Chapter 1339

Lorraine 27

Chapter 1339 Lorraine 27
Tartarus argued vehemently, "It's precisely because life is so boring that we need to find some fun."

Tan You was speechless and could only gesture to Louis: "You decide what to do. You are now the head of the Houston family, and you should learn how to deal with other families."

Louis nodded, then deftly pried off the magic crystal embedded in the edge of the bronze mirror. The communication abruptly ended, and this action immediately made Tartarus raise an eyebrow.

He raised his hand and grabbed Louis like a kitten being pulled by the scruff of its neck. Louis remained calm, his hands neatly folded in front of his chest, his slender eyes blinking as he looked at Tartarus.

Tartarus asked curiously, "Why aren't you answering the phone?"

“There’s no need,” Louis said crisply. “My elder sister said that since we’ve already cut ties with the past, there’s no need to get involved anymore. Grudges and disputes have long been left in the past.”

"The reason they are contacting us again now is simply because they are still unwilling to accept defeat."

"But that's their business, it has nothing to do with us."

"We just keep moving forward; all they can see are our backs."

Tartarus smiled, put Louis down, and Louis bowed to him after regaining his balance before going to find Gade.

“You have taught him very well.”

Tan You: "Teaching by example is the most important thing. He is very observant and has a lot of inner beauty."

"I just happened to be stuck with a love-obsessed older sister like Lorraine Houston."

Tartarus: "You don't like Lorraine?"

Tan You pondered for a moment: "I do not like her, but I have already accepted the task of whether I like her or not. To be honest, I am quite curious about her, wondering if she will continue her love affair with Williams after she wakes up."

Tartarus was also curious: "Then let's wait quietly for her to wake up. To be honest, I'm curious too."

-

Fifteen years have passed in the blink of an eye. The once deserted Silent Hill is now like a city. A huge castle stands in the center of the city, and the area around the castle is divided into districts, including commerce, agriculture, animal husbandry, and workshops, each of which is well-planned.

Outside Silent Hill are towering city walls, bustling with people, including members of the Houston family, merchants from the Empire, and adventurers.

Since the Houston family rebuilt their business, Louis has established a trading market outside Silent Hill. This market serves as both a gateway for the Houston family's foreign trade and a paradise for adventurers.

Louis surveyed the bustling commercial district, his eyes brimming with pride. This was the result of his years of hard work and dedication with his trusted advisors. It had been tough, of course, with its share of hardships, but compared to others, he had already stood on the shoulders of giants.

"Elder sister." Louis greeted Tan You respectfully as she approached.

"Hmm," Tan You responded softly, "Why are you here alone? Did Lorraine nag you?"

Louis smiled wryly: "Ever since she woke up, she's been pressuring me to get married every few words. I just can't take it anymore. It's not that I don't want to get married, it's just that I haven't met anyone I like."

“But in her eyes, it seems that if I don’t get married, the Houston family line will not continue.”

"If you ask me, she should have gotten married sooner. She should have found a husband to marry into her family a long time ago. She's 36 this year, but she doesn't care at all."

Louis spoke with great anger, explaining that Lorraine had woken up three months prior. However, she had only been twenty-three years old when she passed away, just two years older than Louis was now.

Lorraine, however, had a barren past. Compared to Louise's decades of experience, she seemed like a naive girl whose true nature could be seen through at a glance. Unable to control Louise in other ways, she could only try this approach, wanting to establish her authority as an older sister in his eyes.

But how is that possible?

For the most important sixteen years of Louis's life, Tan You accompanied and guided him as he grew up. Now that Lorraine has returned, she wants to take advantage of him. Naturally, Louis cannot indulge her.

As the current head of the Houston family, how could Louis possibly allow himself to bow down to anyone other than Tan You?
And so the two of them started arguing.

Having grown up alongside Tan You, he quickly came up with an idea: "I plan to hold a job fair. Now that the family business is expanding, it's time to recruit more people."

"I'll screen out a group of people first, and then let her deal with those men herself."

"You said she's never taken a husband, is she still thinking about Williams?"

Tan You shrugged: "Don't try to guess what's going on in your head."

Louis sighed, "You said she's awake, so why doesn't she try to communicate with the gods? Does she still want to live like an ordinary person? Is she out of her mind?"

Tan You said meaningfully, "If she communicates with the gods, she will lose the favor of the Abyss God. Can she be willing to accept that?"

“Not every god is as magnanimous as Tartarus.”

Tartarus suddenly appeared: "You're the one who speaks the most pleasing words; it's rare to hear you praise me."

Tan You glanced at him: "Haven't I praised you before? I feel like I've provided you with a lot of emotional value."

"Also, your Free Territory has long been a paradise on earth. I thought you were going to stay there and herd sheep forever. I never expected you to come out."

“Herding sheep is the work of the goddess of life,” Tartarus rolled his eyes. “I’ve come to show you something good.”

"What good stuff?" Tan You stared at Tartarus for a couple of seconds, then suddenly frowned slightly. "Why do I sense the aura of the World Tree? Is your Free Realm about to become a world of its own?"

Tartarus reached out, and a small seedling appeared in his palm. The seedling was just like a bean sprout, with only one leaf growing at the top.

Tan You's eyes widened: "It really is the World Tree! It seems that not only has your decline completely stopped, but you will become even stronger in the future."

Tartarus chuckled: "Yes, I never expected that a world that was on the verge of extinction would suddenly be reborn, and the turning point would actually be in my abyss."

“It’s now a free territory,” Tan You corrected. “It’s now a distant place that people want to go to but can’t.”

Seeing that the two had switched to an encrypted channel again, Louis shrugged, not disappointed. He knew there were some things he was better off not knowing; he was just an ordinary person.

As for his elder sister and the deity, they were both extraordinary beings, and he couldn't participate in many of their conversations. In his short few decades, his life's mission was to revitalize the family and bring it to prominence.

Tartarus was overjoyed: "I wasn't sure before either, so I came to you to tell you as soon as I was sure. After all, you've seen it before, but I've never seen it before."

"I suspect it was the plants you brought that had the effect."

Tan You waved her hand, not taking credit: "Those were just the beginning. The more important thing is the people in your territory. It is because they never abandoned or gave up on you that Freedom Territory is what it is today."
