Chapter 36

Chance Encounter, Escape

Chapter 36 Chance Encounter, Escape

A deep glint flashed in Bibi Dong's eyes, but she spoke calmly, "Grandma Li is doing well. She just misses you and often comes to ask me when you're coming back. If Qiuqiu misses her, go see her."

Ye Jingqiu smiled happily, a smile playing on her lips. Thinking of her grandmother whom she hadn't seen in a long time, she felt a surge of emotion. She then stood up and said, "Auntie, I'll go now."

Before Bibi Dong could speak, Ye Jingqiu vanished in a flash.

"This child..."

Ye Jingqiu jogged to the door of Grandma Li's room. She lowered her head, tidied her clothes briefly, and then opened the door to go inside.

As soon as Ye Jingqiu entered the room, she smelled a faint medicinal scent. She frowned slightly and quickly walked towards the inner room.

Grandma Li, leaning against the bed, heard footsteps and asked, "Has the Holy Maiden returned yet? When is she coming back? Wasn't it supposed to be today? Why hasn't there been any news yet?"

A series of question marks made Ye Jingqiu stop in his tracks. He noticed that Grandma Li's hair had turned quite white, and there were several more wrinkles on her face.

Ye Jingqiu's eyes were slightly red. She took a deep breath and smiled slightly, her words filled with joy, "Grandma, I'm back."

"Oh! Qiuqiu is back." Grandma Li reached out her hand and struggled to stand up.

Ye Jingqiu quickly stepped forward and took Grandma Li's hand, "Grandma, I'm back."

Grandma Li reached out and touched Ye Jingqiu's face, touching it very carefully, as if she wanted to imprint her image in her heart. "Qiuqiu—"

The faint medicinal scent grew stronger as Ye Jingqiu approached Grandma Li. Ye Jingqiu's heart skipped a beat. "Grandma, have you been taking medicine lately? Are you feeling unwell?"

Grandma Li remained calm and said, "Without Qiuqiu, my leg pain is an old problem. After His Holiness the Pope found out, he found a doctor to examine my leg. It's not a serious problem, and it's much better now."

Upon hearing this, Ye Jingqiu didn't think much of it. Instead, she breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against Grandma Li's chest, whispering, "It's good that Grandma is alright."

Only when she was with Grandma Li did Ye Jingqiu feel like a child again, like that five or six-year-old who could always act spoiled with adults.

……

Yue Guan and Guang Ling stood to one side, while Gui Mei stood with her arms crossed, not too far from them.

Yue Guan looked at Guang Ling with concern and asked, "How is the Holy Maiden in the Hall of Offerings? Is anyone bullying her?"

Guang Ling raised an eyebrow and chuckled, "Who would dare bully the Holy Maiden of the Spirit Hall?" He paused, then looked at Yue Guan and teased, "You don't seem like the type to meddle in other people's business."

Yue Guan looked serious and said, "I watched the Holy Maiden grow up. Please do me a favor and keep an eye on her while we're in the Hall of Offerings. If anything happens, just have someone come find us and we'll be there right away."

Guangling clicked her tongue. "I never thought you'd need my help, Yue Guan."

Upon hearing this, Ghost seemed to lose his mind for some reason and flashed between Yue Guan and Guang Ling. He tilted his head and looked at Guang Ling, saying, "I'm asking you for help."

Guangling's lips curled up, her eyes shifting between Guimei and Yueguan. "You want my help? I'll have to think about it."

"You..." Ghost stared at Light Feather, unable to utter a single word for a long time.

"Me, me, me? What do you mean, 'me'? You're so disrespectful! I'm the Fifth Master of the Offering Hall. Show me some respect," Guangling said, enunciating each word clearly.

Ghostly glared at him, ignored him, and pulled Yue Guan away.

Guangling waved to Yueguan, "Chrysanthemum Pass, don't worry, I'll keep an eye on the Holy Maiden for you."

The ghostly figure paused for a moment, then quickened its pace.

Guangling watched the two figures disappear into the distance and chuckled. He had nothing else to say, but he loved coming to the Papal Palace; there was always something sweet to see.

……

Three days passed in the blink of an eye.

The three months spent in the Sanctuary were exchanged for the opportunity to spend three days in the Papal Palace.

Bibi Dong held Ye Jingqiu's hand, reluctantly reminding her, "Don't work too hard. Your aunt is waiting for you to come back. No matter what, you will always be the Holy Maiden of the Spirit Hall. Don't put too much pressure on yourself."

Ye Jingqiu nodded heavily, "Don't worry, Auntie, I know. Three months will pass in the blink of an eye, and I'll be back soon, Auntie."

"Qiuqiu, remember what your aunt said, be careful in everything you do."

"Okay." Ye Jingqiu smiled. Since she was taken back to the Spirit Hall when she was six years old, the longest time she had been away from the Papal Palace was to go to school at the Spirit Hall. Three months was already a long time.

Although she was reluctant to leave, she held back and didn't show it. "Don't worry, Auntie, I'll be going now."

"Go on." Bibi Dong waved goodbye reluctantly.

Guangling nodded to Yueguan, and Guimei flashed to block Yueguan, looking at him with a gloomy gaze.

The latest novel is first published here!

Guang Ling chuckled and then followed Ye Jingqiu. The three of them left the Papal Palace and headed towards Wuhun City.

This was Guangling's idea. Since the time set by Qiandaoliu hadn't arrived yet, they might as well go out for a stroll. He walked in front and pointed to a shop, saying, "The food at this shop is the best in Wuhun City. Come on, I'll take you two to try it."

Ye Jingqiu was still quite young and had a childlike nature, so she didn't object, and the three of them went into the restaurant together.

Guangling was clearly a regular customer. As soon as the waiter saw his face, he asked, "The usual?"

Guangling nodded, "Still the same as before." After saying that, he led the two to a seat by the window, and they could see the scene on the street.

Ye Jingqiu picked up her teacup and took a sip of tea. Then, she turned her head and her gaze fell on the six people on the street.

Xie Yue and Yan walked at the front, with Hu Liena holding Shen Qingqing's arm. The two were talking about something, and Song Liyang stood beside them, occasionally saying a few words.

Lu Si'en walked at the back, neither too close nor too far from the five people in front of him. His expression was cold, and it was unclear what he was thinking.

Ye Jingqiu's gaze fell on him, and Bibi Dong's words resurfaced in his mind.

Lu Si'en killed Zhang Wanhao.

Lu Si'en suddenly stopped in his tracks. He seemed to sense something and turned around. Ye Jingqiu was startled and quickly bent down.

When Lu Si'en turned her head, she met a pair of cold eyes. The man had silver hair, and when their eyes met, he smiled playfully and raised his glass to Lu Si'en.

Song Liyang stopped and turned around. "Lu Si'en, hurry up, what's wrong?"

Lu Si'en remembered this strange person. "It's nothing." He followed behind Song Liyang and walked forward together.

"Alright, they're gone, stop hiding," Guangling said with a smile.

Ye Jingqiu breathed a sigh of relief and sat up. She didn't know why she had been hiding; she just didn't know how to face it.

As Lu Si'en walked, he sensed something was wrong. The look in those eyes was familiar; it seemed to be Ye Jingqiu's. He turned around and ran back to where he had been.
