Chapter 26: The Child Comes to Give Us a Lesson?
The technician had just picked up his chopsticks to eat when he looked up and suddenly saw Wu Zu sitting alone across from him.
Lin Hui explained with a smile, "This is the child of a family member from the arsenal. I accidentally bumped into him on the way here, so I brought him along for dinner."
Upon hearing this, the technician couldn't help but tease Wu Zu.
"Little friend, do you know who this is?"
Wu Zu shook his head; he wasn't interested in that. His mind was entirely on the braised pork on his plate.
Thinking to himself, the food at this arsenal must be really good. Luckily, I didn't travel back to the 60s, otherwise, let alone braised pork, it would be difficult to even get a full meal.
Seeing Wu Zu shake his head, the young technician couldn't help but boast, "This is my teacher, Professor Lin Hui! The most outstanding radar expert in China! I'm here today specifically to learn the most advanced technology from a genius!"
Wu Zu didn't even look up, continuing to shovel his food into his mouth: "Oh."
Seeing that Wu Zu was only focused on eating, Lin Hui couldn't help but smile and took out a business card to hand over.
"Little friend, if you want to apply to Southwest University in the future, you can come and find me. I'll be a visiting professor there."
Wu Zu took the business card and casually stuffed it into his pocket.
"Thanks."
Seeing Wu Zu's nonchalant attitude, the young technician wanted to say something more, but was glared at by Lin Hui.
After eating a few bites, the two took their plates and left.
The technician followed behind, muttering under his breath, "This kid is so ignorant, he doesn't even recognize you—"
Lin Hui was both amused and exasperated: "He's just a child, how could he possibly know me? Do you really think your teacher needs to be known by the whole world?"
As they talked, the two arrived at the small auditorium.
The small auditorium was already packed, with technical experts from all over the country gathered there, eagerly awaiting the appearance of the legendary genius.
Lin Hui was sitting in the front row, talking quietly with his colleague next to him.
"I heard that this expert, at such a young age, has already mastered the core technology of digital fire control systems."
"Yeah, I heard even the US's M1 tanks can't compare to our Type 99A!"
Just as everyone was chatting idly, a young man walked onto the stage, smiling, and said, "Distinguished experts, welcome to Jiangnan Arsenal!"
Immediately, the entire audience erupted in enthusiastic applause.
The young man continued, "Next, please welcome our chief technical advisor—Comrade Wu Zu!"
Applause rang out again, however, the moment Wu Zu stepped onto the stage.
The entire room fell silent instantly, so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Lin Hui's eyes widened, and the notebook in his hand fell to the ground with a thud.
"This—isn't that the kid from the cafeteria?!"
As soon as Wu Zugang stepped onto the podium, the previously noisy auditorium instantly descended into chaos.
The enthusiastic applause abruptly ceased, replaced by a cacophony of whispers among the experts and questions about his identity.
A middle-aged man wearing thick glasses stood up from his seat, pointed at Wu Zu on the stage, and shouted loudly.
"What's going on here? This kid's supposed to be an expert to guide us?"
"That's clearly just a little kid!"
The technician next to him, dressed in blue overalls, chimed in and joined in the commotion.
"We've come all this way, are we just here to listen to a primary school student give a lecture? This is ridiculous!"
'
Lin Hui, sitting in the first row, stared wide-eyed behind his glasses, speechless with shock for a long time.
Is this the technical expert I've traveled so far to see, the one I've been eagerly anticipating?
This is just too outrageous!
His assistant, Xiao Wang, was so excited that he jumped up.
"Teacher, this is absolutely impossible! How did that kid I just ran into in the cafeteria suddenly become an expert?!"
Lin Hui raised his hand to signal Xiao Wang to quiet down, but his own brows furrowed into a deep frown.
He stared intently at the tiny figure on the stage, who wasn't even as tall as the podium, his heart churning with turmoil.
In his mind, the arsenal would never joke like that, given the extremely serious and solemn occasion.
But what I'm seeing now is simply unacceptable—.—
Despite his doubts, Lin Hui decided to suppress his emotions and see what would happen next.
Li, the technician who accompanied Wu Zu, turned ashen with anger upon seeing the chaotic scene.
He slammed his hand on the podium and shouted.
"Everyone! Please mind your manners! If you don't want to hear this, you can leave now!"
"quality?"
A slightly balding expert sneered, "Having an elementary school student teach us, is this what you call quality?"
After saying that, he turned to Wu Zu, his tone full of sarcasm: "Little kid, what grade are you in this year? Do you even know what a digital fire control system is?"
His words immediately drew laughter from the audience.
Wu Zu remained calm and unmoved.
He tiptoed up, picked up a piece of chalk from the podium, and smiled faintly with a slight upturn at the corners of his mouth.
"Gentlemen, since you don't believe my identity, how about this? I'll pose a question, and if anyone here can solve it, I'll leave immediately. How about that?"
Before anyone could respond, he stepped onto a small stool brought by a staff member and wrote down an extremely complex radar signal processing equation on the blackboard.
The crisp, clear "tap-tap" sound of chalk rubbing against the blackboard seemed to strike the hearts of every expert present with each stroke.
"What...what is this...?"
As if struck by an electric current, Lin Hui straightened up abruptly, his glasses clearly reflecting the dense formulas on the blackboard.
His assistant, Xiao Wang, was already dumbfounded, his mouth agape, wide enough to fit an egg.
This question is way too difficult!
He couldn't understand what Wu Zu was writing at all.
Gradually, the entire auditorium quieted down, with only the rustling of papers turning and the beeping of calculator keys being heard.
Ten minutes passed, and not a single person raised their hand.
Twenty minutes passed, and the atmosphere in the venue grew increasingly heavy, as if an invisible boulder was pressing on everyone's hearts.
"Hmph, all pretentious!"
Finally, someone couldn't help but break the silence, "Just because we can't solve it doesn't mean you can! If you can solve it yourself, then we'll believe you!"
"That's right! Solve it yourself and show it to us!"
Others echoed this sentiment, but their tone was no longer as assertive as it had been at the beginning.
Wu Zu tilted his head, looked at everyone, and suddenly revealed an innocent smile.
"OK."
He turned around to face the blackboard, his small body almost completely engulfed by it.
The moment he began to write, his entire demeanor seemed to instantly transform.
The chalk seemed to come alive in his hands, and neat, precise formulas appeared on the blackboard.
"Wait a minute—this problem-solving approach—"
Lin Hui seemed to have discovered a new continent, gripping the armrest of the front seat tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force.
The experts around him held their breath in tension, and some even stood up from their seats.
