Chapter 60

The Beast of Decay and Crystallization

Chapter 60 The Beast of Decay and Crystallization

Step by step, the filthy beast emerged. It was only the size of a horse, with a broken, pink crystal-covered wound in the center of its chest, from which dark green pus oozed.

Its tail was unusually thick and powerful, whipping restlessly across the earth and pulverizing the soil and rocks. The end of its tail was also covered with crystalline fragments.

It doesn't resemble the tail of a typical creature; it's more like the body of a python.

"Originally, there should have been a lion's head and a snake's head as well. Bringing desolation to the Chimera." It's another monster from the epic, but like its previous form, its current state does not match the legend.

The beast that symbolizes desolation in the records is now corrupt and filthy.

"Are you alright?" Rorschach forced himself to remain calm in the face of the newborn monster.

Ina was already slightly dizzy; the spells she had used up had consumed a lot of her energy. She didn't speak again, holding her breath and trying to recover some of her strength.

The flight spell had worn off, and the two slowly descended to the ground.

The previous molt still contained remnants of Rorschach's ether, so he hurriedly replenished it and cast [Stone Shaping], causing earth elementals to climb up and envelop the monster's body.

The monster continued to roar and struggle. It wasn't as strong as I had expected... Rorschach could feel it struggling, and the earth kept collapsing. Rorschach kept "activating" more to fill the gaps, forming a huge cocoon.

Quickly, compress it quickly.

On one side, Rorschach was using the [Stone Shaping Technique] to compress and solidify the cocoon, while on the other side, he was trying to inject external ether into his body to restore his magic power.

This action caused Rorschach's temples to tense, his stomach to contract, and he forcefully suppressed the urge to vomit.

You cannot interrupt the spellcasting!

Rorschach had a strange feeling; his brain was trembling and spasming, and his mouth was filled with bitterness.

Compress it again, compress it again!

The earthen cocoon had been compressed to its limit; if it were a normal creature, its internal organs would probably be completely ruptured, but the other party was an inanimate object.

Rorschach activated the aether, causing it to flow and transform rapidly into fire element, and the surface of the earthen cocoon began to melt. This was the hottest fireball Rorschach had ever cast.

There were no raging flames, only a red-hot, molten cocoon. Rorschach needed the sand to vitrify, and as he wished, the viscous hot magma gradually revealed the shape of a monster, like a sculpture.

But Rorschach felt a deep unease: the other party had not launched an attack yet, only struggling slightly before enduring his attacks.

Does it actually work?

As soon as the thought crossed Rorschach's mind, he sensed a sharp increase in pressure inside the cocoon.

"Ina, defend!"

A stone wall instantly appeared in front of the two. The instant the [Stone Wall] spell was cast, Rorschach unleashed [Ice Ray] towards the cocoon. A massive explosion was blocked outside the wall. The combination of the instantly cooled and solidified molten sand and the increased pressure inside the cocoon caused it to explode completely.

Since it couldn't be contained, he might as well detonate it. With this thought in mind, Rorschach cast the spell. As soon as he finished casting, Ina pushed him away, and the stone wall was violently smashed open by the ram's horn.

Shards of stone stung as they hit him, and the jagged edges cut his skin. Rorschach fell to the ground, his eyes meeting those of the ram's head, now shrouded in pink crystal. It ceased its whistling, remaining still after crashing through the stone wall, its pink crystal eyes cloudy and dull.

"Run!" Rorschach pulled Ina along, stumbling as they moved. The monster raised its head, then slowly lowered it back down, its lion claws digging into the ground to gather strength.

A gust of wind swept past behind, and this time the ram's head slammed solidly against the wall. It was the previous molt, shaken by the impact.

"Ina, can you fly again?"

"Yes, but it won't last long." The two rose again, dodging the third impact. From their vantage point, Rorschach noticed that the monster's pink crystals had increased in number.

The mutated chimera sensed that its target was floating in the air, and its impact was no longer effective. It slowly circled around Rorschach's feet, like a predator waiting for its prey.

As it paced, the monster continued to growl, its thick, muffled voice constantly shifting upon close listening. Ether continuously gathered around it, and a dark green liquid oozed from its body, revealing more shimmering pink crystals.

Unlike the previous large head, it was manipulating ether; it was casting a spell, transforming the ether into a corrupt, dark green aura. It wasn't transformation; it was corruption.

Ina came to a terrible conclusion: "It is chanting." Forcing herself to stay awake, she began to overdraw her magic, squeezing out three silver stars.

One crystal shattered a small portion of the pink crystal, while the other two remained unaffected as they pierced the decaying flesh. Ina's spell failed to interrupt the monster's casting, and the aura of decay within the cave intensified.

High or low temperatures had no effect on it. Rorschach now realized that most of his Evocation attacks were ineffective. He tried to use Stoneshaping to interfere with the monster again, but despairingly discovered that he couldn't control the aether surrounding the monster.

Can't control it? Then don't try to control it.

"Mage Ina, please don't cast any spells next," Rorschach made a strange request.

One bag, two bags… Ina noticed Rorschach taking a paper packet from his storage ring and scattering glistening white sand. Rorschach quickly shook it off, and the sand drifted onto the monster and around it. It was somewhat comical, like a chef sprinkling salt on ingredients.

Too slow, Rorschach simply grabbed a handful of paper packets and used "projectiles" to aim at the monster and launch them.

"What is that?" Ina couldn't help but ask.

Before Rorschach could answer, the anomaly occurred. The condensed aether, controlled by the monster, activated the vibrating quartz, causing sand to shatter into even finer powder. The aether shrieked silently, sending extreme tremors through the mages without the need for eardrums. The explosive wave, carried by magic, assaulted the spellcasters present, including the ferocious beast.

It roared, its flesh and pus rapidly evaporating amidst the onslaught of the chaotic ether. More pink crystals crawled over its body, making it even more rigid. The frantically flashing pink lattices indicated their instability, and cracks began to spread across its already crystallized shell.

The spell was interrupted, and a new shockwave from the material world struck. This time, without the amber bubble to protect them, Ina and Rorschach were slammed against the stone wall and crashed to the ground. The stench of blood rose, and pain surged through them. The explosion also caused the outermost layer of the shell to finally give way, the earth shook violently, and it looked like it was about to collapse.

The source of the impact, the Beast of Corruption, completely crystallized, transforming into a shattered and incomplete crystal statue.

On its abdomen, crystal fragments peeled away bit by bit, revealing a long, thin, withered hand emerging from within. It was dry and sharp, just bones covered with a thin membrane.

"Again?" Rorschach no longer had the strength to suppress the nausea rising within him, but what came out wasn't bile or gastric juices, but sweet, fishy blood. A sense of despair also surged up with it.

"Don't be afraid, you have done very well."

The panel suddenly lit up, and the [Deryaz Forest (Red)] appeared.

Without a second thought, Rorschach activated it directly. Without the blood magic array, with just a thought, the ether transformed into grass, trees, and forests, glowing with blue light, the canopy supporting the crumbling cave.

The fluorescent light continued to gather, neutralizing and annihilating the pink crystals, clinging to the withered hand. The blue fluorescent light was inexhaustible and continuous, absorbing and transforming the chaotic ether, which flowed into the emaciated remains.

Ina had already fainted. Rorschach saw a tall, deer-headed god with a human body walking out of the forest. He reached out to the mage, and a beetle landed on his fingertip.
