Chapter 24

Return

"Of course," Roland said with a smile.

Matthew breathed a sigh of relief upon hearing the affirmative reply from the other party.

But Luke was getting anxious. "But, Lord Roland, Matthew is on the list of those to be recruited."

Moreover, the school is currently short-staffed and desperately needs a junior apprentice like him.

Roland frowned and said with dissatisfaction.

"Matthew has completed the assessment and proven his intelligence; he has the right to return to the wizarding world."

"Or are you, Luke, questioning the evaluation standards set by the school?"

Faced with Roland's questioning words, Luke's face turned deathly pale.

He received a lot of materials from Mold and promised to assign Matthew to the group he was in charge of during this recruitment.

Now that Roland had spoken, he dared not say anything more.

"Lord Roland is right, it was an oversight on my part."

Roland didn't even glance at Luke. With a wave of his hand, a scroll shimmering with light appeared out of thin air.

He gathered magic at his fingertips, imprinted his own rune mark on the scroll, and then handed it to Matthew.

"This is your assessment report, which I have certified. I hereby declare that you have officially passed the project assessment."

Matthew gripped the reel tightly, looked into Roland's eyes, and asked in a low voice.

"So, when can I return to the wizarding world?"

"Anytime is fine."

Matthew was overjoyed. He didn't want to stay in the Winter Realm for even a moment longer, and then he spoke up.

"I want to go back now."

Roland nodded. "Come with me."

As the two entered the hall, Luke stood frozen like a statue. He opened his mouth, but no words came out.

The hall was very spacious, and Roland led Matthew up the stairs at the end of the hall.

The staircase went all the way down, leading deep underground.

Soon Matthew appeared in front of a tightly closed door.

There was a layer of runic barrier in front of the door, which prevented even mental energy from penetrating and spying on what was inside.

This is the teleportation array between the Wizarding World and the Winter Realm. Matthew used this teleportation array to get here.

Reappearing in front of the teleportation array, Matthew instinctively clenched his fist.

"Finally... I can go back!"

As the barrier dissipated, the heavy door slowly opened, revealing complete darkness inside.

"If we go through, we can return to the wizarding world."

Without any hesitation, Matthew stepped into the teleportation portal.

……

Inside a lounge at the Winter Realm School's headquarters.

Mold leaned back on the bench, his legs propped high on the table.

Today is the day the school recruits its third batch of apprentices. As soon as noon arrives, the squad he is in charge of will set off for the Snow Fang Clan's lair.

He casually flipped through the recruitment list for the third batch of apprentices.

When he saw Matthew's name printed on it, a cold smile involuntarily crept onto his lips.

"Matthew, we'll be seeing each other again soon. I hope you won't regret your decision."

"My great-grandfather will soon have another living being with dragon bloodline, he should be very happy."

At that moment, Art rushed into his lounge.

At this moment, Mold was in a good mood and was not interrupted by Art's rude intrusion.

"Why are you in such a panic? What's wrong?"

"Lord Mold, Matthew has run away."

"What?" Mold stood up abruptly, hardly believing his ears.

"Matthew... he ran away."

Mold strode forward and grabbed Ate by the collar.

"Say it again!"

Art was terrified by Mold's reaction; he shrank back and even his voice became stammering.

"Matthew, he's run away."

Silence froze in the air, and an unnamed rage surged within Mold.

Where did he go?

"I heard from Lord Luke that he completed his assessment and returned to the wizarding world."

"What? He actually went back to the wizarding world?"

Mold took a deep breath and released At.

"I understand, you can go out now."

A moment later, only Molde remained in the lounge.

He sat alone on the bench, lost in thought.

He originally thought that once the draft began, Matthew would be in his grasp.

But he didn't expect Matthew to run away, and even return to the wizarding world, a direction he had never considered before. Now his plans were completely disrupted.

Mold is now filled with regret.

"I should have taken down this kid back then."

Although the schools of thought openly forbid fighting within the Realm of Winter.

However, Mold could still afford the cost of killing a worthless apprentice like Matthew.

But things were different when Matthew returned to the wizarding world after completing his assessment.

"It seems the training will have to be delayed again."

Mold clenched his fist so tightly his knuckles cracked. "Matthew, you can't escape!"

……

Meanwhile...

After Matthew stepped into the portal, he felt as if he had entered nothingness, surrounded by endless darkness.

Their mental power was also restricted, preventing them from extending their perception.

He looked back and found that the gate had disappeared.

Matthew gritted his teeth and continued walking forward.

"I wonder if the system can detect this area."

Without hesitation, he opened the system and found a familiar notification pop up.

[Insufficient mental energy; item cannot be detected.]

"It seems this isn't a true void, otherwise the system wouldn't have popped up a notification."

"It's just that my mental strength is too weak right now, so it can't be detected."

Thinking about this, Matthew couldn't help but marvel at the system's power, as it could even detect passages between two dimensions.

And so he kept walking forward.

I don't know how much time passed...

Matthew suddenly felt a sense of weightlessness, followed by a blinding flash of light that stung his eyes.

He clutched his throbbing head, looked around, and found himself in a room that seemed strangely familiar.

Memories flashed through my mind: this was the portal room in the wizarding world.

"I'm back!!!"

Matthew breathed in the long-missed air of the wizarding world and felt a surge of joy.

Just then, a voice came from beside his ear.

"Isn't that Matthew?"

Following the sound, Matthew found the speaker's name in his memory.

He took out the scroll containing the assessment and verification materials Roland had given him from his spatial bracelet.

"Lord Nord, I have completed the assessment and am now officially returning to the wizarding world."

"Hmm..." Nord took the scroll, looked at its contents, and then handed it back to Matthew.

"You are the third novice apprentice to return from the Winter Realm, after Alvin and Holtz."

These two people knew Matthew back in the Winter Realm, and now that he heard their names, Matthew couldn't help but ask curiously.

"Lord Nord, how are they now?"

They're all dead.

"Now that you have completed the assessment, go to the Apprentice Tower to report for duty."

"The apprentices there will tell you the precautions."
