Chapter 702

“Deal.” Dai Chengfeng agreed immediately, so quickly that Bibi Dong suspected he had planned this all along. He smiled like a cat that had just stolen some cream, and leaned down to give her a deep kiss on the lips. “My Pope, you’re so good.”
Bibi Dong punched him playfully, but he grabbed her hand and kissed it.
“Oh, right,” Dai Chengfeng said as if he suddenly remembered something, taking something out of his pocket and putting it around Bibi Dong’s neck. “This is for you.”
Bibi Dong looked down and saw a necklace around her neck. The chain was made of an unknown silver metal, delicate and smooth, and the pendant was a teardrop-shaped blue gemstone that emitted a soft light, and one could vaguely sense the enormous energy contained within it.
"This is……"
“The Tear of the Wind God,” Dai Chengfeng explained. “It contains a trace of my original divine power. When you are in danger, it will automatically protect you, and I will sense it immediately and rush to your side as soon as possible.”
He paused, looking at her earnestly: "Dong'er, promise me, no matter what happens, don't take it off. Let me know you're safe, okay?"
Bibi Dong stroked the gem on her chest, feeling the familiar scent emanating from it, and a warm feeling welled up in her heart. She nodded gently: "Okay, I promise you."
Dai Chengfeng then revealed a satisfied smile and pulled her back into his arms.
The two sat embraced under the tree, enjoying a rare moment of tranquility. The sun shone brightly, a gentle breeze blew, and a faint, sweet fragrance filled the air; everything was so beautiful it seemed unreal.
Bibi Dong leaned on Dai Chengfeng's shoulder, feeling his steady breathing and strong heartbeat, a sense of peace washing over her. Perhaps, this was happiness. It didn't need to be grand or dramatic; it just needed someone willing to be by your side, offering a safe haven.
Before she knew it, drowsiness crept in. Bibi Dong yawned, her eyelids drooping.
"Tired?" Dai Chengfeng noticed her weariness and asked softly.
"Mmm," Bibi Dong mumbled sleepily, finding a more comfortable position in his arms.
"Go to sleep." Dai Chengfeng pulled over the papal robe beside him and wrapped it tightly around her, patting her back gently as if soothing a child. "I'll stay here with you."
Bibi Dong closed her eyes peacefully and soon fell into a deep sleep. In her sleep, a faint smile still lingered on her lips.
When Bibi Dong woke up, it was already dusk. She found herself still leaning against Dai Chengfeng's chest, covered with his outer robe, while the man looked down at her with a tender gaze that could drown a person.
"Awake?" His voice was tinged with amusement as he gently brushed the stray hairs from her forehead with his fingertips. "Did you sleep well?"
Bibi Dong sat up a little embarrassed and rubbed her eyes: "How long have I been asleep?"
"Not long, only two hours." Dai Chengfeng moved his slightly numb arms, but still kept his arms around her. "Seeing that you were sleeping so soundly, I couldn't bear to wake you."
Bibi Dong then realized that she had slept in his arms for so long. She subconsciously touched the necklace around her neck; the "Tear of the Wind God" still radiated a warm glow, as if reminding her that everything that had happened before was not a dream.
"Are you hungry?" Dai Chengfeng asked. "I've had dinner prepared, all of which are your favorite dishes."
Bibi Dong then realized her stomach was empty and nodded. Dai Chengfeng stood up with a smile and naturally extended his hand to her. Bibi Dong hesitated for a moment, but still placed her hand in his palm. He immediately closed his fingers, pulled her up from the ground, but did not let go immediately. Instead, he held her hand and walked towards the Papal Palace.
When the two returned to the Papal Palace, dinner was already laid out. Looking at the exquisite dishes on the table, Bibi Dong raised an eyebrow slightly: "When did you give the order?" "While you were asleep." Dai Chengfeng pulled out a chair for her, his movements so elegant that it was as if he were the master of the place. "Try this. I heard you haven't had a good appetite lately, so I specially asked the kitchen to stew some bird's nest."
Bibi Dong found his attentive manner both amusing and touching. She picked up a piece of fish and put it in her mouth; the delicious flavor melted on her tongue, and it was indeed her favorite taste.
"How does it taste?" Dai Chengfeng looked at her expectantly.
"It's acceptable." Bibi Dong deliberately kept a straight face, but a hint of a smile was revealed in her eyes.
Dai Chengfeng didn't expose her, and smiled as he served her a bowl of soup: "I'm glad you like it. If you want to eat something in the future, just tell me and I'll make it for you."
"You can cook?" Bibi Dong was somewhat surprised. The mighty Wind Goddess, actually knows how to cook?
“Of course.” Dai Chengfeng raised an eyebrow. “What, you don’t believe me? I’ll let you try my cooking another day, I guarantee you’ll rave about it.”
Bibi Dong looked at his confident demeanor and couldn't help but laugh: "Alright, I'll be waiting."
The meal was exceptionally warm and intimate. Dai Chengfeng kept piling food onto her plate, chattering about all sorts of amusing stories, making Bibi Dong chuckle several times. She couldn't remember the last time she had enjoyed a meal so easily. Since becoming Pope, she had always dined alone, and even the most delicious food tasted bland on an empty table. But now, with someone by her side, even ordinary food became palatable.
After dinner, Dai Chengfeng showed no intention of leaving. He naturally took Bibi Dong's hand and they strolled in the garden to aid digestion.
The city of Wuhun was quieter at night than during the day. The moonlight, like water, shone on the two of them, casting long shadows. Dai Chengfeng's hands were warm, tightly enveloping Bibi Dong's slightly cool fingers, as if he wanted to transfer all his warmth to her.
“Dong’er,” Dai Chengfeng suddenly stopped and turned to face her, his expression serious, “I will be leaving for a while tomorrow.”
Bibi Dong's smile faded: "Where to?"
“There are some matters to attend to in the God Realm,” Dai Chengfeng explained, reaching out to smooth her slightly furrowed brow. “Don’t worry, it’s nothing serious. I’ll be back in three to five days, or at most half a month.”
Bibi Dong was silent for a moment, then nodded: "Okay."
She knew she shouldn't stop him. He was a god, with his own responsibilities. And she, too, had things she had to do.
"Take care of yourself while I'm gone," Dai Chengfeng reminded him worriedly. "Eat on time, rest on time, and don't overwork yourself. If anything happens, contact me through the Tears of the Wind God, and I'll come back immediately."
"I know," Bibi Dong said with a hint of helplessness. "I'm not a child anymore."
“In my heart, you will always be a little girl who needs to be taken care of.” Dai Chengfeng smiled and pinched her cheek, then quickly added before she got angry, “Of course, a little girl who belongs only to me.”
Bibi Dong glared at him, but didn't refute him. Actually... she didn't dislike this feeling.
After walking for a while, Dai Chengfeng escorted her back to the entrance of her bedchamber.
"Get some rest." He lowered his head and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead. "Wait for me to come back."
"Mm," Bibi Dong responded softly, watching him turn and leave, his figure gradually disappearing into the night. (End of Chapter)
