Chapter 3
Goblin Traditional Martial Arts
Geb didn't understand what "the school of energy shaping" meant; he only understood the word "school."
He once stole an apple pie from a human village, took a bite, and then had it stolen by other goblins.
Mmm, apple pie, a sweet treasure. One bite, and the caramel and pastry crumble in your mouth, the piping hot filling mixing with your saliva...
Damn it, now's not the time to be distracted! One wrong move and I'll turn into a goblin pie!
In short, the half-elf probably meant that his fireballs couldn't hurt Geb.
Geb didn't believe it, but did he have a choice?
The bear's voice drew closer and closer; he could hear the terrifying scraping sound of its fur rubbing against the rock face.
The goblin quickly searched for a weapon—a sharpened stick, about two meters long, had been left behind when the crossbow trap was set up, which it used as a support for the mechanism.
After being triggered by the bear, it fell to the ground.
Geb picked up the stick and gripped it tightly in his hand. He took two steps back; the corner of the cave was quite narrow, like a bottleneck, and the bear couldn't squeeze through all at once.
If you want to resist it, the only place is here.
There's no escape. Begging for mercy is useless against a bear; you can only fight.
Even a rabbit will bite if pushed too far. Gebu summoned the courage he once had as a human: he couldn't back down! He'd finally seen a glimmer of hope; he had to become human again!
Gebu felt uneasy as he listened to the giant bear's breathing getting closer and closer, and he could almost smell the burnt oil on the bear's body.
They're here... they're here.
Gebu's hand holding the spear trembled slightly, his palms were sweating, and his legs shook like a leaf.
The half-elf behind me started muttering something. Was this guy casting a spell?
The bear's nose peeked out from around the corner, followed by its long snout, head, and neck...
Gebu's heart pounded, and a surge of excitement rushed through him!
"May Magnubie protect you!"
Gebu used all his strength to hold back the sharpened wooden stick and stabbed it into the bear's eye!
puff!
"Awooo!!!"
The stick pierced straight into the giant bear's eye socket. Something shattered, and the beast let out a trembling roar, instinctively taking a step back before swinging its claws!
With a snap, the head of the stick shattered, and Gebu was thrown backward and fell to the ground.
He looked and saw that the two-meter-long stick had been reduced to one and a half meters, and the pointed end had become a blunt end.
The bear, blind in one eye and driven mad by pain, desperately tried to squeeze in. The corner was originally large enough for it to squeeze through, but the beast was too hasty, its flesh trembling uncontrollably, causing it to get stuck in the rock wall. The two arrows stuck in its back were pushed deeper into its flesh.
The giant bear became even angrier! It tore at the air, its sharp teeth snapping loudly.
As the giant beast slowly squeezed in front of him, Gebu panicked. He quickly got up, poked at the soft spot on the bear's face, and used a stick to push it back.
The bear, annoyed by the stick, started gnawing around randomly. It bit into the stick, and the 1.5-meter stick was reduced to 1.2 meters in a snap.
This was troublesome. Gebu dared not go any further. A distance of 1.2 meters was just a step away from the bear, whose claws and teeth were waving right in front of him.
The goblin stopped in its tracks, but the bear was about to squeeze out; his fat belly stretched long and thin, and his fat was squeezed into a circle between the rock walls.
The half-elf was still muttering to himself. Geb ignored him, grabbed the end of the stick, and poked it into the bear's other eye!
This time, the bear was facing the goblin head-on, wary. With a sudden turn of its head, the stick went astray, piercing the goblin's nostril and wedging it firmly. The bear then grabbed and swung, snapping the stick in two. The goblin sat on the ground, clutching one piece, leaving less than half a meter of the stick in its hand.
What to do? !
That's the only option we can use!
That's it! The goblin's ultimate technique! A traditional martial art passed down from generation to generation!
The one that fell from the sky!
As the goblin panicked, the bear pressed its front paws to the ground, tightened its rear end, exerted all its strength, and lunged forward. The fat that was stuck suddenly squeezed out of the gap, and its entire body burst out!
The foul-smelling mouth was only a few centimeters away from Geb. The goblin closed his eyes, used all his strength to jump up, and raised his stick to chop down on the bear's nose!
"Aaaaaaah!"
Before the stick could even fall, the bear's head lunged forward and rammed into the goblin, which, like a rag doll, felt weightless and was instantly shoved against the ceiling.
Bang! Smack.
The goblin crashed into a rock, then fell to the ground, its body limp and motionless.
-----------------
The half-elf wizard experienced the worst day of his life.
After infiltrating the church for over twenty years, he finally found the legendary artifact—only to be betrayed by a hired thief. Those who take money to do things are indeed untrustworthy.
Having finally shaken off the pursuers and reached the outskirts of the city, they encountered a group of goblins... They had almost exhausted their spell slots, leaving only one third-circle spell and two second-circle spells. The third-circle spell slot, which was originally reserved for communication and transmitting crucial information, was wasted on a bunch of trash.
Those church guys can detect spells above the third ring... A fireball spell with such a big commotion would definitely attract the attention of witch hunters immediately. Given his condition, he can't go far. Besides, he's not familiar with the terrain of this forest.
As a result, they ended up having to rely on a goblin to guide them... These despicable fools are not worth trusting.
The half-elf had no intention of letting the goblin live.
As long as it leads you to a hidden place, you can hide the items, leave a beacon, and retrieve them later.
