Chapter 226

These floating carriers are equipped with automated weapons, utilizing advanced energy beams. The technology behind these beams is no less sophisticated than that of Iron Man. However, when these energy beams struck the fel-powered warships, they only produced sparks, failing to penetrate the decks. The fighter jets fared the same way; neither their onboard cannons nor their missiles could penetrate the decks of the fel-powered warships, nor even budge these colossal structures.

Then, the fel warships launched their counterattack.

The main gun at the bow of the warship began charging, and then a beam of fel energy burst forth, instantly obliterating a floating carrier in mid-air. Meanwhile, the fel cannons on both sides of the warship unleashed their firepower, turning the circling fighter jets into smoke and explosions.

Upon first contact, the airship, which was valued by the World Security Council, was reduced to fragments and fell from the sky. The fel-powered warship, after opening fire, instantly cleared the entire skies above New York City of any resistance.

Afterwards, debris from the airship fell from the sky and crashed into New York City, bringing another wave of destruction to the city.

But an even more serious crisis was yet to come.

After clearing away the aerial resistance, the fel warships that had been hovering over New York City unleashed green beams from their undersides, striking various parts of the city. Where these green beams passed, fel fire ignited on the ground, and then temporary green portals opened throughout the city, allowing the demonic army to enter.

Unlike the Chirettas' previous expansion strategy centered on the Manhattan area, the Burning Legion chose a strategy of spreading out in all directions. They opened portals in densely populated areas, allowing the demon army that set foot on this land to immediately begin rampages of destruction and slaughter.

Fear, wailing, and despair permeated New York.

—The Burning Legion has arrived.

……

……

Asgard, the fairy palace.

In the royal hall, the white-haired, one-eyed god-king, seated on his throne, leaned on Gungnir, looking down at the excited Thor. His remaining single eye held an unfathomable expression.

"Father, I beg you to open the Rainbow Bridge and let me go to Midgard." Thor knelt on one knee, pleading anxiously, "A disaster is happening in Midgard, and my comrades there, including Jane, need my help..."

“Alas, I’m afraid that won’t work!” Odin sighed. “A moment ago, I instructed the guardian gods to seal off all roads between Asgard and the outside world, and to recall all warships that were out there. Now, the space where Asgard is located is one where one can enter but not leave.”

"Why?" Thor looked up in astonishment.

"An unimaginable catastrophe has swept in, Thor Odinson." The aged voice of the King of Asgard proclaimed, "The raging flames will engulf the entire kingdom. In the illusion reflected in the Mimir Well, all realms will face a destructive force, and all things in the universe will face annihilation."

“This… Ragnarok, no, wasn’t that already over?” Thor asked. “Wasn’t the cycle of fate already over when the Loom of Fate was burned? Besides, the Land of Fire and Surtr, the king of the fire giants, have already perished.”

“It’s not Surtr. It’s not Ragnarok either, but a catastrophe for the entire universe.” Odin replied solemnly. “Our universe… has been abandoned by its rulers. The glory and immortality of all planetary gods, the Father God… and the cosmic gods will perish. Even this abandoned universe will face unprecedented changes.”

"Thor, in the dark dimension that you and most people cannot see, the rulers there have been killed, and the entire dimension has become an outpost of the Destroyer of Realms. Countless monstrous monsters and weapons are pouring into this universe through that dimension."

"Moreover, there are many more incredible things that have been linked to this universe in this catastrophe."

"The upheaval has already occurred, and there is nothing we can do about Midgard. Now, the horns of Valhalla are about to sound, and the entire Asgard will face an unprecedented war."

"A war even more painful and brutal than the battle against the frost giants—"

"—And I will die in this war."

After slowly recounting the facts that had left Thor bewildered and terrified, Odin raised his head and looked ahead. His gaze pierced through time and space, revealing a colossal entity faintly visible in the dark dimension—the true form of the Titan.

"The Burning Crusade has begun!"
