Chapter 491 Back Again
Zhuang Yanzheng drove back to Changshi City, and the road was very bumpy.
Su Miaoyi was jolted awake by the jolting, and just as she was about to take a nap, she was jolted awake again.
"Brother Zheng, stop up ahead, I'll drive," Su Miaoyi said.
"No need," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "You should get some sleep."
"I can't sleep, why don't you get some sleep?" Su Miaoyi said.
"Rock, paper, scissors, whoever wins gets to turn it on," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "One round decides the winner."
"Come."
Once the car reached a spacious area, Zhuang Yanzheng slowed down and used one hand to play rock-paper-scissors with her.
With just one move, Su Miaoyi lost.
Zhuang Yanzheng smiled and continued driving.
Su Miaoyi pursed her lips, looked at her hands, and said after a few seconds, "Best of three."
Zhuang Yanzheng snorted: "I knew it."
"Best of three," Su Miaoyi repeated.
"Come."
Then Su Miaoyi lost three rounds.
Su Miaoyi looked out the car window and remained silent.
Zhuang Yanzheng looked at her: "Best of five?"
Su Miaoyi remained silent.
He already has three wins, why is he still talking about best of five?
Zhuang Yanzheng smiled and said, "How come you're so bad at the game that you still lose even when I let you win?"
Su Miaoyi glared at him.
Zhuang Yanzheng smiled again.
Su Miaoyi's phone rang; it was Duan Wenrui calling.
Ask them if they have gone back yet.
Su Miaoyi told him that they were on their way back.
The night they arrived, Duan Wenrui planned to go to Yanjing Village as well, but as soon as he left the city, Su Miaoyi and the others found the letter and prevented him from coming.
After hanging up the phone, Su Miaoyi said, "Captain Zhuang, it's your dinner party."
Zhuang Yanzheng said, "It was very late when we got to the city."
"So, Captain Duan said tomorrow," Su Miaoyi said.
"Okay," Zhuang Yanzheng said. "Aren't you going?"
“It doesn’t seem right not to go, since they’re all people from the Changshi Bureau,” Su Miaoyi said.
“If you don’t want to go, then don’t go,” Zhuang Yanzheng said. “I can represent our municipal bureau; my position is not shameful.”
Su Miaoyi glanced at him, smiled, and said nothing.
Maybe it's because we grew up together and I'm too used to seeing him. He is handsome, but we tend to overlook his good looks.
"When you thought you were Su Miaoyi without Qin Leyan's memories, the first time you saw him, you thought his appearance was very good," the voice in your head suddenly said.
Su Miaoyi tapped her temple: "I suffered because I have no memory."
"What?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked.
"I didn't tell you."
"Oh."
The journey was too long, and Su Miaoyi had nothing to do while sitting in the car, so she finally took a nap.
When I opened my eyes again, the sun was almost setting.
She sat up slightly and moved her stiff neck.
I tilted my head to the right and heard two cracking sounds from my neck.
"Wow, that sound," Zhuang Yanzheng said. Su Miaoyi, however, kept her head tilted to the side and didn't move.
Zhuang Yanzheng looked at her: "Are you twisted?"
Su Miaoyi blinked, but tilted her head and didn't move. She raised her index finger to her lips, making a "shh" gesture.
Zhuang Yanzheng realized what was happening; she had seen something.
He didn't say anything more and quietly drove forward.
As they drove, Su Miaoyi suddenly grabbed his arm: "Brother Zheng, we might have to go back."
Zhuang Yanzheng's narrow eyes nearly widened as he pulled the car over to the side of the road: "You really saw Zhao Yongliang again?"
"No, no." Su Miaoyi frowned. "It's that village where the fight took place."
"Don't rush, tell me slowly."
Su Miaoyi was silent for two seconds, then quickly reviewed what she had seen: "There's something wrong in the mountains."
"What did you see?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked.
"In the village where the fight broke out at noon, the man who was holding the stick was talking the whole time. Next to him was a man who looked to be around fifty years old, but he didn't say much. Did you notice him?"
Zhuang Yanzheng thought for a moment: "I saw him. He was a man around fifty years old, holding a shovel. He didn't say much, but he was very agitated. He was the only one of the villagers who hadn't said much while standing at the front."
“Yes, it’s him,” Su Miaoyi said. “What I just saw was the scene of him killing someone. The victim called him Huang Qi, but I don’t know which two characters it was. Huang Qi called the victim his second uncle.”
"He killed someone?"
Su Miaoyi said, "I saw it from the perspective of the victim. I don't know what the victim looked like. He was hit on the head with a stick and then pushed down the mountain."
"What was the motive for the murder?" Zhuang Yanzheng asked.
“He must have found something on the mountain,” Su Miaoyi said. “Huang Qi said, ‘Second Uncle, I didn’t want to, but you saw something you shouldn’t have seen, and there’s nothing I can do about it.’ Then he swung a stick at his second uncle’s head.”
“We saw something we shouldn’t have seen.” Zhuang Yanzheng repeated. “What important things in the mountains would they not want others to discover? And what things in the mountains are unknown to the villagers? This isn’t our first time going to that place. The road we’re on now is the only road to their side. There are few people and few cars on this road.”
Zhuang Yanzheng analyzed, "The vehicles we encountered on the road were almost all belonging to villagers who went to work or live outside the village, only occasionally returning. With so few people, the important things in the mountains shouldn't need to be transported out. What could it be?"
Su Miaoyi shook her head.
Zhuang Yanzheng started the car and turned it around: "Let's go back first and talk about it later."
Su Miaoyi looked at him.
Zhuang Yanzheng said, "Although we came to Changshi this time because of Qianying, since we saw the murder, we have to do something about it. Besides, we don't have any clues about Qianying's case right now. Let's go back and see what's going on. If it's not too complicated, we'll hand it over to the local police."
Su Miaoyi nodded.
“However, I have a feeling this matter is not simple,” Zhuang Yanzheng said. “What you see is not simple.”
Su Miaoyi did not speak.
Zhuang Yanzheng glanced at her: "What's wrong?"
"I always feel like I've overlooked something important," Su Miaoyi thought about the scene she had witnessed.
"Think about it first, it'll be several hours before we get back," Zhuang Yanzheng said.
"I'll drive," Su Miaoyi said, thinking that Zhuang Yanzheng would be very tired.
"You focus on thinking. I'll drive."
It got dark halfway there, and by the time we arrived in Yunguang Town it was already very late.
After discussing it, Su Miaoyi and Zhuang Yanzheng decided not to stay in Yunguang Town, but instead drove a little further back to the town where Yanjing Village is located.
They moved back to the same place.
They were worried about alerting the enemy, so they stayed here first.
I also communicated with Duan Wenrui on the way here.
After eating something, the two put their things in their respective rooms.
Su Miaoyi put down her suitcase, glanced at the lock on the window, and then drew the curtains.
There was a knock on the door, and she went to open it.
Zhuang Yanzheng held his phone, which showed that he was on the phone with Qi Feng.
"Something's up." He went into the room and closed the door.
