Chapter 55
Beautiful Imperial Words
"Aaaaaaaahh ...
Geb transformed into a twisted green pellet in mid-air, hurtling toward the crystalline ether—he felt the air dragging his skin like sandpaper, his face almost being ripped off…
That golem was thrown with such accuracy!
That's incredibly accurate!!! It's almost hitting my face!!!
Three...two...
The goblin spread its arms, bracing itself for the attack.
One!
He crashed into the octahedron with a thud, and in an instant, all the air in his lungs was squeezed out.
Gebu was so shocked by the impact that he saw stars and couldn't see anything. He only remembered clutching the thing in front of his chest tightly.
"Well done!!!" came the girl's shrill voice from below.
The octahedron and Geb shook violently in the air. An invisible force field tried to push the octahedron back to its original position, but Geb's kinetic energy was too great, instantly disrupting the balance of the crystal—the octahedron spun and tilted in the air, and then tumbled down with the goblin!
"Ah—ah—ah—ah—"
The goblin's screams rose and fell with the rotation of the crystal, like a broken alarm.
Belle saw Geb spinning and falling before she realized what was happening and quickly ran to the platform, tapping the runes on her phone.
The golem sprinted two steps to where Geb had landed—and raised its hand to catch him.
Wizard's Hand! Wizard's Hand! Wizard's Hand!
Geb kept casting spells to support his buttocks. The 10-kilogram weight limit couldn't stop his fall, but it did offset the acceleration to some extent.
"Ouch!"
The goblin caught the descending goblin with a swift movement. Startled, the goblin opened his eyes to find the goblin's expressionless stone face before him.
Geb smiled.
The golem fell forward.
Gebu cried.
"Hello! Hello! Hello!"
To maximize its height, the top of the spire was built to be extremely narrow.
The golem caught Geb, but lost its footing and fell straight down!
Geb had just regained his footing and began freefalling again.
Belle pounded on the table, sweating profusely—it was no use; the golem was too busy to carry out any new commands.
Golems, goblins, and crystal ethers tumbled toward the edge of the white tower—below lay an abyss!
"Obama, save me!" Geb shouted incoherently.
Just as Gebu was about to fall off the wall, a white shadow suddenly flashed by!
Gebu felt a soft, gentle touch, his vision obscured by the chestnut-colored hair—in that instant, the ends of the hair stirred his cheeks, and a refreshing citrus scent filled Gebu's nostrils.
This smells quite nice...
thump!
Geb and Belle fell into a heap.
The golem and the stone blocks forming the spire fell from the wall, crashing into the white tower wall with a thunderous roar, scattering countless fragments before plunging into the endless sea of clouds.
Still shaken...
The goblin was panting heavily, still clutching the octahedron that was gleaming with an eerie light tightly in its arms.
He looked at the disheveled human girl in front of him, while the girl looked at the trembling goblin.
The two of them looked at the hard-won crystallized ether at the same time.
The girl was happy, and the goblin was happy too.
"Did you win?" the girl asked.
"We won!" Gebu answered decisively!
-----------------
"I never imagined I'd be working with a goblin at the Deep Well heist! Ogmar is my witness!" Belle tidied her hair, beaming. "But from now on, I should call you: Goblin Wizard!"
"Me too... I never imagined there were magic academies in this world. And other wizard apprentices. You're still quite useful, aren't you?" Geb said, "a human witch!"
"The Wizard Geb!"
"Belle the Wizard!"
The two exchanged some strategic compliments. After a handshake and pleasantries, they promised to each other success and become great wizards of their respective kingdoms. But let's leave that aside for now.
Then, Geb placed the ether crystal on the stand in front of the portal, and with a click, the octahedron perfectly embedded itself into the groove on the stand.
hum-
The door frame lit up with a silver border, and the crystalline ether vibrated slightly, resonating with the magical energy within the portal—the portal reflected ever-changing light, and in the blur, the dawn light of the real world appeared and disappeared.
"By the way, does this crystallized ether really have that much energy?" Geb asked casually.
“Of course. Professor Emint said that the more solidified the aether, the rarer and more powerful it is—it is said that if you directly digest this aether, you can quickly accelerate a wizard's breakthrough progress… but that would be a waste.” Belle paused for a moment and said, “There are many ways to break through, herbalism and alchemy can both help—as long as you have enough patience and time. But crystallized aether is extremely rare, and it would be a huge waste to eat it directly to speed things up.”
"That's right, that's certainly true," Geb replied casually. He glanced at the vibrating crystalline ether, then took a step toward the door.
"Hey, Geb." The girl suddenly called out to him.
"Hmm?" Geb turned to look at Belle.
"If you ever come to the Imperial Magic Academy, you can come find me." Belle smiled at him. "I'll recommend you to Professor Imint. Although you're a goblin, you're very talented. I believe the professor won't overlook such a promising talent."
Geb was silent for a moment, then grinned, revealing his canine teeth.
"I'll think about it. Not everyone in this world would choose to trust a goblin like you do. I need to make sure I don't get killed by you humans on the way!"
Having said that, he walked to the portal, took a deep breath, turned and waved to Belle, then stepped into the portal.
Belle watched the goblin's figure disappear into the portal and exclaimed: "The world is full of wonders."
"Even goblins can be good people," she muttered to herself.
Just as she was marveling at this, the girl saw a green hand reach out from inside the door and beckon with its finger.
With a movement of his hand, the octahedron rose from the platform, flew into the goblin's hand, and then disappeared into the portal.
The portal lost its power, shrank instantly, and closed... leaving Belle on this side of the portal.
Hmm.
Eh?
Huh?!?!
-----------------
Geb emerged from the door, and the world before him was no longer shrouded in dreamlike colors—solid and clear, he had returned to the material plane.
Gebu turned to look at the rapidly closing portal—the portal's energy was calculated based on the number of people, and now that it was out of power, the girl definitely wouldn't be able to get through.
Safety.
He looked down at the crystallized ether in his arms, which had consumed half of its energy, and revealed a sly and irritating smile.
Hey, since it can accelerate breakthroughs, why not keep it for yourself?
You have patience and time—I don't! I, a goblin, can't outlive a human; time is money!
Just as he was feeling smug, Gebu suddenly felt a chill on the back of his head. He instinctively looked down and saw a shoe flying out of the collapsing portal.
Following the shoe, at the very moment the door closed, a faint, beautiful Imperial voice drifted from within:
"Gebu! I rnmlg&%@%asgasg#%$%!"
