Chapter 293

The Demon God of Destiny

When Xuanbao uttered the phrase "scapegoat," the Three Pure Ones in the hall were all stunned for a moment.

Tongtian was the first to react, raising an eyebrow: "You mean—we should make Luo Hou take the blame for this?"

"Otherwise what?" Xuanbao shrugged, smiling innocently. "Luo Hou has come to us seeking cooperation, so we can't let his kindness go to waste, can we? He's causing trouble in the Chaos using demonic laws, and his aura is so unique that it's impossible to hide. Once those Chaos giants realize that someone is sowing discord behind the scenes, the clues they find will naturally point to Luo Hou."

"And us—" Xuanbao paused, stretched, "we'll just stay quietly behind the scenes, develop ourselves, and advance our ranks. By the time they drag Luo Hou out and fight him to the death, we'll have already pushed the prehistoric world to a higher level."

Laozi pondered for a moment, then slowly nodded: "This plan is feasible. Rahu was originally a Chaos Demon God, and he also caused a massacre in the prehistoric world. He has no connection with those forces in the Chaos. It is reasonable to let him take the blame."

Yuanshi agreed: "However, we still need to be wary of him. Rahu is a man of deep cunning and will never willingly be used as a pawn. Since he took the initiative to incite the rebellion, he must have his own plans."

……

Meanwhile, still causing trouble in the chaos, Luo Hou was completely unaware that he had been made a scapegoat by Xuan Bao, and was currently immersed in the chess game he had carefully woven.

He was like a venomous snake lurking in the shadows, wandering through the chaos, using his silver tongue to provoke the scattered, chaotic demons into a raging inferno. He spoke to people in a human language and to ghosts in a ghost language—promising benefits to the greedy, igniting revenge in the angry, depicting crises to the fearful, and pointing out "direction" to the lost.

In just a few decades, he stirred up the already chaotic situation to make it even more chaotic.

The war between the War God and the Space God escalated from a localized conflict into a full-scale war sweeping across the heart of chaos. More than a hundred gods were deployed on both sides, destroying thousands of worlds. The impact was so vast that even the very edge of chaos could feel the intense energy fluctuations.

The former forces of the Destruction Demon God, secretly instigated by Rahu, began to exert pressure on the borders of the Devouring Demon God. Beset on two fronts, the Devouring Demon God had to divert its forces to deal with these threats, causing it to gradually lose ground in its war against the Void Demon God.

Even the Chaos Gods who had initially remained neutral, incited by Rahu, chose sides and joined the chaotic battle. The entire Chaos was like a pot of boiling porridge, in utter chaos.

Luo Hou stood in the chaotic void, gazing at the distant battlefield shrouded in smoke, a satisfied smile playing on his lips.

"Fight, fight... the harder the better," he muttered to himself. "When you are both severely injured, that will be the day I, Luo Hou, return to my peak."

However, he was unaware that a pair of eyes were coldly watching him from the deepest depths of chaos.

Deep within the chaos lies a forbidden zone that even the Chaos Gods dare not easily venture into.

Here there is no light, no darkness, only an eternal, suffocating nothingness. Chaotic currents stand still, laws fail, and even time seems to lose its meaning. Any living being that steps into this area will be instantly stripped of all senses and lost in the endless void.

But at the heart of this forbidden zone lies a palace.

The palace was entirely gray, devoid of ornate decorations or dazzling light, possessing only an extreme simplicity. It floated silently in the void, seemingly integrated with this forbidden zone, indistinguishable from it.

Inside the palace, a figure sat cross-legged.

The figure was not tall, even somewhat thin. He wore a simple gray robe, and his face was as ordinary as any other person in the crowd, without any striking features. But upon closer inspection, one would find that his eyes seemed to contain a ceaseless river of destiny—countless lines of fate intertwined, entangled, forked, and converged within them, extending into the endless future.

He is the god of fate.

A top-ranking being among the Chaos Demons, an unparalleled powerhouse at the ninth level of the Saint Realm.

The God of Fate has been in seclusion here for countless eons. He is indifferent to worldly affairs and disputes, simply watching the flow of fate lines in the chaos. Occasionally, he will extend his finger and gently pluck a few lines, which will stir up towering waves in the chaos.

But today, he opened his eyes.

