Chapter 38
As expected, there's only one real idiot in this company.
Interstellar Peace Corporation
Inside an incredibly lavishly decorated office.
A middle-aged man stood in front of a huge floor-to-ceiling window, his eyes calm and deep, making him difficult to read.
A ghostly figure appeared on the sofa behind the man.
If an ordinary person who doesn't know the truth saw it, they would think they had seen a ghost.
But in reality, it was just a projection.
As if sensing his arrival, the middle-aged man slowly turned around, a smile appearing on his face.
"Oh, my old friend, it's so nice to see you."
"Let's skip the formalities, Oswaldo Schneider."
"I don't recall ever having a close relationship with you."
"Speak, what do you want from me?"
The projection's tone was very cold, as if it did not intend to talk to the man in front of it for long.
Oswaldo Schneider wasn't angry; he simply walked slowly to the opposite side of the projector and sat down with his signature polite smile on his face.
"As expected of a diamond manager, still as decisive and efficient as ever."
"The main reason I invited you here this time is about the Masked Fool, Hanabi."
Diamond raised an eyebrow, a meaningful smile appearing on his lips.
"This seems to be an internal matter for your market development department, right?"
"You can't even handle a mere Masked Fool?"
Upon hearing the question about diamonds, Oswaldo Schneider did not answer. Instead, he picked up the remote control on the table and turned on the holographic projector next to him.
Several images appeared on the holographic screen.
"The destruction caused by Fireworks is essentially a trampling on the company's order and a provocation against the survival of the company. She did not destroy my project, but the survival barrier that the company has built in the outer galaxy."
"Several companies have proposed to suspend cooperation negotiations in the past two days."
"Therefore, I believe we should work together to resolve this issue."
"Diamond Manager, what do you think?"
Oswaldo Schneider smiled, put down the remote control, picked up the red wine next to him, and took a small sip.
I think you're a piece of bullshit!
Diamond saw right through Oswaldo Schneider's intentions.
No matter how nicely he put it, he actually just felt that dealing with fireworks would come at a certain cost.
He didn't want to bear the consequences alone, so he deliberately presented the facts and reasoned with others, escalating the nature of the incident and using the righteous cause to drag other departments into it, thus sharing the risks and losses.
"What about the opinions of other departments?"
"Since you've already contacted me, you must have contacted everyone else by now, right?"
Diamond did not immediately answer Oswaldo Schneider's question, but instead chose to learn about the other ministers' answers first.
This is not because he didn't know how to answer.
After all, those who can become department heads in a company are all shrewd old foxes.
How could such a simple plan possibly stump him?
What appeared to be a question and answer was actually an attempt to understand the attitudes of the various department heads toward Oswaldo Schneider.
Upon hearing his question, Oswaldo Schneider paused for a moment before slowly raising the glass he had brought to his lips.
He took a small sip of red wine and spoke with a smile.
"The ministers are all very understanding and have naturally agreed. They have all expressed their strong support for my plan."
"Oh?"
Diamond chuckled softly, thinking to himself, "Just as I thought."
Oswaldo Schneider's answer, which seemed to indicate that all departments supported his plan, actually concealed a hidden reason.
First, they might verbally agree, but whether they'll actually help is another matter.
They can find many reasons afterward if they want to.
Secondly, even if they were to help, they could simply go through the motions without actually putting in any effort, sending a few people over to make a show of it.
It seems that Oswaldo Schneider is indeed not very popular.
If even one person is willing to offer substantial help, he should speak up to increase the persuasiveness of his offer.
Instead of simply saying "I strongly support his plan."
However, this is normal.
If it were something truly critical that threatened the company's survival, even something as trivial as their opinions of Oswald Schneider, all the department heads would do their utmost to help.
But even for such a small matter, this guy is trying to drag others down with him; it's no wonder no one will help him.
Sure enough, there's only one real idiot in this company.
Hahahahahaha!
Diamond was overjoyed to have gotten the answer she wanted.
As for how to answer, it's actually quite simple.
Anyone can say nice things.
Not only can I speak eloquently, but I can also take the opportunity to disgust him.
Thinking of this, Diamond laughed heartily:
"In that case, our strategic investment department naturally has an inescapable responsibility."
"I will send one of the ten Stonehearts to lead an elite force to assist you."
I've sent the man, but whether he's willing to help you or not is not up to me.
Diamond was practically laughing hysterically at the thought of Oswaldo Schneider's angry expression after being disgusted by the gold dust.
Upon hearing his answer, Oswaldo Schneider narrowed his eyes, his smile froze for a moment, and then immediately returned to normal.
"As expected of a Diamond Manager, so magnanimous!"
"On behalf of the Marketing Department, I thank you for your help."
Diamond smiled faintly, refusing his thanks, and instead spoke solemnly:
"All for the Amber King!"
The reason he answered that way was because he didn't care about Oswaldo Schneider's thanks at all. He only agreed to help because of the company and because of Amber King.
"All for the Amber King!"
Oswaldo Schneider straightened his expression and replied with the same words.
you?
For the King of Amber?
Ha ha!
It's more like it's for your own sake.
Diamond, sitting on the sofa, smiled faintly, a hint of sarcasm in his eyes, and his figure slowly disappeared.
Once he had completely disappeared, the smile on Oswaldo Schneider's face vanished instantly, replaced by boundless rage.
"Bang!"
"Snap!"
"boom!"
A fist the size of a sandbag slammed into the transparent coffee table in front of him, instantly shattering the entire table. The wine glasses on it broke, and bright red liquid spilled all over the floor.
He had already guessed that the ministers of various departments were unlikely to actually put in any effort.
The reason for asking the question knowing the answer is simply to put oneself on a moral high ground and, incidentally, to satirize others.
You see, the company has been affected, and only I, with my selfless dedication, am doing my best to eliminate the troubles for the company.
Everyone else is keeping their efforts to themselves and is unwilling to contribute.
The reason he was angry was mainly because of what Diamond had said earlier.
Although he didn't explicitly say which of the Stonehearts he would send, it's obvious to anyone with a brain who Diamond would send.
Placer gold!
Anyone in a slightly higher position knows that he has a grudge against them.
Sending him over at a time when the market development department is suffering repeated setbacks is simply disgusting.
When this guy actually gets there, he won't help me; he might even help that masked fool named Hanabi.
Clearly, Diamond saw an opportunity and was ready to kick someone when they were down.
If the fireworks issue isn't handled properly, it could become an excuse for him to impeach himself.
While it's unrealistic to bring down a manager with just this one incident, Diamond would be more than happy to do it, even if it just made him feel disgusted.
"This idiot, does he really think he can disgust me?"
"In the end, the one causing trouble is just a masked fool."
"Even if she has accomplices, as long as they are not the envoy, they are easy to deal with."
"The reason I tried to drag you into this was simply to avoid revealing my methods prematurely."
"However, at this point, it wouldn't hurt to expose a little bit."
Oswaldo Schneider gave a cold laugh and slowly walked to his desk.
He casually took a document out of the drawer.
"Westfuning Star - Galaxy Lotto - Planet Empowerment Project"
"Sifnin is not far from Alvard, where the opening ceremony of the Galactic Lotto is about to be held. Knowing Hanabi's personality, she will definitely go and cause trouble."
"All I need to do is set up a wide net there and wait for the fish to take the bait."
Oswaldo Schneider slowly picked up a photograph of fireworks from the table.
"This was originally prepared to deal with those annoying sea patrolmen."
"I never expected to run into you."
"Fool, you are really unlucky."
Despite this, there was no trace of pity on his face; instead, a strange smile hung on it.
...
