Chapter 679

That bastard!

Chapter 679 This...bastard!
But at that moment, Bibi Dong suddenly hissed softly, her brows furrowed even more, and she raised her hand to press her temple.

"What's wrong?" Qian Renxue asked immediately.

"Headache."

Bibi Dong closed her eyes briefly, her voice revealing genuine fatigue and discomfort—this time it wasn't an act.

Having been tormented by Dai Chengfeng for so long, and then startled by Qian Renxue's sudden visit, she was truly having a headache.

"It's an old problem, I just need to rest."

She paused, looked up at Qian Renxue, and softened her tone slightly: "I'm not lying to you. You must be tired from your journey, go back and rest."

This statement can be seen as an explanation, and also as a form of indirect reassurance.

Looking at her mother's tired face, Qian Renxue's doubts and unease eased slightly.

Maybe... I'm just overthinking it?
The mother may simply be unwell; after all, as the pope, overwork is a common occurrence.

"Then... Your Majesty, please rest well. I will take my leave."

Qian Renxue lowered her eyes, concealing the complex emotions within them, and respectfully bowed.

"Hmm." Bibi Dong responded faintly, without raising her eyes again.

Qian Renxue turned around and walked step by step toward the palace gate.

Her footsteps were light, but they could still be clearly heard in the quiet palace.

As she reached the door, she couldn't help but look back one last time.

In the candlelight, Bibi Dong leaned against the headboard, her purple hair loose, her profile appearing exceptionally soft and, in the light and shadow, exceptionally... lonely.

In that instant, an indescribable emotion welled up in Qian Renxue's heart, like heartache, or something deeper that she did not want to touch.

She gently closed the palace door.

With a soft click, the door closed.

The palace fell silent once more, with only the occasional soft crackling of the candlelight.

Only when Bibi Dong was certain that Qian Renxue's footsteps had completely faded away and disappeared at the end of the corridor did she finally let out a long, complete sigh of relief.

As her last breath escaped, she almost collapsed onto the bed, her forehead beaded with cold sweat.

"gone."

She murmured, her voice filled with a sense of relief and exhaustion.

Dai Chengfeng sat up fully from the shadows, looked at Bibi Dong's rarely seen disheveled appearance, and chuckled: "Even His Holiness the Pope has moments of nervousness?"

Bibi Dong suddenly turned her head and glared at him, her purple eyes blazing with renewed anger: "Dai Chengfeng!"

She spoke slowly and deliberately, each word seemingly squeezed out from between her teeth: "Were you... just now... looking for... death?!"

Recalling the marks that bastard had left on her neck and his little tricks, Bibi Dong trembled with rage.

If Xue'er saw it... she couldn't even imagine what that scene would be like.

Dai Chengfeng showed no fear. Instead, he reached out and pulled her into his arms, resting his chin on the top of her head, his voice tinged with amusement: "What are you afraid of? She hasn't noticed, has she?"

"That's because she didn't think that way!"

Bibi Dong struggled for a moment but couldn't break free. Frustrated, she pinched him again, "If only she had been a little more careful, or taken a few more steps closer..."

"Will not."

Dai Chengfeng took her mischievous hand, kissed it, and said firmly, "She respects you, but she also fears you. She won't approach you without your permission."

Bibi Dong remained silent for a moment, offering no rebuttal.

What Dai Chengfeng said is true.

There was always an invisible wall between her and Xue'er; there was plenty of respect, but not enough intimacy.

Xue'er wouldn't, and dared not, be too presumptuous in front of her.

“Moreover,” Dai Chengfeng’s voice lowered, carrying a hint of coaxing, “don’t you think…it’s exciting?”

Bibi Dong's body stiffened, then her face flushed bright red, whether from embarrassment or anger, it was hard to tell.
"you--!"

"She was right outside the door, just one door away."

Dai Chengfeng said slowly, his fingers tracing her smooth shoulder, "And you, Your Holiness the Pope, were in my arms just now..." "Shut up!"

Bibi Dong covered his mouth, her face flushed red, her purple eyes filled with a mixture of shame and anger. "Don't say it!"

Dai Chengfeng chuckled softly, the sound muffled in her palm.

He stuck out the tip of his tongue and gently licked her palm.

Bibi Dong pulled her hand back as if she had been burned, and glared at him fiercely.

"Okay, stop fooling around."

Seeing that things were going well, Dai Chengfeng pulled her closer and said in a serious tone, "Your Highness Qian Renxue is back. From now on, we need to be careful..."

When this was mentioned, Bibi Dong nodded slightly.

"Go to sleep," Dai Chengfeng said softly, pulling her closer. "You must be tired tonight too."

Bibi Dong hummed in agreement, then nestled obediently in his arms and closed her eyes.

However, just a moment later, she suddenly opened her eyes again, her tone returning to its usual calm: "You should go back too."

Dai Chengfeng was taken aback: "Huh?"

"Go back to your own place."

Bibi Dong pushed him away, sat up, and casually gathered her disheveled robe. Her tone left no room for argument, "Tonight has been chaotic enough. If you stay here, what if..."

"What if what?"

Dai Chengfeng also sat up, looking at her with a half-smile, "What if you, Princess Qianrenxue, go and then return?"

Bibi Dong didn't speak, but her eyes said it all.

Dai Chengfeng was both annoyed and amused by her behavior of not recognizing people after putting on her clothes.

But he also knew that Bibi Dong's concerns were not without merit.

If she were to make a surprise return visit, or come to pay her respects again the next morning and bump into him coming out of the Pope's bedroom, then things would get really interesting.

"Okay, I'm leaving."

Dai Chengfeng was quite decisive; he got out of bed and began to slowly and methodically put on his clothes.

Bibi Dong looked at his strong back and smooth muscle lines, her face flushed slightly, and she looked away.

After Dai Chengfeng finished dressing, he turned around and saw her with her face turned to the side and her ears slightly red. His heart stirred, and he walked back to the bedside, leaned down and stole a kiss on her lips.

"You!" Bibi Dong glared angrily.

Good night, Your Majesty.

Dai Chengfeng chuckled softly, finally ceasing his teasing, and turned to walk towards the hidden door on one side of the palace—a secret passage leading directly to his residence, known only to the two of them.

He stopped abruptly in front of the hidden door, turned back to look at Bibi Dong, and said, "By the way, Dong'er."

"What is it now?" Bibi Dong asked irritably.

“Next time…” Dai Chengfeng curled his lips, a mischievous glint in his eyes, “If she comes again, we can continue.”

His response was a pillow that flew in with a sharp gust of wind.

Dai Chengfeng laughed loudly and slipped into the secret passage, the hidden door closing silently.

The palace returned to silence.

Bibi Dong sat on the edge of the bed, looking in the direction of the hidden door. After a long while, she finally let out a soft breath.

She raised her hand and touched the side of her neck—there, the faint red marks left by Dai Chengfeng's sucking were still there.

"That...bastard."

She muttered a curse under her breath, but her tone didn't reveal much real anger.

Bibi Dong closed her eyes, suppressing her chaotic thoughts.

She lifted the quilt, got out of bed, and walked to the window.
