Chapter 240, Part 10: The Final Hunt (Part 1)

They cut down thorns to make bowstrings and sharpened arrowheads on rough stones.

When Oliver, draped in a long robe, stepped into the desolate and dilapidated concrete jungle of the slums, the scene before him reminded him of his experience of being stranded on a desert island more than half a century ago.

For the past six months, he has been having the same dream repeatedly.

I dreamt that he rowed his small boat back to the island.

In his dream, he was no different from in reality—a wretched old man with a leg tumor and failing eyesight. It would take him most of the day just to make a decent bow and arrow. In that time, the squirrel on the tree trunk could have stuffed its cheeks full of nuts.

But in his dream, he wasn't there to shoot squirrels; he was there to find someone.

As for who to contact, Oliver was also at a loss.

He followed a familiar figure, but it flickered in the dark forest, appearing and disappearing, impossible to catch or hit.

Oliver had been troubled by this dream for a long time, but for some reason, he had a strong premonition today.

He might be able to find the answer.

"The story of a hero's twilight is always heartbreaking, but Oliver, I need you to open your arms once again—"

Oliver, twirling his goatee that fluttered in the wind, muttered to himself as he resolutely took a big step forward.

"Come on, for the final hunt, for the glory of Green Arrow—ah!!!!!!!!!!"

A heart-wrenching scream rang out as the aging concrete slab beneath Oliver's feet suddenly shattered.

If he hadn't been quick enough to grab the exposed steel bar, he might have become the first superhero to die from posing and talking too much nonsense.

"This world is truly full of malice towards the elderly —"

He struggled back to the roof and rubbed his right arm, which was plagued by a chronic ailment; the unreliable old thing was starting to sting again.

Well! Now, let alone drawing a bow, even raising a hand is difficult.

Meanwhile, Black Arrow and Roy were also rushing to the abandoned hospital.

On the way, after hearing Malcolm reveal the true identity of the fake Green Arrow, Roy almost couldn't catch his breath.

"The Judgment Knight? You mean that guy who caused a huge commotion in Gotham, casually dropped a nuclear bomb on Metropolis, and ultimately escaped right under Superman's nose!?"

"It was him, but I have to correct one thing: no one can escape from Superman's watchful eye—although in some ways, persuading Superman to let you go is even harder."

Black Arrow shrugged.

Humans rarely come into contact with superhumans, but through their words and actions, it is not difficult to infer their personality—rigid, dogmatic, and inflexible.

That is precisely why Superman can represent the principles and justice in the eyes of the general public through his personal image.

After all, extreme justice is often devoid of emotion.

But this man, who is as emotionless as the U.S. Constitution, actually let the terrorists who stirred up Gotham go free. Who would believe it if I told them!

Roy was still upset about losing to the fake Green Arrow, but after hearing Black Arrow's words, he felt much better.

It's not shameful to lose to a man who has fought his way through a monster's den like Gotham.

"So it was him, no wonder! But surprisingly, the Judgment Knight is much younger than I imagined."

"Superman was younger than General Zod when he was sent into the depths of space to save the world—all I can say is that some people are destined to be the protagonists of this world, and all we have to do is follow in their footsteps."

"What if one day they turn against the whole world?" Roy disagreed with Malcolm's point of view. "Then the world will be the one in the wrong."

Black Arrow gave a sinister smile.

Born into the Assassin's Creed, he knew that might makes right.

Moreover, he felt that humans did not deserve to have superhumans.

Or to put it more bluntly, if he were Superman, he would definitely be tempted to join General Zod's faction and use his heat vision to burn this corrupt and decadent world to ashes.

On the other side, a paranormal blogger jumped over the cordon and arrived at the abandoned site of Peace Star Hospital.

What is the current secret to internet traffic? The answer is: grabbing attention and riding the wave of trending topics.

By plugging this result into the formula, this clever blogger naturally came up with the secret to gaining followers: pretending to be a ghost and going to an abandoned hospital to teach his peers a lesson.

His perceived peers were, of course, the fake Green Arrow livestreamer on TikTok, who was enjoying immense popularity for a time.

Upon learning of the other party's itinerary, he prepared his equipment like a superhero about to enter the battlefield.

Rotting rubber faces, a large bucket of blood, and of course, those miniature megaphones that can create surprising little noises.