There was no anger, no surprise in those eyes, only a bottomless calm.

"Interesting." The Deity of Fate murmured to himself, his voice echoing with an ancient and melancholic resonance, as if it came from the distant past. "A being who should have perished is now stirring up trouble in the chaos. And behind him, there's another hand pulling the strings..."

He stretched out his finger and gently drew a line in the air. A phantom of a river of fate unfolded before him, with countless lines of destiny flowing within it. His gaze followed several of these lines, tracing back to the figures of the rioting demons, the plundering demons, and the chaotic demons who had been absorbed into his ranks.

Then, he saw Rahu.

The Deity of Fate lingered on Luo Hou's fate line for a moment, raising an eyebrow slightly: "The laws of the demonic path... so it's that little fellow who was defeated by Hongjun back then. However, he has someone behind him."

His fingers continued to trace the line of fate upwards, through layers of mist, finally settling on a blue figure.

"Hmm?" The Fate Demon frowned. "This acquired being... can actually shield itself from the prying eyes of the Fate Line?"

He tried to make out more details of the blue figure, but the line of fate seemed to be blocked by an invisible barrier, unable to advance any further. All he could see was a blurry blue light and shadow, and an unsettling aura emanating from it.

"Interesting." The God of Fate lowered his finger, a thoughtful glint in his eyes. "A being born after birth can actually shield itself from the prying eyes of the Fate Line. It seems the waters of the primordial world are much deeper than I imagined."

He was silent for a moment, then slowly stood up.

"Well, it's not bad to go and take a look. The power of destiny is so strong."

In the midst of chaos, Rahu was in his temporary stronghold, discussing the next steps with the rioters.

"The War God and the Space God are almost finished fighting," Luo Hou said, pointing to several points of light on the Chaos Star Chart. "Next, we need to steer the war towards the former forces of the Destruction God. Once they get involved in the melee, Chaos will be in complete chaos."

Riot nodded: "No problem. I'll send people to spread rumors that the old forces of the Destruction Demon God are planning to take advantage of the fact that the War Demon God and the Space Demon God are both exhausted to launch a surprise attack on their lair."

"Hmm." Luo Hou nodded in satisfaction. "Make sure it's done cleanly, don't leave any traces."

"Don't worry, I'll handle things." Riot grinned and turned to leave.

However, at this very moment—

A gray light appeared silently in the center of the stronghold.

The light wasn't dazzling; it was even somewhat dim. But the moment it appeared, time seemed to freeze throughout the entire stronghold. Riot's steps froze in mid-air, the Plundering Demon God's mouth gaped open, and the movements of the other Chaos Demon Gods were all frozen, like insects encased in amber.

Rahu's pupils suddenly contracted!

He could sense an extremely terrifying aura slowly emanating from the gray light. The power of that aura was so great that even he, the Demon Ancestor who had once dominated the chaos, felt a tremor run through his very soul!

The gray light slowly condensed, transforming into a figure.

The figure wore a simple gray robe and had an ordinary face, but his eyes seemed to contain a ceaseless river of destiny. He stood quietly in the center of the stronghold, his gaze sweeping over everyone present before finally settling on Luo Hou.

"Fellow Daoist Rahu, how have you been?"

The voice of the Deity of Fate was calm and even, yet it made Rahu's heart skip a beat.

"The Demon God of Fate?!" Rahu's voice trembled with disbelief. "How could you...?"

"Why am I here?" The Deity of Fate smiled slightly, a hint of amusement in his smile. "Because you've made reckless moves on my chessboard, so I came to see for myself which foolish hand dared to touch my pieces."

Luo Hou's face instantly turned extremely ugly.

He certainly knew about the God of Fate. A high-ranking being among the Chaos Gods, possessing the laws of fate and able to perceive and manipulate the threads of destiny. In the chaos, no one could escape the eyes of the God of Fate.

"Fate, I think there might be a misunderstanding..." Rahu tried to remain calm and explain.

"A misunderstanding?" The God of Fate chuckled, raising his hand to unfurl a phantom of the River of Fate within the stronghold. Within the phantom, Rahu's actions in the Chaos over the years were clearly displayed—how he sowed discord between the God of War and the God of Space, how he spread rumors to frame the former subordinates of the God of Destruction, how he incited the neutral faction to choose sides…

Scene after scene unfolded clearly before everyone, like a movie playing.

