Chapter 89
Hwang Yee-ji's SBS Experience
Chapter 89 Hwang Yee-ji's SBS Experience
Mokdong is located in Yangcheon-gu, Seoul, near Gangseo-gu. As the name suggests, it is in the westernmost part of Seoul, so getting there from the JYP dormitory in Gangdong-gu requires crossing almost the entire city of Seoul.
The nanny van set off at around 7 a.m. and finally arrived at around 9 a.m.
Fortunately, Hwang Yee-ji is not prone to motion sickness.
As Huang Lizhi got out of the car in the parking lot, he looked up at the tall 23-story building in front of him.
There was no sun today, so the building's glass facade wasn't glaring; it had a soft, luminous sheen.
Hwang Ye-ji's only impression of the SBS Mokdong Building comes from variety shows, the most classic being "Running Man".
The members of "Man" stage a chase scene inside the building.
She felt as if she were reliving the feeling of watching a chase scene on TV; her heart was pounding as if it were about to jump out of her chest.
She knew it was because of her uncontrollable nervousness.
The fire is really about to reach our eyebrows.
"Yeji, this way." Lee Junho got out of the car from the other side, waved to her, and then led the way with his manager. As an artist who debuted in 08, he had been to this place countless times.
"Yes, Junho sunbaenim." Hwang Yeji tightened his grip on his backpack and followed obediently behind.
The first floor of the building is a very spacious lobby, with many people walking around. Apart from the employees wearing badges around their necks, Huang Lizhi also saw some celebrities, some famous and some whose names he couldn't recall.
Without prior arrangement, all the celebrities would come up to greet Lee Junho, because he was a senior who debuted in 08. In the Korean Peninsula, where the seniority system is strict, seniority is sometimes more important than the law.
They took the elevator to the floor where the "The Fan" program was located. On the way backstage, noticing her nervousness, Lee Junho deliberately slowed his pace and turned to begin the same detailed instructions he had given her in the car, "Don't be nervous. Just listen to the staff backstage. They'll tell you the rehearsal time and related precautions and arrangements..."
""
"I know, Junho sunbaenim." Hwang Yeji nodded in response.
"And..." Lee Junho wanted to say something more, but suddenly stopped. Then Hwang Yeji saw a big smile on his face.
It wasn't directed at her.
Huang Lizhi felt that it should be directed at the man walking towards them.
The man was wearing a suit and was very tall, looking even taller than Pei Xiyan, probably around 1.9 meters. His hair was neatly combed back. If it weren't for the work badge around his neck, Huang Lizhi wouldn't have thought he was a staff member. Instead, he looked like a villainous playboy who often appears in TV dramas.
"Section Chief." Lee Jun-ho greeted him.
"This must be the young woman your company sent to participate in the show," he asked.
"Hey." Lee Junho turned to the side and began to introduce, "Section Chief, this is Hwang Yeji, a trainee recommended by our company to participate in this program."
"Yeji, this is Section Chief Kim, who is in charge of the program."
"Chief Kim." Hwang Ye-ji nervously pursed his lips and bowed in greeting.
"Hello, Reiji." The man replied with a smile.
For some reason, Huang Lizhi could see a hint of kindness in the man's smile.
He led her backstage, but then left because he had to visit a senior colleague who was also participating in the show.
She was taken over by a female staff member.
Huang Lizhi followed her to a waiting room. Although the waiting room was not big, it had all the necessary facilities, such as a dressing table, sofa, water dispenser, etc. Moreover, there was no one inside, so it looked like her private waiting room.
But how could a trainee like me possibly have a private practice room? Hwang Ye-ji thought to himself as he looked around.
There should be other people coming later.
"Yezhi, please get ready here first. I will take you to the rehearsal later. Our show's official recording time is 4 pm. Someone will bring you lunch at noon. Before the official recording in the afternoon, a makeup artist will come to do your makeup..." Just like Lee Junho said, the staff gave her some instructions, and their attitude was very kind.
After giving instructions, the staff member left with the audio disc given to him by Huang Lizhi. As soon as the door closed, Huang Lizhi was left alone in the waiting room.
Sitting on the sofa in the waiting room, Huang Lizhi took off her backpack, placed it on her lap, and unzipped it. The bag was full of things, but she didn't hesitate about which to take out first; instead, she went straight for her target—the bag of watermelon-flavored candies she had brought specially.
As the familiar sweetness of watermelon spread in her mouth, the sweetness gradually eased her tension.
The saying that eating can relieve tension is indeed true. Huang Lizhi's lips curled up slightly.
After preparing in the waiting room and the candy in my mouth melting, the staff arrived shortly afterward.
Upon arriving at the venue, Huang Lizhi swallowed hard as he looked at the spacious and dazzling studio in front of him. His heart, which had finally calmed down, began to pound again.
Is this the stage where she will be performing?
That's really big...
Taking the microphone from the staff, Huang Lizhi went to the center of the stage and stood still. She took a deep breath, lowered her eyes slightly, looked at the audience below, and imagined how full they would be by the afternoon. The tension gradually turned into excitement.
A surge of excitement, a desire to conquer them with a performance.
Just like Pei Xiyan said, she wanted to use the stage to ignite them!
"Is Lizhi ready?" a staff member asked loudly from below the stage.
"Yes, thank you for your help." Huang Lizhi nodded to her.
The staff member made an "OK" sign, and then the melody she had practiced almost a hundred times in the past few days came from the sound system.
She raised the microphone, lifted her eyes, and her usually harmless eyes suddenly became sharp, as if they were filled with ambition.
"Oh my, oh my, oh my...
"The rehearsals are going very well, at least that's what Hwang Li-ji thinks."
At noon, the lunch for the self-organized group was delivered, but no one else came to the waiting room.
Huang Lizhi blinked in confusion, but didn't dwell on it, focusing instead on the lunch in front of him. A rich curry sauce, mixed with potatoes, carrots, and other vegetables, was poured over the rice, with a large, crispy fried pork chop on the side as the finishing touch. Just looking at it made one's mouth water.
After all, apart from vegetarians, no one dislikes eating meat.
After a hearty meal, Huang Lizhi took advantage of a brief break to reply to messages from his sisters on his phone.
They knew she was nervous, and all they sent were words of comfort and encouragement.
At 2 p.m., the makeup artist came in.
Huang Lizhi's originally loose hair was tied back into her familiar high ponytail, her face was lightly made up, and she changed into the clothes she had brought for her performance that afternoon.
A black cropped tank top paired with black casual pants, the pants also featuring a decorative silver chain around the waist.
"It looks beautiful," the makeup artist exclaimed softly.
"Kamsahamida." Huang Lizhi turned his head and grinned at the makeup artist.
At that moment, the door to the waiting room was pushed open. Thinking it was a staff member, Huang Lizhi looked towards the door, only to see an unexpected face.
"The producer?!"
