Chapter 17

The Ruthless Ethan Even Takes Living Drawings

Ethan pondered and decided to ask about it tomorrow.

Perfect timing! Tomorrow's first class is a Charms class taught by their Ravenclaw Dean, Professor Flitwick.

After making a plan in my mind.

Ethan yawned widely and rubbed his eyelids, which were almost stuck together.

Actually, I was just too tired.

I had originally planned to write to Luna as soon as I arrived at Hogwarts.

But they still lost to Ravenclaw's endless steps and the Gosh problem.

Even with all our might, we could not defeat them.

I can only write it tomorrow morning.

Ethan, exhausted, didn't even have time to look at the dignified and elegant furnishings in the lounge.

I staggered into my dorm room and forced myself to finish washing up.

While other students were still working hard outside, he went straight to sleep.

I slept without any dreams.

......

The next morning.

My best friend Luna:

[I'm sorry, I should have written to you last night, but I was just too tired. Hogwarts is still quite a challenge for a clueless little wizard like me.]

I've received the manuscript for your latest episode of "Singing a Different Tune," and it's still very interesting.

I already have all sorts of ideas popping into my head, and I hope they'll be amazed.

By the way, I was assigned to Ravenclaw.

Although it was somewhat unexpected, I quickly found it to be a perfect fit for me. The people here are so pleasant to talk to, and everyone is so talented; I love it!

I believe a clever little witch like you will definitely be assigned to Ravenclaw. I can't wait to be your classmate.

We can do so many things together then, and realize so many brilliant ideas!

[Just a heads up, I might write to you quite often. Don't find it annoying, after all, all sorts of amazing things happen at Hogwarts every day.]

Looking forward to your reply, Ethan Vincent

[P.S. It's such a shame I can't try your grilled colorful fish feast. Just from your description, I can imagine how delicious it must be.]

I reviewed the letter in my hand and confirmed that there were no problems.

Ethan nodded, carefully folded the letter, and a smile unconsciously crept onto his lips.

On the windowsill, Luna's owl, Carrot, tilted its head and looked at him, its round, bright yellow eyes like two buttons, radiating a clear light.

Ethan reached out his hand, and it affectionately rubbed its head against it, raising its little paw as if it were quite skilled.

After delivering so many letters, it started to regard Ethan as its second master.

"What are you looking at? Why are you laughing so happily?"

A plaintive voice rang out.

Ethan turned his head and saw Michael sitting on the edge of the bed with his hair disheveled, looking like Sadako.

His haggard face and dark circles under his eyes made him look like he'd had a hangover last night.

Ethan advised with some difficulty, "It's better to go to bed early tonight, otherwise you won't grow tall."

Upon hearing this, Michael's eyes widened, and he stared at Ethan in disbelief, shouting:

"Go to bed early?? Don't I want to go to bed early?!"

As if he had opened a floodgate, Michael began to rant and rave.

"Do you know what time we went into the lounge last night? Hurry up!"

"After you left, no one could concentrate at all. We didn't finally answer the question about changing the door knocker until midnight!"

Even though the Ethans had already gone inside, his image still lingered in everyone's minds like a nightmare.

It's absolutely toxic.

In the other bed, Mandy Brohe nodded and slowly put on his thick glasses, looking like an old man in his seventies or eighties.

Because Ravenclaw has the fewest students, each dormitory room is for three people.

The space is also very large, and each person has their own small area with an independent study desk.

Ethan has already made his plans.

Once he earns money, he will definitely buy lots and lots of art books, and lots and lots of exquisite models and ornaments.

He filled his once empty desk to the brim.

......

They ruthlessly abandoned their companions who hadn't even gotten out of bed yet.

Amidst their envious and jealous gazes, Ethan went alone to the auditorium and enjoyed a sumptuous breakfast.

There were fried eggs that were medium-rare with slightly set yolks, perfectly cooked bacon, mini sausages, roasted tomatoes, pudding stuffed with meat filling, and various kinds of bread.

And a wide variety of jams.

Ethan also saw a jar of "biting berry jam".

Hmm, it tastes like eating popping candy, with a slight tingling sensation on the tip of the tongue.

the strange thing is.

Ravenclaw is clearly the most hardworking of the four houses.

This morning, however, there were not many people at the long table.

The few who were eating were yawning constantly.

Sigh~ I need to maintain a regular sleep schedule.

Ethan shook his head seriously.

After finishing his meal, Ethan carried his textbooks and slowly walked towards the Spells classroom.

The Charms class is located on a high floor of the tower.

Going early has its advantages, especially for freshmen who are not yet familiar with the ways of Hogwarts.

Ethan patiently waited for the staircase ahead to change direction, glancing sideways at the Gryffindors rushing away.

"Where are you going, little wizard?"

The painting on the wall beside him spoke.

The painting depicts a plump woman with heavy makeup on her face, smiling and holding a fan as she looks at him.

"Charms classroom, beautiful lady," Ethan said politely, while curiously examining the painting.

"Oh ho ho ho~ You're really good with words."

The woman blushed, then burst into laughter, pointing out the path to the classroom to Ethan.

"Thank you," Ethan said. "I'm curious how you were depicted in the painting—I mean, how you moved around like this?"

The photos in the magical world may move, but they are merely like GIF animations and do not possess much self-awareness.

But living paintings are different.

It truly incorporates a part of a creature's soul and consciousness into the portrait.

To bring them to life in a truly meaningful way.

Ethan really wanted to paint such a picture.

"What an inquisitive child," the woman said. "As far as I can remember, I had a portion of my memories copied into a portrait while I was still alive."

"Hmm, I think there's also a point to consider in the choice of canvas and paint. You haven't learned ancient runes yet, have you? The canvas must have been imprinted with a spell beforehand."

"Oh, I see."

Ethan nodded thoughtfully, then suddenly asked:

"So, do you think you possess a soul, or are you merely a 'clone' acting according to memories?"

"what?"

The woman was stunned.

This question hit a nerve, leaving her completely bewildered.

"Am I... do I have a soul...? Who am I? What am I...?"

Thank you for your explanation.

Ethan nodded in satisfaction, leaving behind the utterly chaotic and pitiful portrait, and leisurely stepped onto the stairs back in their place.

What he wanted to do was not just to replicate the living painting.

He wants to build upon the achievements of his predecessors and go even further!

If it were possible to bring the paper figures in the painting into reality through "summoning"...

That would be very interesting.

Ethan licked his lips, a strange light gleaming in his eyes.

He chuckled as he pondered intently.

His appearance made the other young wizards keep their distance.

Ron, who was going downstairs to have breakfast, was stunned and muttered:

"I don't want to end up like him! Ethan's gone crazy trying to imitate him!"

"Ha ha."

Harry chuckled twice, inwardly thinking:

Dude, you're overthinking it.

We lack both talent and diligence, so we probably won't become like Ethan.

That's really worrying unnecessarily.
