Chapter 2792
Trading a Computer
Chapter 2792 Trading a Computer
Alliance, Susco.
Inside the room, Pavel was playing a game with his secretary.
The two of them took turns going up and down, fighting fiercely and evenly.
He would occasionally exclaim in surprise, followed by a comment like "You're amazing!" which gave Pavel, the old man, a sense of pride.
bang bang
Suddenly there was a knock on the door. Pavel's face darkened. Didn't he realize he was in the middle of something exciting?
Who's so clueless as to bother him at this hour? Don't they know it's rest time?
Don't you want to stay in this business anymore?
bang bang
The knocking grew louder, and Pavel shouted impatiently, "Shit, this is private time, don't you know that?"
bang bang bang
"Oh, I'm going to kill you!"
"Get in here!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the door opened, and Chilvonenko walked in from outside.
Upon entering, I saw the two people sitting on the carpet and exclaimed in surprise, "You shameless bastard, playing games during work hours! You have no shame!"
As he spoke, the female secretary tactfully placed the game console controller aside, and Chilvonenko plopped down and began to control the tank to run onto it.
Pavel snorted and continued playing the game.
After the game ended, Pavel asked, "What are you doing here all this time?"
"Not busy anymore?"
Chilvorenko sneered, "How could I not be busy?"
"If we weren't busy, this alliance would collapse!"
Pavel curled his lip. "It's not like the league won't function without you."
Chirvonenko chuckled, then put the game controller aside, his face serious. "Pavel, you might have to go to China again this time!"
"what?"
Pavel nearly jumped up from the ground, his expression instantly turning ferocious. "Do you know that because of the nuclear power plant incident, I have to bring two bodyguards with me whenever I go out now?"
"I'm already like this, and you still want me to go?"
"Are you saying I'm living too comfortably?"
Chilvonenko pressed down hard on the game console controller, then said helplessly, "Aren't you having a great time right now?"
"Your secretary spends all day playing video games with you and doesn't do any serious work. You're something else."
Pavel sneered, "If I do something serious, some people won't be able to sleep."
Chilvonenko shrugged. "I can't sleep now."
Pavel raised an eyebrow. "Just say what you want to say. Stop rambling on and on. I'm busy right now."
After saying that, he tossed the game cartridges on the table; there was also the latest Predator game there.
Chilvonenko put down the game controller and said in a low voice, "The moon landing program has run into problems again."
Pavel's eyes lit up upon hearing this, and he felt a strange sense of excitement.
Since the moon landing program was prioritized over space-based weapons, the Alliance's attention to it has plummeted.
Although the Space-Based Program also includes projects related to lunar landing, in his view, this is the second or even third step. But now, the first step hasn't even been done properly, yet they're already starting the second step. How can they succeed when the foundation hasn't been laid?
Therefore, in his view, failure was inevitable.
However, since it was an important project for the league and concerned the league's reputation, Pavel couldn't go too far.
"Oh? What's the problem this time?"
Pavel spoke casually and appeared calm.
Chilvonenko sighed and then said, "The problem still lies with the computer used for the moon landing."
"Huh? Wasn't this supposed to be resolved last time?"
Pavel frowned.
The last time we landed on the moon, the landing computer malfunctioned due to a programming error, preventing the lander from landing and ultimately causing the mission to fail.
Fortunately, no one logged in that time; if someone had, it would probably have been another incident.
The alliance's landing operations have suffered repeated setbacks, which has also severely impacted its international prestige.
Some people even began to waver in their faith.
The United States took this opportunity to promote its democratic superiority, practically boasting about how amazing they are, that they've landed on the moon, while you're still bungee jumping on this little planet.
How can the great league tolerate something like this?
Since we can't tolerate it, then we have to prove it with facts.
Thus, landing on the moon became an obsession for the Alliance; they had to go.
In order to get up there, they issued strict orders.
at all costs.
When Pavel asked him a question, Chilvonenko didn't know how to answer.
For a moment, they fell silent.
"Ugh."
"Let's just consider it for the sake of the alliance."
After a long silence, Pavel spoke again.
Ultimately, it was that bright red sickle and hammer that held a very heavy place in his heart.
Chirvonenko glanced at Pavel, then chuckled, "You might not know this, but China has started building nuclear power plants again."
"What?"
Pavel shuddered; it was best not to mention that word near him.
But Chilvonenko laughed and said, "Really, they're building it by the sea this time, so if you go, I don't think anything will happen."
"So, you shouldn't be in any danger this time."
"At most, at most, I'm just not very popular, that's all."