-

He was confident that once the fake Green Arrow entered the abandoned hospital, these things would bring unexpected surprises to his peers. As for the terrifying rumors circulating in the abandoned hospital, he wasn't entirely without fear, but when he thought about the rapidly increasing number of subscribers, those dangers became less deadly.

After entering the hospital, the blogger began his disguise in the security room at the entrance.

They put on masks and poured blood on them, and the rotten, musty smell in the air assaulted their nostrils.

The man couldn't help but sneeze, the loud sound echoing through the dark, gloomy corridor.

An uneasy feeling eventually crept into my heart.

"How about we scare him at the entrance and make him leave quickly?"

The man's Adam's apple bobbed as he glanced at the fans flooding into the live stream, but ultimately decided to proceed as planned.

After finishing his makeup, he installed miniature loudspeakers in the corners along the way, and, clutching the cross, he shakily made his way deeper into the hospital.

Broken windows, walls peeling gray from the dampness, medical supplies scattered on the floor, and even a tattered rag doll.

The details of supernatural horror movies came true in real life, and the man was so frightened that he trembled.

After browsing the first floor, he prepared to head to the second floor.

But no sooner had their toes touched the steps than the night vision goggles suddenly started flashing as if interfered with by some kind of signal, and then stopped working.

The mobile phone also failed shortly afterward.

The live stream started flickering and lagging; viewers could see the streamer, but the streamer couldn't see the viewers.

Now the blogger completely lost any intention of playing pranks and retreated in the pitch-black darkness, trying to return the way he remembered.

At that moment, he only regretted not bringing a flashlight. After the night vision goggles completely failed, the suffocating silence seemed to bind him tightly like a straitjacket.

His collar was already soaked with cold sweat, his wet hair clung to his forehead, and a musty, eerie wind surged from the depths of the passage, irritating his nearly collapsing spirit.

"Help me—someone please help me!"

At this moment, the man's mind was filled with the terrifying rumors about the abandoned hospital, and he could no longer think of anything else. His steps quickened, and his weak breathing turned into heavy panting.

No supernatural force ever tried to harm him; what broke the man was his rich imagination.

But this conclusion only applies to the present moment. As he stepped on a wooden plank with exposed steel nails in the darkness, the pungent smell of blood finally awakened the monster lurking in the shadows.

As the man fumbled to pull out the rusty nail piercing his foot, a piercing buzzing sound suddenly came from behind him.

He turned his head in alarm, and with a gust of foul wind, a long stream of thick, warm liquid was poured onto his head.

There really is a monster!!!

The taut nerve snapped with a crack, and the man, having lost his mind, let out a deafening scream.

Soon, the stench returned after turning a corner at the end of the corridor. The man felt two sharp, claw-like objects pierce his shoulder blades, and then his entire body was hoisted up.

His live-streaming equipment fell to his feet, allowing viewers to see what happened through the bright green night vision lens.

Amidst the violent signal fluctuations, a gigantic, bat-like monster flashed across the screen.

At that very moment, the number of viewers in the live stream officially surpassed that of the fake Green Arrow, climbing to the top of the leaderboard.

If men knew, they might feel gratified.

Just as the bat-like monster dragged the screaming man into the depths of darkness, a blinding light suddenly flashed around the corner.

Stimulated by the bright light, the bat-like monster instinctively flapped its wings to shield its eyes, and taking advantage of this moment, the emerald green figure struck like lightning.

The nearly 1000-pound right hook slammed solidly into the bat monster's head, shattering its sharp teeth and dislocating its jawbone, which was comparable to that of an enhanced human. Even its eyeballs popped out of their sockets.

boom! !

With a loud, powerful thud of muscles colliding, the bat monster howled and broke free of the man, pinned down by its attacker.

It flapped its wings, trying to break free, but the latter clearly didn't want to give it any chance. With one hand gripping its neck and the other pulling on its wing bone, it tore a large gash in its left wing.

"You're a bat? Then what am I? Sorry! I almost forgot, I'm now the fucking Green Arrow of Star City!"

Who else could be coming besides V-Bat, who's always spouting swear words?

After securing the exclusive naming rights to the bat image, a series of inhumane and devastating blows followed.

Left hook!

Slam down with your right fist!

Elbow slash!

Headbutt!

Amidst the fading wails, Wei Guang swiftly finished a combo and gracefully rose, leaving the monster convulsing in a pool of blood.

