Resurrection
Chapter 1 Resurrection
"Where am I? Who am I?" The boy, with delicate features and skin so white it was almost translucent, held his forehead with one hand, his face contorted in pain.
Memories flooded his mind like a tide, then quickly receded, leaving only basic frameworks and impressions, just enough to reach the limit of his immature brain.
"I am Slytherin, Salazar Slytherin." The boy finally remembered his name—he was the greatest wizard in the world and one of the founders of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
A thousand years ago, Salazar Slytherin, nearing the end of his life, stumbled upon a mysterious stone. Inspired by snakes, he used the stone's powder to concoct a potion. After taking the potion, he fell into an eternal slumber, much like a snake's hibernation.
As planned, during his hibernation, he would shed his skin like a snake every hundred years. With each shedding of his skin, his body would transform into a younger state, until his physical form resembled that of a ten-year-old boy, at which point Slytherin would awaken.
His bold experiment was a success.
After a brief period of joy, Slytherin, upon awakening, was left bewildered: he didn't know what to do. According to his pre-slumber plan, he only needed to wait for this body to fully develop into adulthood to regain all his memories and restore his peak strength, but should he find something to do during this time?
Why don't we go back there and take a look?
An idea popped into his mind and then grew like wildfire in his heart, unstoppable. He wanted to go back to Hogwarts and see what the school he and his friends had founded was like now.
Fortunately, my body is in the right condition to meet the admission requirements, so I can go back to Hogwarts as a student.
However, since he is traveling incognito as a student, he can't use the name Salazar Slytherin anymore; he needs a new name.
After a moment's thought, Slytherin extended a finger and drew a few lines in the air. The name "Salazar Slytherin" appeared in mid-air, and then a few letters changed their positions on their own, and a completely new name appeared.
"Les Chassalla Lint"
Salazar thought the new name was good.
From today onwards, my name will be Rice.
After choosing a name, Rice began tidying up the things in the stone chamber and used magic to conjure a white linen robe for himself to wear.
A few minutes later, Rice saw the sun again.
For a thousand years, Rais had never seen the light of day. He couldn't help but close his eyes and enjoy the warm sunlight. The entrance to the stone chamber slowly closed behind him and eventually disappeared. Everything that belonged to Slytherin was completely buried deep underground.
A gentle breeze ruffled his hair, carrying the distant sounds of voices.
"Here is the right place..."
What are they talking about? Rice frowned.
Over a thousand years, the language used by the people living on this land has undergone tremendous changes, and Rice cannot understand this unfamiliar language at all.
Fortunately, he was an excellent wizard, so solving the problem at hand was not difficult for him.
After granting himself the "Knowledge" ability, Rice finally understood the strange words and accents—the Muggles nearby were discussing camping.
Rice narrowed his eyes. Although he didn't have a good impression of Muggles, it wouldn't hurt to have some contact with them and learn about the changes in the world. After all, a full thousand years had passed, and even a prophet couldn't predict what the world would be like a thousand years from now.
He walked quickly toward the source of the voices.
Compared to his previous time in the stone chamber, Rice now carried a small brown leather pouch at his waist. As he walked, it would occasionally make a sound disproportionate to its size. This pouch contained the living expenses Salazar Slytherin had prepared for his future self before his death, which was Rice's entire fortune.
……
"I'll go gather some firewood." As soon as they arrived at the campsite, Hermione Granger volunteered to take on the task of gathering firewood.
"Go ahead," Mr. Granger replied absentmindedly, then continued struggling with the camping tent in his hands.
"Don't go too far, be careful, and remember to come back for tea later." Mrs. Granger, who was packing her luggage, gave her a few words of advice, but before she could finish speaking, the little girl disappeared from Mrs. Granger's sight.
After getting her mother's permission, the little girl ran into the woods and bumped into Rice, who had come running after hearing the noise.
In Hermione's eyes, Rice was a weirdo. He wore clothes that you only see in TV shows, and his skin was frighteningly white, as if he hadn't been in the sun for a long time.
Although his attire was unusual, Rice still looked like a boy of about ten years old, so Hermione didn't put up too much of a wary act and instead struck up a conversation with him: "Are you here camping too?"
"..."
"I came with my parents. Where are you from? Your outfit is quite retro; is it a traditional style from your area?"
"..."
Are you lost?
"..."
"Speaking of which, we don't even know each other's names yet. My name is Hermione, Hermione Jane Granger. What's yours?"
"Les Chassalla Lint".
After asking a few simple questions, although Rice didn't respond to most of them, Hermione still made her own deduction: Rice was probably a child who had gotten separated from his parents.
Out of a simple sense of justice, Hermione decided to take him to her parents so they could help Rice find his family.
Rice didn't refuse and followed the talkative brown-haired girl back to the camp.
Mr. Granger had already set up the tent, and Mrs. Granger was boiling water over the fire—they had brought charcoal and solid alcohol blocks, so there was no need to gather firewood to start a fire.
"You're back? How come you're back so soon—" Mrs. Granger hadn't finished speaking when she saw Rice following behind Hermione. Without her daughter needing to explain, she roughly guessed what had happened.
She walked up to Rice, bent down, and gave him a kind smile. Confident she had gained the little boy's trust, she began to ask him questions.
Where is your mother?
"He's dead."
Rice was telling the truth.
Mrs. Granger: ...
Hermione: ?
"Then, what about your father?" In her panic, Mrs. Granger realized she had said the wrong thing and quickly changed the subject.
"He's dead too."
Mrs. Granger, Mr. Granger, Hermione: ?!
Mrs. Granger, having been repeatedly rebuffed, was at a loss for words; her smile froze on her face. Finally, she managed to stammer, "Let's have some tea first."