They ended up encountering a bear, whether it was a goblin's trick or just bad luck, no one knows.
Normally, I could easily deal with such a low-level beast by simply raising my hand.
But in this state... the half-elf clutched his stomach, a sharp pain shooting through his abdomen.
The half-elf wizard felt a sense of irony watching the little goblin in front of him poking the angry giant bear with a broken stick.
The once-renowned Grand Wizard of the Golden Sun Red Earth Empire's Magic Academy, a guest of honor in the mansions of princes and nobles, and on equal footing with the empire's most prestigious families—now finds himself in a stinking cave, living among goblins.
Goblins? They're not even human. It's beneath you to even speak to them.
With a roar, the goblin was blasted into the ceiling and landed motionless on the ground.
"Alright, you held on for a few seconds, now you can die." The half-elf looked at the little guy without any pity.
With the incantation prepared, the wizard stared at the giant bear before him, straining to keep his body upright, a strangely colored flame clenched in his palm.
Hopefully, these last two rings will be enough to burn it to death... Oh my god, don't let me die in a bear's mouth, that would be too shameful.
The bear turned its gaze to the half-elf, snorted, and charged forward!
Not there yet.
Not there yet...
Arrived!
Just as the bear charged to within a few feet of the half-elf, the wizard suddenly stretched out his arm, and an oddly colored flame burst forth from his palm. The solidified etheric energy erupted all at once, burning into a cone shape in front of the wizard's hand.
Driven by instinct, the bear charged forward, only to be met with flames that splattered its face, causing it to howl in agony—the intense fire pierced through the bear's head, melting its fur, skin, and muscles, stripping away flesh to reveal its stark white bones—even the bones were quickly charred!
In less than two seconds, before the giant bear had moved even half a foot forward, its eyeballs and brain were roasted, its limbs lost their strength, and it collapsed to the ground with a thud.
The wizard didn't stop. He wrinkled his nose, revealed a ferocious expression, and shoved the flames into the bear's face until the etheric energy was exhausted.
call……
The cave reeked of burning. The half-elf wrinkled his nose.
The last spell ring slot is used up—use a second-ring spell ring to cast a first-ring spell, Burning Hand.
Enraged, the beast didn't even flinch and was burned to a crisp. A beast is still a beast; it has no brains.
The half-elf, exhausted, leaned against the rock wall to rest. It took him half a minute to catch his breath.
He picked up a broken stick from the side, propped himself up, walked up to the goblin, and poked it. The little guy was limp and didn't react at all.
Hmph, dead. Useless bastard.
The wizard slowly walked to the end of the cave, where he saw a pile of goblin junk—broken weapons, wheels, horseshoes, half a blacksmith's pliers, a dented copper kettle, a bunch of bottles and jars, and a cracked mirror, the extent of which he wondered how they had been brought in.
The half-elf found a secluded corner amidst a pile of junk, dug a hole, and carefully pulled out the hidden book.
The book's golden surface was covered with black characters, appearing and disappearing as if constantly shifting.
He was about to put the book down when his gaze was drawn to the golden cover.
The flowing words reflected in his pupils were like tadpoles swimming in golden water...
"How beautiful, the gate to infinity... It's so beautiful... With this book, I can unlock the secrets of magic... All the truth will be mine."
An infinite book that connects all the secrets of the world, containing all the scrolls, books, magic... everything that humankind has ever recorded. It awaits the reader to unveil it.
All that's needed is meditation. Time, and effort—and the half-elf has plenty of time, enough patience and lifespan to unravel all the mysteries in this book.
The Book of Sand, the deepest secret hidden by the Church of Obak.
Twenty years have passed, and now it's finally in my hands.
The half-elf looked at his decaying body. This husk had finally reached its end... Humans couldn't hold onto this book for long; it was a curse placed by the Church, a vile protective mechanism.
It's okay, my darling, just stay here and wait for me, I'll come back for you...
He knelt on the ground, stroking the books with his fingers, lost in his own world.
I will become the greatest sorcerer in the world...
Suddenly! A piercing pain shot through his lungs! A sharp, icy chill pierced his back!
Ah... Ah! His breath was expelled from his body.
"Die!!!! Die! Die! Die!" The little goblin pounced on the half-elf, straddling his neck, his eyes blazing with mad fire, repeatedly stabbing the wizard's back with the bone dagger in his hand.
Puff, puff, puff.
The wizard was pinned to the ground, and with a single stab, a bloody hole appeared in his back. Air escaped from the wound, blowing out blood bubbles.
"Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!"
At first, he made a couple of groans, but soon he couldn't make a sound at all. In less than half a minute, the half-elf wizard lay motionless in a pool of blood.
Gebu wiped the blood from his face, finally releasing the pent-up anger in his chest. He panted heavily, a ferocious grin with canine teeth showing on his face.
"Gebu won! Gebu is the one who survived to the end!"
Are bears powerful?
Are wizards powerful?
No, Gebu is the most powerful.
This is the traditional martial art of goblins: feigning death and backstabbing.
Geb stood on the half-elf's bloodied corpse, stepping on his head, striking a victorious pose.
Don't underestimate goblins.
The goblin used the unfortunate man's clothes to wipe the "little treasure" clean, then shifted its gaze to the "big treasure" that the wizard had pressed down on him.
"This book is really beautiful."
Geb couldn't help but exclaim in admiration, his eyes involuntarily drawn to the book.
