Chapter 23
The Memory Pill of the Dragon Didin
The creature inside the black and red sarcophagus seemed enraged by the words of the dragon Diding; the heavy sarcophagus lid throbbed wildly, and the black and red smoke grew thicker and thicker.
An even more terrifying scene unfolded: Sophia, hiding behind a small mound, saw dark red blood flowing down the thick stone coffin and onto the ground.
The lower half of the dragon Didin, who was standing in front of the sarcophagus, was shrouded in black and red smoke, and Sophia heard a 'slapping' sound.
It was as if a giant hand was hidden in the black and red smoke, slapping the body of the dragon Diding.
"You're old now, and your blood handprints have lost their power. I remember when I was little, you could slap me away with one hand, and the ghost hand conjured by your necromantic power could drag me to your stone coffin."
Now I'm standing before your stone coffin, wanting to go inside and lie down for a while, but you won't let me. What are you afraid of? Are you afraid I'll throw you out of the coffin and lie down in it myself?
Diding opened his mouth and blew a breath into the black and red smoke surrounding the dragon's body, and the black and red smoke instantly dissipated.
Sophia saw several blood-red handprints, each the size of a head, appear on Distin's dragon body.
"Are you going to pick out a few ghost books for me yourself, or do you want me to go in and choose?"
Diding's dragon claw, wreathed in purplish-blue lightning, landed on the lid of the black and red stone coffin.
Sophia was stunned. Was the dragon Diding about to lift the coffin lid?
She watched as Tessine's dragon claws slowly rose, the heavy coffin lid gradually ascending, and more thick, dark red mist surged from the coffin, swirling around the heavy lid and pulling it down.
"It seems you want me to go in and choose."
More and more blue-purple lightning crackled on Diding's dragon claws. The next moment, three black and red beams of light shot out from the coffin, struck Diding's dragon body, and then slid down to the ground.
Diding caught it with his dragon claw, glanced at it, and then said, "Only three books? Oh well, three books it is. I'll come back to borrow more after I finish these three."
He released his dragon claws, and the heavy coffin lid slammed down with a 'thud,' then slowly sank into the dark red earth.
Sophia, who had been hiding behind a small mound, watched the black and red coffin sink into the ground. She then crouched down and approached Distin. "Distin...Lord Distin, how come there's still...a coffin in hell? They've all become ghosts, can they die again?"
"What the hell? There's a zombie living in there, and that stone coffin looks like it can only hold two or three zombies, but it's actually quite spacious inside, only a little smaller than my dragon's lair."
Diding handed the three ghost books on the dragon's claw to Sophia. "Read these three ghost books."
"Huh?!" Sophia exclaimed in astonishment. Wait... Lord Dragon Diding didn't 'borrow' the book for himself? He lent it to her?
And you're letting her read three books at once?
No!
Please have mercy on her, she really doesn't want to read, especially not ghost books!
"Um... I don't seem to have time to read. I want to cultivate wasteland for Lord Distin and push dragons... I mean, push fertilizer. I really can't find the time to read."
Oh, by the way, I was summoned up here again and had that blonde girl with heterochromia buy some piglets, calves, and chicks for Lord Distin. This time, I'm going to help Lord Distin raise these animals.
Oh, and I also bought a few sheep. I have to herd them, so I really don't have time to read. So... Lord Distin, you can read it yourself."
Sofia racked her brains for reasons to avoid reading the ghost book.
"You've been promoted."
"?"
"A promotion...a promotion?"
"Yes, you are now the field manager. You don't need to push dragon dung or cultivate wasteland. You are responsible for supervising the skeleton soldiers' work and assigning them tasks."
The position of garden steward is relatively easy, with plenty of time for reading.
Diding shoved the three books from Dragon Claw into Sophia's hands. He could tell that the little brat wasn't lacking time to read, but rather didn't want to.
Sophia hugged the three ghost books with a mournful face. She originally wanted to throw the three ghost books into her soul ring, but after thinking about it, she realized that it would be a bit disrespectful to the dragon Diding's "labor".
She put the two ghost books into the spatial dragon scale hanging on her chest, and picked up the remaining ghost book to read.
The cover of the ghost book made her feel extremely uncomfortable. The cover featured a bleeding red eyeball, and the font of the ghost book... was a crooked, dark red, as if the title was written in blood.
The problem is... she doesn't recognize the words on the book cover.
It is another ancient script.
If the archaeologists of the Kingdom of Roland knew that there were so many ancient scripts in Hell, they would probably wish they could fall into Hell while they were asleep, just like her, so that they could study these ancient scripts there.
"Lord... Lord Destin... I don't recognize this script..."
"Simple." A flash of light appeared at the tip of Destin's dragon claw, and a black and red pill the size of a human fingernail appeared out of thin air, hovering above his fingertip. "Eat it, and you'll be able to read the words in the Ghost Book."
"?" Sophia swallowed hard, took a step back, and looked at the pill with a look of resistance. The black and red pill was smoking. "What... what kind of pill is this?"
"Memory Pill, a pill made from the words in that zombie's memories. Take it... and you'll be able to recognize these words."
"?"
Memory pills?
There are pills like this?
Even the most insane potion master in the Kingdom of Roland would probably struggle to concoct such a pill, no matter how hard he tries.
"Will there be any side effects?"
"There will be a little."
"!" Sophia shook her head: "Then I won't eat it. I'll learn and study slowly. Reading is for self-cultivation, and I can't be impatient."
"Aren't you going to ask about the side effects?"
What are the side effects?
"You will experience the hardships and suffering that the authors of these words endured when they learned them. Don't worry, it won't affect your personality or memory."
Distin grinned. How can you learn without suffering?
"Can I not eat...?"
"Okay, but in that case, I'll have to teach you myself."
Diding prepared to put away the [Memory Pill]; he wouldn't force Sophia, that brat.
"I'll take it! I'll take the pills! I can't let Lord Distin's time be wasted on me!"
Sofia stood tall and proud.
Are you kidding me? If she really had to let the dragon Distin teach her the words in the ghost book, wouldn't she have to stay under Distin's nose the whole time?
How can we steal dragon dung like this?
eat!
You absolutely must take the memory pills!
Lord Destin the dragon would never feed her those pills with such severe side effects.
"Aren't you afraid of the side effects?"
"No, no... I'm not afraid!"
Destin tossed the Memory Pill to Sophia.
Sofia opened her mouth to catch it, closed her eyes, and swallowed it in one gulp.
The pill melted instantly in her mouth. She closed her eyes and waited for a while, but nothing seemed amiss.
Sofia cautiously opened one eye, looked at her hand, then at her leg, and seeing no change, she opened her other eye and touched her head...
It doesn't have horns on its head.
However, when her gaze fell on the cover of the ghost book, she noticed that the dark red text on the cover was twisting and changing.
She suddenly appeared in a spacious and bright classroom.