Pavel rolled his eyes. "Seriously, I want to ask you something, why the hell aren't you going?"
Upon hearing this, Chilvonenko gave a wry smile, "Because I'm going to France."
"Oh, damn it, what kind of time is this bunch of French chickens? They still think they're the overlords of the past. Now they're nothing but plucked chicks."
Pavel watched Chirvonenko rant for a full five minutes before smiling and asking, "So, you're going to France to get their CNC machine tools sorted out?"
Chilvonenko took a deep breath and nodded vigorously.
"As you know, the United States, with a bunch of damned guys, is trying to block our machine tool industry. If we want to change the status quo, we need to introduce better technology."
"I must say that French CNC systems have their merits. Their newly launched machine tool customization function is very suitable for the integrated use of complex machine tools, which is very important to us."
"But."
"These damned French are as stubborn as their damned 'freedom'."
Chilvonenko started complaining again, which made Pavel very happy.
After Chirvonenko finished speaking, Pavel turned off the game console and then asked, "So, what about my mission?"
Chilvorenko shook his head. "I'm just informing you of a mission. As for what you'll do, that depends on what your superiors say."
After saying that, he got up to leave.
Pavel didn't get up and continued tidying up the game console in front of him.
When the door opened again, the female secretary walked over, ready to continue playing games with Pavel. However, the latter put the game console aside, reached out and squeezed the female secretary's hand, and said calmly, "Let's play a different game."
The next day.
Pavel arrived at the office and had barely sat down when his secretary led in a very obese middle-aged man.
As soon as he entered, Pavel felt that this guy was no good.
He was broad-shouldered and stout, with a large belly.
He had small eyes but wore a pair of large glasses, which looked quite comical.
Add to that his thick hair and bushy beard, and the fact that he kept staring at his secretary's backside while walking—this guy was definitely no good. But he didn't dare offend him, because this man was the director of the Alliance Computer Research Institute, a top-ranking figure in the Alliance. Crucially, this guy had a powerful brother-in-law who wasn't afraid of trouble wherever he went.
"Oh, dear Tradviv, I never expected to see you here."
Pavel stood up and greeted him, and Tradviv warmly embraced him.
“Pavel, it’s a pleasure to see you too.”
"Yes, it's been a long time since we last saw each other. How have you been lately?"
"It's alright, but things aren't going too smoothly at work."
Tradviv found a place to sit down and then naturally changed the subject. Pavel asked, "I heard I need to go to China. Oh my god, that's not a good job."
Tradvif understood the implication in Pavel's words and then laughed, "The nuclear power plant incident is not your fault. If anyone is to blame, it's them for not learning their lesson. If they were to target you because of this, it would be a loss of national dignity."
Pavel just smiled and thought to himself that what the other person was saying was utter nonsense.
If it's really targeted, the other person might just lose their composure, but he could very well lose his life.
"Traldov, what are you sending me to do this time?"
Pavel didn't want to waste any more time on small talk and decided it was best to lay his cards on the table.
Upon hearing Pavel's words, Tradviv bluntly stated, "We've encountered some problems in our computer research."
"This is directly related to the success or failure of the lunar landing spacecraft."
"So this time when you go to China, you need to exchange for one of their technologies."
Pavel asked with suspicion, "Our computer research has already surpassed theirs. What kind of technology would they need that requires China's?"
Tradavi sighed, "Our research on ternary computing requires more advanced and precise semiconductors, but we have been unable to achieve a breakthrough in the process."
"The ultrapure silicon provided by Huaxia has a much better performance than the one we produce ourselves, and we suspect that they are using new technology."
"While this new technology may not solve our current predicament, it can provide us with a reference to improve semiconductor production, thereby enhancing our computers and even surpassing those of the United States."
Pavel frowned upon hearing this. "They might not be willing to trade such important technology."
Tradvif nodded. "That's why I sent you."
"After all, you were the one who completed the mission last time, allowing the Alliance to obtain the 'Space-Based Project,' which is why we chose you to go this time."
Pavel gave a bitter smile. "Should I be very honored?"
Tradvif smiled, then took a document out of his briefcase. "Here are the details. Take a look. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me."
"Okay, I won't hold back if there are any problems."
After finishing speaking, Tradviv got up to leave, but as he reached the door, he suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right, there's one more thing."
He held up one finger and said, "If possible, buy two telephones from there; I mean satellite phones."
"As you know, the research on satellite communications is a bit slow. The higher-ups have been urging us for a long time, but there's been no progress, which is giving me a real headache."
