Chapter 2
Quick Thinking
"This...is really an interesting question."
Luther finally spoke slowly.
"It is true that the physiological structure of superhumans is indeed highly similar to that of humans on a macroscopic level."
"But at the microscopic level, his cells, his DNA, and the underlying mechanisms of his energy operation originate from a civilization outside the solar system with a completely different evolutionary path."
Is it too...anthropocentric to directly apply the fundamental concept of "reproduction" from Earth to him?
The Luther Organization's wording was impeccable.
His gaze had already sharpened, locking onto Suren's face, trying to catch any flaw.
But Suren showed no sign of anything amiss, and instead presented an argument that Suren could not refuse.
"On the contrary, in my opinion, one can obtain enormous amounts of energy and physical abilities simply by the light of stars, without the need for food or complex metabolism."
"A civilization composed of such beings is structured as if it were tailor-made for interstellar colonization; a single individual could conquer an entire highly civilized planet."
"And if such a creature were to arrive alone on a planet inhabited by life, the fastest way to convert it into territory would be..."
Suren had clearly prepared his answer long ago, but he didn't finish.
After all, Luther's fists were clenched, his knuckles making a slight cracking sound, and the veins on his forehead were bulging.
This is understandable, after all, Superman, or rather Clark Kent, is not only the most powerful being on this planet.
He was also Luther's friend. Given how Suren had made such a fuss about him, it was already quite polite of Luther not to have the security guards throw him off the roof.
"Directly modify the genes of local organisms to breed an entire legion."
Luther regained his senses quickly; after only a few seconds of silence, he continued following Suren's train of thought.
"Your idea is bold and feasible."
Luther finally nodded, his tone revealing admiration.
"It makes us even more eager to see what your future work will bring."
Luther stood up, meticulously buttoning up his exquisitely handmade suit, and extended his large, warm hand toward Suren.
"Then I wish you a pleasant start to your new job."
His voice was calm, and there was no trace of the substantial anger that had just filled the office.
Suren stood up at the same time, her heart no longer as calm as she appeared on the surface.
He held Luther's hand and could clearly feel the steady and powerful force coming from the other.
"Thank you very much for answering my questions and for the job opportunity you offered."
The door opened silently at just the right moment, and Susan, holding a thick stack of documents, smiled and waved to Suren from the doorway.
As the door behind Suren closed, the panel formed by the convergence of light reappeared.
[The Homo sapiens Lex Luthor's brain development is approaching the current peak of his species.]
Based on the duration and depth of interaction, this analysis is rated D.
[The following skills are available]
[Memory Palace: Significantly enhances memory capabilities, allowing you to instantly recall memories with all the details via an index.]
[Rapid Thinking: Significantly increases the activity of nerve cells, greatly enhancing the ability to think about single problems and improve concentration.]
[Multi-dimensional chess games: Significantly improved ability to handle multi-threaded tasks, and capable of calculating game models and providing solutions.]
"A Class D?"
In terms of time and level of understanding, this assessment is quite appropriate.
Suren was not discouraged; it was already good enough that she had gained a skill from just a conversation and a handshake.
After a moment's thought, Suren chose the second skill.
As an ordinary person, it is already commendable to be able to think things through clearly; photographic memory and multiple game strategies are not skills he needs for the time being.
An indescribable cool sensation instantly flooded my brain, as if replacing the old circuit with superconducting material.
Suren could clearly feel that his thinking had suddenly improved.
His question was not unfounded; it was a carefully considered one, formulated after integrating fragments of the original owner's knowledge.
Given that Superman and Luthor are good friends and have a relatively close relationship, Lois's pregnancy would not be kept secret from him.
Judging from Luther's reaction, his loss of composure, which is almost absolutely rational, proves that his behavior and words were not feigned!
Clearly, he had no idea that his question was appropriate, nor did he know that Kryptonians and humans could reproduce!
Although Suren's understanding of the DC Universe is not comprehensive, he can still remember the core plot points.
Superman used his super hearing to hear two heartbeats on Lois's body, which confirmed that she was pregnant.
The human fetus's heart begins to form and has a fetal heartbeat that can be detected by modern medical equipment, usually around the sixth week of pregnancy.
A clear and stable fetal heartbeat, which confirms survival, can only be heard around the seventh or eighth week.
So, as things stand, Louise is probably not pregnant yet; at the very least, the embryo hasn't developed to the point where it has a heartbeat.
Otherwise, given Superman's relationship with Lex Luthor, there would be no reason for him not to tell his friend such wonderful news.
Therefore, I still have time to collect abilities from other worlds in order to deal with the upcoming Metropolis crisis.
Two weeks.
Suren was neither overly optimistic nor overly pessimistic.
He should have two weeks. If he couldn't stop the disaster during that time, Suren would have no choice but to run away as soon as possible.
Therefore, for now, what he needs to do is to improve his strength and finances as much as possible and make preparations.
If I remember correctly, there is an extremely sturdy underground bunker at the base of Lex Building, capable of withstanding the impact of a nuclear bomb.
Luthor hid there until he was rescued by Superman.
If possible, Suren would certainly hope that Superman and Lois could avoid that disaster.
However, the [Source Point] on the panel was not improved.
Suren's heart sank slightly.
Therefore, it seems that the criteria for judging the "Change the Main World" setting on the panel are very strict.
It requires you to directly change the world, thereby causing a shift in the worldline.
Thus, the approach of changing the world through the butterfly effect to obtain the origin has been proven to be unworkable.
"Sulen?"
The secretary's voice pulled Suren back to reality, and her beautiful brows furrowed slightly.
"If there are no problems with your contract, please sign it here."
Suren blinked, following the other person's fair finger, her eyes still filled with a hint of confusion.
He picked up the pen engraved with the LR emblem and, as if by muscle memory, signed his name on the contract.
He didn't look at the terms carefully because he didn't really have any choice.
"Welcome to Lexcorp, your department is BARC."
"Someone will take you there shortly and introduce you to the basic job duties."
After saying that, she put away the documents and walked away quickly.
