Chapter 91
Fuxi's Ambition, Bloodshed Begins
Fuxi's arrival broke the brief tranquility of the people on Buzhou Mountain. He paid his respects to the Three Pure Ones and Xuanbao. When his gaze swept over the 129,600 newly born and bewildered humans who had already huddled together, there was indeed shock and admiration in the depths of his eyes, but more than that, there was a kind of enlightenment and decisiveness as if he had seen through the fog.
"Brother, why have you come at this time?" Nuwa withdrew her divine radiance, her face showing the joy of reunion, but also a hint of barely perceptible worry. Having achieved the Saintly position of the Human Path, her perception had become increasingly profound, and she had vaguely sensed the vast causal entanglements surrounding Fuxi, even witnessing Fuxi's death as a result...
Fuxi smiled as he played the zither, its clear and melodious sound seemingly capable of cleansing away the dust: "The workings of Heaven flow, and the ways of humanity are revealed. My sister, you have proven your Dao through creation, pioneering the way of humanity. If I were not present for such a momentous event, would it not be a pity?" He paused, looking at the human race, which was beginning to take shape and whose fortune was rising, and his tone became distant, "Moreover, what I have learned and what I have realized seems to have an inextricable connection with this race."
Upon hearing this, the Three Pure Ones' expressions subtly shifted. Laozi's gaze deepened, as if he were deducing something; Yuanshi Tianzun raised an eyebrow, seemingly lost in thought; while Tongtian Jiaozhu spoke directly: "Fellow Daoist Fuxi, do you perhaps already have a plan in mind?"
Fuxi did not answer directly, but looked at Xuanbao: "What you said earlier, young friend, I had already sensed on the way. Humanity was newly established, and its foundation lies in the human race. However, the human race is weak, its wisdom is not yet developed, and its civilization is not yet formed. It certainly needs guidance. This guide does not necessarily have to be a sage, but must truly conform to the original meaning of humanity, 'self-improvement and virtue,' understand the timing of heaven, the advantages of the land, and the harmony of people, and be able to pass on the methods of survival, the virtues of conduct, and the foundation of civilization."
He turned to Nuwa, his tone gentle yet firm: "Sister, I have come here for two reasons, firstly to offer my congratulations, and secondly... to bid farewell. I wish to relinquish the position of the Demon Emperor Xihuang, bearing the consequences myself. From now on, I will live alone, dedicating myself to the human race by interpreting hexagrams and establishing rules and etiquette, passing on the torch of knowledge and tradition."
"Brother!" Nuwa cried out, her eyes filled with complex emotions. Having achieved sainthood, she understood the weight of cause and effect even more. As the emperor of the demon race, Fuxi was deeply intertwined with the fate of the demon race and had experienced the bloody war between the witches and demons. How could he possibly extricate himself now? The backlash and the price would be no small matter.
Fuxi waved his hand, his expression calm yet detached, as if he had seen through the ways of the world: "I am weary of the struggle among the myriad races. Dijun and Taiyi are no longer the Dijun and Taiyi I once knew."
My path, however, is evolving, developing order, and giving rise to civilization. Now that humanity has manifested in the world, that is where my path truly rests. As for the karma of the demon race, I will find a way to settle it myself, and will never implicate you, my sister, or the human race.”
Fuxi looked once more at the bewildered yet vibrant human race, his gaze gentle: "This race, blessed by Pangu, fortunate to have received my sister's good fortune, and further supported by three fellow Daoists connected to young Xuanbao, possesses boundless potential. To protect them through their initial and most difficult journey is my wish, and also the end of my path."
Upon hearing this, the Three Pure Ones were filled with awe. Laozi sighed, "Fellow Daoist, you possess great wisdom and decisiveness. In the act of giving and receiving, you have already revealed your sage heart."
Yuanshi Tianzun nodded: "Although the karma of the demon race is heavy, if you are single-minded in pursuing the Dao, the fortune of the human realm may help you resolve some of it. However, there are many dangers involved, so you must be extremely cautious, fellow Daoist."
The Tongtian Sect Leader, being the most straightforward, laughed and said, "Haha, very good! Fellow Daoist Fuxi, since you have such aspirations, the gates of my Human Sect are always open for you! The education of humanity needs a talent like yours!"
