Chapter 4
Luna: Then let me ask you...
"If you master Transfiguration, then your wand can become your paintbrush," Ollivander added, "a paintbrush that you'll find incredibly easy to use."
"Of course, although that's what they say, it's actually the wand that chooses the wizard."
After leaving the wand shop.
Ethan stood on the street, stroking the hornbeam wand in his hand.
It gleams faintly in the sunlight, its horizontal ridges filled with golden light, giving it a very dignified appearance.
It looks like something a kind and good wizard would use.
It couldn't be more perfect for me.
Ethan nodded in satisfaction and put away his wand.
Next, Ethan prepared to buy other school supplies.
According to the map, Ethan found a place called "Secondhand Shop".
According to the small print floating next to the map, this shop sells all kinds of second-hand items, including old books, wobbly old scales, and crucibles with peeling paint.
Next to it was a secondhand robe shop, so I bought one there too.
The secondhand shop was located on the south side of Diagon Alley, and Ethan strolled over there.
The warm sunlight shone on his face, making his features appear even whiter and more handsome, attracting a lot of attention along the way.
What an adorable child!
The offices of The Daily Prophet were also located on the south side.
Wizards in formal attire came and went, most of them with a shorthand notebook floating beside them, constantly taking notes, very busy.
Ethan's gaze had initially been merely sweeping across the area casually.
However, he suddenly stopped after noticing a figure.
A slender girl was standing next to the entrance of the Daily Prophet.
In fact, it's hard for passersby not to notice her.
She had long, light blonde curly hair and two large radish ornaments hanging from her ears.
She was dressed in brightly colored, bizarre clothes, wearing pointed shoes that looked like boats, and carrying a stack of magazines.
She stood there quietly, a detached expression on her beautiful, serene face.
Passersby walked past her, but she never truly saw them; they were like ghosts from another world.
—Luna?! When did she arrive?!
Upon seeing the characters from the original work, Ethan couldn't help but step forward.
I was just about to say hello when I caught a glimpse of a small tuft of hair sticking out on Luna's head, and blurted out:
Why is your head so pointy?
Luna turned her head indifferently, her wandering gray-blue eyes falling on him, a fleeting smile playing on her lips:
"Then let me ask you."
"Do you know about the Gringotts theft that happened not long ago? — To be precise, nothing was stolen."
Ethan snapped out of his daze.
Although she didn't know why this topic came up, she still went along with it and said, "Yes, I understand."
In my memory, this was Voldemort's attempt to steal the Philosopher's Stone stored in Vault 713 in order to restore his body.
But he failed, because Hagrid had already taken the Philosopher's Stone before he could break in.
"actually."
Luna suddenly leaned closer to him, her wide, grey-blue eyes rivaling those of Mr. Ollivander.
He said mysteriously:
"This was done by goblins."
?
Ethan raised his eyebrows.
Luna: "They were just holding their 77th Great Assembly. They dug tunnels to invade from underground, which is why Gringotts didn't find them."
Luna's large eyes were fixed on Ethan, her ethereal voice amplifying the absurdity of her words.
Ethan paused, then asked with interest, "So, do you know what the goblin gatherings do?"
"Of course, it's to prepare to resurrect their master," Luna said confidently.
"The goblin rulers were defeated by humans long ago, and now they must find a way to resurrect them and restore the goblins' status."
"Look," Luna pointed to the little tuft of hair on her head, "it's goblin tribal language, it means 'Your plan has failed! Get out of here!'"
...This sounds like a goblin version of "Voldemort's Resurrection Plan"!
Ethan steadied himself.
Looking at Luna's earnest face, he sincerely said, "I think you're absolutely right."
"Unfortunately, when real danger strikes, all those people will say is, 'Maybe we should have done something, but it's too late.'"
A cynical glint appeared in Ethan's eyes.
This flippant attitude infuriated him, and he couldn't wait to do something about it.
For example... to make them truly regret "what they should have done back then".
On the other side, Luna widened her eyes slightly in surprise upon hearing Ethan's words.
This is not a perfunctory response.
The stranger genuinely believed that what he said made a lot of sense.
She tilted her head and carefully examined Ethan.
My gaze swept over his thin clothes without lingering for a moment—or rather, I hadn't paid any attention to him at all from the beginning.
Luna looked directly into his cobalt blue eyes.
Tranquil and peaceful, like two brilliant yet cold and hard gemstones.
Yet within that deep interior, a fierce, fiery vitality and an endless force of resistance burst forth.
Luna's eyes crinkled into a smile, and she flashed a joyful, doe-like grin, instantly bringing her face to life.
She felt confident that she could become good friends with Ethan.
"My name is Luna Lovegood. I'll be attending Hogwarts next year, and I'm here promoting our family magazine, The Quibbler."
Luna said cheerfully, extending her hand to Ethan while showing him the stack of magazines in her arms.
The cover features the ugly faces of Gringotts goblins and goblins, their expressions distorted.
It appears that the two sides are vying for the title of "ugliest contestant".
They distributed "Singing a Different Tune" outside the Daily Prophet.
Very good, very energetic.
"My name is Ethan Vincent." Ethan shook Luna's hand warmly and smiled as well. "I'm going to Hogwarts this year, and I really enjoy drawing."
Before they knew it, the two began to walk side by side.
Luna skipped along beside Ethan as they went to the secondhand shop, enthusiastically helping him select items.
"Hey, this scale must be able to weigh the true weight of things—because when you weigh the Daily Prophet with it, it shows zero weight."
As Luna spoke, she turned her head and saw Ethan standing in front of a shelf.
What came into Ethan's view was a whole box of paint.
They were not properly preserved; most of them were shriveled, and the various colors of paint had solidified on the boxes, making them look very dirty and messy.
Using them for painting will certainly prevent them from reaching their full potential.
But then again.
The price is relatively inexpensive.
Only 9 silver Sikor and 21 bronze Nat are needed.
Ethan bit his lip, his fingers fidgeting among the coins.
He longed to transform the black-and-white world of sketches into a colorful one.
Nine silver coins aren't expensive, even though the quality isn't great, but he needs a box of paints...
However, once you have paints, you'll need matching paper... hmm, that's another expense...
Ethan was torn, calculating his student aid money, wishing he could stretch every penny to its limit.
Just as he hardened his heart and reached for the box of paints, determined to take it down,
Luna, who was standing nearby, spoke up:
"Do you want paint? How about you illustrate 'The Quibbler'? We'll provide you with the paint."
"Well, there's also drawing paper and stuff, if you need it."
! !
Ethan turned around abruptly and met Luna's clear and bright eyes.
