment that made Chi Yuan a little excited.
In the past, Mr. Jiang would always call him "little kitten" or "cutie," which was more like a wealthy person teasing their pet.
"I... I only cook home-style dishes." Chi Yuan didn't dare to guarantee that his cooking was delicious, nor did he want to say that his cooking was bad.
Saying it's delicious would make me seem narcissistic. Saying it's not delicious, what if Mr. Jiang really doesn't want to eat it?
Four dishes: stir-fried beef with yellow peppers, braised prawns, green vegetables, and Mapo tofu. Two meat dishes, two vegetable dishes, plus a fish soup.
Looking at the white and tender fish soup, Jiang Haochen didn't wait for Chi Yuan to do anything. He took a bowl and ladled out half a bowl himself: "Let me try this fish soup that burned my baby's fingers."
Chi Yuan's face flushed, and he sat motionless in the chair opposite, his eyes gazing hopefully at the person opposite him, waiting for their evaluation of the food.
Jiang Haochen hummed in agreement and praised, "Your cooking skills are pretty good."
As he spoke, he ladled out another half bowl of fish soup, clearly indicating that he genuinely thought it was quite good.
Chi Yuan finally felt relieved, and a shy smile appeared on his lips.
Jiang Haochen hadn't had such a hearty appetite in a long time. He ate two bowls of rice and four dishes in one go, leaving only some side dishes and chili peppers.
Jiang Haochen said somewhat discontentedly, "Make two more dishes next time."
Jiang Haochen enjoyed the meal, and Chi Yuan was naturally happy too, readily agreeing while subtly praising himself: "I can cook other dishes as well."
Jiang Haochen was indeed satisfied: "Then I'll wait to eat."
Chi Yuan hummed in agreement, his eyes sparkling, and stood up, spontaneously beginning to clear the table.
Jiang Haochen looked at Chi Yuan's hardworking figure, like a little bee, and suddenly remembered that he wanted Chi Yuan to leave.
But the atmosphere was so good, and the food was so delicious.
It seems inappropriate to kick people out at this time.
Well, as long as I don't go into the study, everything else is fine.
Having made up his mind, Jiang Haochen got up and went to the kitchen.
When Chi Yuan saw Jiang Haochen coming over, he assumed he was going to help, so he quickly said, "I'll wash it, you don't need to get involved."
How could he bear to let Mr. Jiang wash the dishes?
Jiang Haochen said: "Chi Yuan."
Chi Yuan looked up, gazing intently at Jiang Haochen.
Jiang Haochen: "When you stay here, don't go into my study."
Chi Yuan's cheerful expression suddenly froze.
So you're really angry?
I was very careful when I knocked on the door just now, I just opened the door but didn't go in, but is Mr. Jiang still angry?
Chi Yuan quickly lowered his head, not wanting Jiang Haochen to notice his reddened eyes: "Okay, I won't go in."
"Um."
Completely unaware of anything amiss, Jiang Haochen went back to his study to work.
Chi Yuan was left alone in the kitchen, washing the dishes over and over again.
"What a spineless child, why are you crying? It's your own fault for not being mindful of your status. Mr. Jiang was already being very polite by not kicking you out."
As if he had finally convinced himself, Chi Yuan quickly went to the bathroom, splashed his face with cold water, and then tried to smile at himself in the mirror.