Luo Hou's face darkened completely. He knew very well that this matter was unlikely to end well.

"You think your little tricks can escape my notice?" The God of Fate withdrew the River of Fate, his gaze calmly fixed on Rahu. "You think you can manipulate everything from the shadows without anyone noticing?"

"I'm telling you—in chaos, nothing can escape the pursuit of fate."

Luo Hou gritted his teeth, remained silent for a moment, and then slowly asked, "So what do you want?"

"What do I want?" The Deity of Fate tilted his head, as if pondering the question. "Logically speaking, since you've made random moves on my chessboard, I should eliminate you. However—"

He changed the subject, a hint of interest flashing in his eyes: "The person behind you is quite intriguing to me."

Luo Hou's heart skipped a beat: "Who's behind me...?"

"Still playing dumb?" The Demon God of Fate chuckled. "Do you think I don't know that you've been stirring up trouble in the chaos all these years, with someone else directing you behind the scenes? Do you think I don't know that the acquired being named Xuanbao is the real mastermind behind all of this?"

Luo Hou's expression changed completely.

He never expected that the God of Destiny would even know about Xuanbao!

"You don't need to be nervous." The Deity of Fate waved his hand, his tone becoming more relaxed. "I'm not interested in your little tricks. I'm only interested in one thing—"

He paused, his gaze deepening: "What is the origin of that acquired being named Xuanbao? Why is he able to block my line of destiny from prying into his mind?"

Luo Hou was silent for a moment, then slowly said, "I... don't know."

"Don't know?" The God of Fate raised an eyebrow.

"I really don't know." Luo Hou gave a wry smile. "That kid is really strange. I've dealt with him before, but I've never been able to see through him. He's like a fog; you think you've figured him out, but when you get closer, you realize it's just the tip of the iceberg."

The God of Fate stared at Rahu for a long time, then slowly nodded: "Interesting. A being born after birth can actually be seen through even by the former Demon Ancestor. It seems I really need to make a trip to the Primordial World myself."

Luo Hou was startled: "You're going to the Primordial World?"

"What? Is that not allowed?" The God of Fate smiled slightly. "Don't worry, I'm not here to cause trouble. I just want to see for myself what's so special about that acquired being who can shield itself from the prying eyes of the Fate Line."

After he finished speaking, his figure began to become transparent, as if he were about to merge into the void.

Before leaving, he turned back to look at Rahu and left with a single sentence:

"Oh, right, I forgot to tell you—the little tricks you've been up to in the Chaos all these years have already attracted the attention of several other demon gods. You'd better watch yourself."

Before the words were even finished, the figure of the Fate Demon God vanished completely, as if he had never existed.

Time in the outpost resumed its flow.

The riotous footsteps landed on the ground, the plundering demon god's mouth finally closed, and the other chaos demon gods also regained their mobility. But the expressions on their faces all carried a kind of fear of surviving a catastrophe.

Luo Hou stood there, his face so gloomy it could drip water.

"Destiny God..." he gritted his teeth, saying each word clearly, "Strength, I need to recover my strength quickly. Damn it! Was it some bastard who took my World-Destroying Millstone? Otherwise, I would have recovered my strength long ago."

But he knew this was not the time to act rashly. The Demon God of Fate had already set his sights on him, and the other top twenty demon gods might also have noticed his presence. He had to be even more careful and cautious, or else, utter destruction awaited him.

"It seems I need to speed things up," Luo Hou muttered to himself, a ruthless glint in his eyes. "I must complete my plan before those giants can react."

……

Heaven

Xuanbao was lying on a recliner in the garden, his head resting on Bailu's lap pillow, eating spiritual fruit and singing.

However, at this very moment—

He suddenly felt a strange chill rise up his spine.

The feeling was as if I were being watched by some terrifying being.

Xuanbao sat up abruptly, his eyes scanning his surroundings warily. But everything seemed normal, with nothing out of the ordinary.

"What's wrong?" Bai Lu noticed his unusual behavior and asked with concern.

Xuanbao shook his head, his brows furrowed: "It's nothing... I just suddenly have a bad feeling."

He remained silent for a moment, then stood up, looked towards the direction of chaos, and a trace of solemnity flashed in his eyes:

"Looks like we're in big trouble."