Xuanbao was filled with mixed emotions. Fuxi's creation of the Eight Trigrams, establishing human relationships and inspiring wisdom, marked the beginning of human civilization in mythology. Now, he had actively chosen this path, seemingly relinquishing a high position within the demon race and the potential path to becoming a quasi-saint through the severing of corpses. In reality, however, he had truly aligned himself with his own Great Dao and would inevitably be closely connected to the destiny of humanity. If nothing unexpected happened, the future sainthood of humanity would likely reside here.
Nuwa remained silent for a moment, then slowly nodded, a glint of light flickering in her holy eyes: "Brother's mind is made up, and I will say no more. But..." A wisp of spiritual light flew from her fingertip and merged into Fuxi's body, "This is a trace of my original human origin mark. In critical moments, it may be able to protect you, brother, conceal the secrets of heaven, and slow down the karmic backlash."
Fuxi accepted it calmly and thanked him with a smile.
Just then, Nuwa's heart stirred slightly, her delicate brows furrowed, and she looked up at a certain point in the void. Now, as a saint of humanity, although she had just assumed power, she already had a vague sense of the drastic changes related to humanity on the primordial land, especially those involving fundamental concepts such as "creation" and "race".
"The direction of the Blood Sea... such intense malevolence and a sense of distortion in creation." Nuwa murmured, "It seems there are living beings trying to imitate the creation of humans and forcibly seize the fortune and merit of humanity."
"The Blood Sea? The River Styx?" A glint of sword light flashed in the eyes of the Tongtian Sect Leader. "This old demon, he's still got his wicked intentions! Back then, he was beaten half to death by that brat Xuanbao in the Blood Sea, and now he actually wants to take advantage of loopholes in the human path?"
Laozi made a slight calculation and said slowly, "Fellow Daoist Styx is also a persistent person. He was born in the sea of blood, attained enlightenment through slaughter, and created a race to prove his Dao, which can be considered to be in line with his fundamental nature. However, the sea of blood is filthy and full of malevolent energy. Creating living beings based on this is probably not what humanity likes, and it is more likely to breed karmic calamities."
The Primordial Celestial Venerable sneered: "Those heretics and unorthodox sects dare to covet the holy throne? Though humanity is newly established, it has its own laws, which cannot be desecrated!"
Xuanbao's heart stirred, recalling the creation of the Asura race by the Styx Ancestor. In the original timeline, the Styx Ancestor, seeing Nuwa create humans and become a saint, imitated her by creating the Asura race. Although he gained merit from the Heavenly Dao, he failed to become a saint because the Asura race was inherently fierce and vile, offending the harmony of Heaven and Earth, and thus displeasing them. Now that humanity has awakened, the Styx Ancestor's actions will likely directly violate the laws of humanity, and the outcome is unpredictable.
"Sister, if the Styx River truly created things from the remnants of blood and the malevolent energy of the Blood Sea, they are likely not benevolent beings and may harm the pure and righteous fortune of humanity," Xuanbao warned.
Nuwa nodded, her holy voice clear and melodious: "As a sage of humanity, it is my duty to protect the foundation of humanity. The Styx's actions have crossed the boundaries of humanity. I must warn him."
After speaking, she lightly raised her hand, and a magnificent Daoist voice containing the will of humanity, ignoring spatial barriers, was transmitted towards the sea of blood, carrying with it the majesty of a sage and the warning of rules.
Almost simultaneously, deep within the Northern Sea, the Kunpeng Ancestor also sensed something. His gaze turned sinister as he looked towards the Blood Sea, then towards Mount Buzhou, finally uttering a cold snort: "That fool Styx, he acted too hastily. Humanity is newly born, its rules yet to be revealed. To force creation is nothing short of inviting disaster. To seize the throne should be to follow the natural order, to find an opening..."
At this moment, deep within the sea of blood, the Styx Ancestor, facing the billions of remnant souls flopping and wailing in the sea of blood, and the few twisted "creations" before him that were barely formed but full of violence and instability, felt the humanistic holy voice of Nuwa that contained warning and rejection. His face immediately turned extremely ugly, and blood waves surged around him.
"Nuwa! How dare you obstruct my path?!" Styx roared, his eyes flashing with a frenzied bloodlust. "Humanity? Hmph! I, Styx, will test you! What can your newly born humanity do to me?!"
Styx suddenly spat out a mouthful of primordial blood essence, merging it into the twisted creations, while frantically activating the Blood Sea Array to seize more remnant souls and malevolent energy...