If Kurt Longstone were given another chance, this zoologist, whose work was mutated by experiments, would certainly not accept the invitation from the Gotham financial group to come to some bullshit Star City.

After all, back in Gotham, he chose to lock himself in the basement because he was intimidated by the violent methods of the Judgment Knights. He never expected that even in a different city, he still couldn't escape the fate of being brutally beaten by the Bat.

The scene shifts back to the present, and Qin Wei notices the paranormal blogger who is lying face down on the ground.

"Hey, are you dead?"

Fearing a trap, he poked the other person with his toe.

"I'm still... thanking... thanking... you saved me!"

The blogger turned around with difficulty and gave Wei a "nuclear-kind" smile.

Why is it called "nuclear goodness"?

Because this guy forgot he was wearing a scary mask.

Holy crap!!!

Wei was startled by the sudden attack and kicked the man in the head.

Although the blogger reacted quickly and managed to pull off the hood, and Wei also managed to pull back his strength at the last moment, this blow still granted the man a peaceful sleep.

Thus, this lucky blogger, through a series of unexpected events, achieved his two small goals—scaring off his peers and gaining followers—at the cost of a severe concussion sustained in bed for four weeks.

"What kind of mess is this?!" Qin Wei complained, touching his pounding heart.

Just as he was about to drag the two barely alive men out of the hospital, a dart struck him in the ankle from the shadows.

Green Arrow's combat suit blocked the attack, and a dazzling cluster of sparks erupted in the dark corridor.

Because Wei was wearing a vision device, the light from Mars temporarily blocked his vision, and he could only identify targets by hearing until the device was restored.

In the darkness, the sound of a grappling hook cutting through the air rang out beside me.

A sudden change in wind pressure means that something is rapidly approaching.

Wei instinctively raised his hand to block, and the sharp object collided with Na's armor, sending sparks flying again and shattering the screen that was just about to be restored.

Realizing that his opponent was using his equipment against him, Qin Wei simply ripped off the Gondo camera.

"A wise choice! But are you really prepared to wrestle with a cat in the dark?" A loud and clear male voice echoed from the depths of the corridor, like a man singing an opera on stage.

"Darkness is not just your stage."

Wei licked his lips and gave a roguish smile.

"Besides, you're not the first cat I've met. I hope you can bring me some novelty and enjoyment, just like the last one."

.

The cat-man, hidden in the shadows, was unaware that Qin Wei was taking advantage of his request, and patted his chest, readily agreeing.

His name is Thomas Black (again, Thomas), a famous antiques collector, and before his bankruptcy, Gunther was one of his major clients.

During a business deal with Gang Owl, the astute Black keenly discerned Gang Owl's true identity—the Gotham Tribunal Knight—based on the injury on his shoulder.

Most of the wealthy people in Gotham are a little mentally unstable. While the rich in other cities are finding all sorts of ways to live a life of extravagance and debauchery, they are racking their brains to cause trouble in their own city.

Blake was one of them. With the idea that "if he can do it, so can I," this rich young master, who had nothing better to do, bought himself an expensive battle suit and, like Thomas, bought a whole set of bat gear, from a four-dimensional belt to a grappling hook gun, and even sharp claws like those of a raptor.

But he didn't want to appear under the owl's name, so after thinking it over, Blake's gaze fell on the Egyptian golden cat statue in the living room.

Ironically, Selena, who was only seventeen years old, was the same person who started her theft on the same day as Blake. To make matters worse, Selena's first target was Blake's mansion.

The former took down a group of thugs in the alley, while the latter stole an Ottoman scimitar (the one lost by Evraim the Claw) from Blake's house.

The two furtive individuals bumped into each other at the street corner.

"Why are you wearing my clothes? You stole my things!?" Blake almost collapsed when he saw the pair of cat ears on Selena's head.

Unexpectedly, the brilliant idea he had painstakingly come up with turned out to be the same one someone else had, which was simply unbearable for the cat-man who sought to be different.

Of course, Selena was more focused on the second half of the other person's sentence.

Thinking it was the owner who had come chasing after them, the cat thief sneered and drew its blade.

"If we're going to seek thrills, let's go all the way!"

The ending is self-evident: how could a pampered rich kid possibly be a match for Selena, who was abandoned by her father at a young age and struggled through the muddy streets of Gotham's East Side?

The man was beaten black and blue, and his head was stuffed into a trash can on the street corner.