"If we could have a satellite phone to investigate, I think the progress would be much faster."
After saying that, she smiled and left.
Pavel, behind Tradviv's back, also raised a finger, but it was the middle finger.
The old city of Beijing, the courtyard house.
When Yang Xiaotao got up in the early morning, he was scalding the water pipes with boiling water.
It was so cold that the hand pump well froze solid.
Fortunately, the well water is still usable, but the pipes need to be thawed.
As for the tap water in the courtyard, it had long been frozen. If the people in the courtyard wanted to use water, apart from their own water tanks, they could only wait for the sun to come out and the tap water to thaw.
Yang Xiaotao poured a kettle of hot water into the hand pump and quickly pressed down hard. After a while, he felt the pressure change and then slowed down. The water flowed out in no time.
Ran Qiuye came out of the house carrying a basin, which contained a layer of millet.
"It's cold outside, just give it to me."
Yang Xiaotao stepped forward, took the basin, and asked with concern.
Ran Qiuye tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, her walk was a little unnatural, but she looked very happy.
"Fortunately."
He responded with a sound of agreement, then asked the question he had repeated several times last night, "Do you think Xiaobing can really do it?"
When Yang Xiaotao heard the question again, he was at a loss for words.
But considering the tenderness I showed last night, I still said it from the bottom of my heart.
“It really can be done. This kid has a great talent for computers. Let him go to the research institute to learn from him. Maybe he can help me.”
But after saying that, he thought to himself, "He's a Voldemort too."
Hearing Yang Xiaotao say this again, Ran Qiuye's smile became even brighter. "That's good. But this kid has never been willing to endure hardship since he was a child, and he often gives up halfway through things. Now that he's with you, you'll have to keep a close eye on him."
"Also, don't let him use you as a cover to cause trouble everywhere."
"No, I have to warn him. That brat might actually do something like that."
As Ran Qiuye continued talking, Yang Xiaotao quickly washed the millet and handed it over. If they continued talking, Ran Hongbing would probably get a scolding before he even officially joined the factory.
"Don't worry, I will definitely treat everyone equally."
Ran Qiuye nodded, then took the basin and tugged at Yang Xiaotao's arm, saying, "Take care of him too."
Yang Xiaotao immediately nodded, "Don't worry, he's my brother-in-law after all, the kids' uncle, I have to take care of him."
Ran Qiuye turned around with a smile, her long, thick black braid swinging over. Yang Xiaotao instinctively wanted to grab it and tame the little red horse.
After breakfast, Yang Xiaotao led the old Taoist priest and Elder Ye into the car and arrived at the Ninth Department.
As soon as I entered the gate, I saw Ran Hongbing ride his bicycle through the gate and then rush towards the research institute.
"This kid has a fierce streak."
The old Taoist priest chuckled to himself, while Yang Xiaotao shook his head and remained silent.
Once I arrived at the office, I processed documents as usual, and then I read a book.
But before I even got there in the morning, Old Chen called.
After saying just a few words, Yang Xiaotao was stunned on the spot.
"Boss, are they out of their minds? How dare they make such a request?"
Yang Xiaotao almost laughed out of anger. The production technology of high-purity silicon was definitely the Ninth Department's top secret.
The league actually wants this? That's really wishful thinking.
"That's what I said too, but the other party was very sincere and even said they would send someone over to negotiate."
"I think they're determined to win this time."
Hearing what Old Chen said, Yang Xiaotao was speechless. "Leader, this isn't about sincerity. If we give them the technology, what are we going to do?"
"If they want to develop computers, then they should do their own research and development. What kind of nonsense is it to try and take advantage of us?"
"If they're really sincere, then fine, let them exchange their technology for it."
Upon hearing Yang Xiaotao's words, Old Chen's hand sank, and he almost dropped the phone.
The last trade with the league was a complete rip-off.
A project destined to fail turned into research data on a nuclear power plant. Now, the construction of the Dengzhou nuclear power plant is progressing smoothly and it is estimated that it will be operational and generating electricity within one or two years.
In short, they made a profit from the last transaction.
Now Yang Xiaotao is saying he'll exchange technology for it. Is this guy trying to scam people again?
Thinking this to himself, Old Chen asked, "Have you taken a liking to their technology again?"
Upon hearing this, Yang Xiaotao was taken aback.
He was just saying it out of anger.
But now, he feels that if he really has to make a change, he can't afford to be at a disadvantage.
So he said, "If they are sincere, let them exchange their computer manufacturing technology for it."
