The Spell to Restore Human Form
Chapter 3 The Spell to Restore Human Form
"I remember there's a spell that can force a werewolf to turn back into human form..." Rice pressed his finger to his forehead, frowning as he pondered.
"Right, it's the Restore to Human Form Charm!"
Finally, in a corner of her memory, Rice recalled the spell.
This is a spell developed by his old friends Helga Hufflepuff and Rowena Ravenclaw to target werewolves and force them to revert to human form.
However, he was not very proficient in this spell. In his opinion, it was enough to kill the werewolves. Why was there any need to turn back into human form?
He carefully recalled the details of the Restoration Charm, and then cast it several times on the werewolf who was stuck in the mud.
Because he didn't have much magic at his disposal, and he didn't have a wand and wasn't particularly familiar with the spell, Rice failed seven or eight times before finally managing to cast the Restoration Charm and turn the werewolf he had been controlling back into human form.
The thick fur gradually faded, the limbs grew longer, and the body shortened little by little. After about a minute, the wolf on the ground turned into a pale-faced brown-haired woman.
The madness in her green eyes was gradually replaced by reason, and the murderous intent slowly turned into astonishment. She raised her head blankly, and when the bright moon came into view, she suddenly lowered her head, as if it were not the moon, but a red-hot iron.
Then she heard a boy's voice.
"You're lucky. You're still of some use to me, so I'm willing to give you a chance to work for me."
She looked toward the source of the sound and saw a dark-haired boy looking down at her. The boy had a pair of dark eyes, as deep and cold as a lake. For a moment, she had the illusion that she was naked, and her intuition told her that in this boy's eyes, all her secrets had nowhere to be hidden.
"You... are you?" she spoke, her voice extremely hoarse, as if she had just been singing at the top of her lungs for hours.
"Rice".
"My name is Lupert." After giving her name, Lupert paused for a moment, and after understanding her situation, she sincerely said thank you.
This thank you is absolutely heartfelt.
Although she didn't understand how Rice had done it, she knew that the great magician before her had forcibly interrupted her werewolf transformation—it was practically a miracle, a blessing for werewolves! Aside from a very few madmen, who would willingly transform into a mindless, bloodthirsty beast every month? On the mornings after the full moon, her mouth was always filled with the nauseating taste of blood; she dared not even think about what had happened the night before. Rice's spell had planted a sapling of hope in her long-withered heart…
"No need to thank me." Rice shook his head. The Humanoid Restoration Charm was not his invention, and his motives for saving the werewolf in front of him were not pure either. The two were simply using each other.
After some effort, Rice dug Lupert out of the ground.
"Wand." Rice held out his hand to Lupert, who was dusting off his robes. Lupert hesitated for a moment, then obediently took out his wand from his pocket and respectfully handed it to Rice with both hands.
At that moment, Lupert made up his mind to follow Rice and acknowledge him as his master. For no other reason than that Rice could suppress his werewolf transformation.
Rice nodded in satisfaction: she was lucky; the werewolf in front of her had a wand, which meant she had been a wizard, and she would definitely be able to take her back to the wizarding world.
Thinking of this, he looked down at the wand that Rupert had given him: it was a very old wand, with some parts peeling off, and one end still shining with a white light.
Rice: ...
He used to disdain even using this thing to start a fire.
A blush crept across Lupert's face.
"It's hard for werewolves to find stable jobs. I've been wandering for the past few years and don't have much money..."
"Something is better than nothing," Rice interrupted her argument. Although he could cast most spells barehanded, having a wand would save him some trouble. If he had had a wand when casting the Restoration Charm, he wouldn't have failed so many times.
As for whether using a wand to cast spells would lower his prestige, he wouldn't consider that. He no longer needed to show off his magical skills by casting spells without a wand. Only half-baked wizards would be smug about being able to cast spells without a wand.
"Take me to the wizarding community." After leading Lupert away from the campsite to a secluded clearing, Rice gave his order. He wanted to understand the current state of affairs before receiving his Hogwarts acceptance letter.
Lupert blinked, finding it difficult to answer the question for a moment. Not because the question was too tricky, but because there were simply too many places in Britain that could be called wizarding communities.
She tentatively mentioned the name Diagon Alley, and to her surprise, Rice immediately nodded in agreement.
Lupert was stunned; she truly hadn't expected that a wizard wouldn't know where Diagon Alley was.
After deciding on their destination, Lupert and Rice stood there, staring at each other.
Rice: ?
Lupert: ? ? ?
"Please raise your wand high above your head." Realizing that her "master" seemed to lack common sense, Lupert quickly told him how to summon the Knight Bus.
What's the use of this? Rice frowned. He couldn't recall any teleportation spells that could be cast simply by raising a wand—if there were, it would only mean that the level of magic among wizards had undergone a qualitative change in the last thousand years.
However, he didn't think Lupert would pull any tricks, so he raised his wand high above his head as she instructed. The next second, a dazzling light suddenly shone in the dark camp, followed by a deafening "bang," and then a huge, terrifying beast with a pair of eyes as bright as the sun rushed into Rice's field of vision.
Rice: ?!
What kind of monster is this?
He was truly shocked by this suddenly appearing "giant monster." Its enormous size and terrifying power were comparable to a fire dragon.
Rice subconsciously mobilized the magic power within his body, using all the strength he could muster to unleash a wind blade at that thing.
"Stop!" The moment the Knight Bus appeared, Lupert realized her mistake. She used all her strength to lunge at Rice, causing his wind blades to miss their mark.
The wind blades summoned by Rice grazed the body of the Knight Bus, leaving a ditch half a meter deep and more than ten meters long in the ground.
"Lupert!" Rice turned his head sharply and stared at Lupert, who dared to get in his way.
"It's not an enemy, it's the vehicle that takes us to Diagon Alley!" Rupert explained to him in the simplest terms what the Knight Bus was.
Although he didn't know what a car was, Rice understood what Lupert meant. The big guy in front of him wasn't a monster, but a kind of transportation similar to a horse-drawn carriage.
"Merlin..." A hoarse voice interrupted their conversation with a trembling tone.
Rice looked over and saw a pale-faced young man slumped on the steps extending from the car door.
"You scared the ticket seller," Lupert said, shrugging helplessly.
Seedlings need care!!!
