Chapter 10

I really want to improve.

Jel is a member of the Ghostwood Town Guard, which can be considered as following in his father's footsteps.

Since his grandfather came to Ghostwood with Baron Castor, their family has lived here for generations.

He considered himself loyal to Baron Castor, and perhaps when he grew old, he would be granted a surname by Baron Castor.

He's an old man from Youmu, a loyal minister among loyal ministers.

The surname is probably something like Kirk, because Kirk means "small shield" in Ghostwood Town, which is a local dialect.

With this surname, others can immediately tell where you're from and what you do for a living.

However, Jell didn't really like Kirk, who represented a small shield, and preferred Kirchas, who represented a sharp sword.

But Kirchas had long since become someone else's surname, much to Jair's regret.

He leaned against the wall, holding a spear, and yawned.

"Why can't we just sit down?"

Jell asked Tel, a young man in his twenties or thirties, a question that was much more robust than the skinny Jell.

Tel chuckled, "My dad said that if you want the higher-ups to remember your good deeds, you have to show them your tears and blood."

"Otherwise, why would the higher-ups remember your good deeds?"

As Jer listened, he stroked his chin and said, "Why didn't my father teach me these things?"

"Didn't your father teach you about the various prostitutes' spots in Ghostwood Town? That's a huge and valuable resource."

Tel winked and said, "The guards have asked you for a lot of favors."

Jer said irritably, "What's the use of that? I don't even have a surname yet. You've already got one."

"My surname means something like a long stick, it's useless." Although Tel was complaining, it was obvious on his face that he was showing off.

Jer leaned against the wall, sighing.

He turned his head and saw three fireballs floating in the air on the road.

Ok?

He narrowed his eyes and immediately noticed something was wrong.

"Jel? What's wrong?"

Tel was curious and prepared to see what had happened on the road.

Kegel immediately rushed to Tel and then grabbed his head with a thud.

"We're brothers, right?"

Jer looked at Tel seriously.

Tel felt a chill run down his spine and swallowed hard. "We're just childhood playmates, barely brothers."

"They're brothers too!"

Jer said earnestly.

Tel felt a growing sense of unease, and he forced himself to remain calm as he looked at Jer: "Brother, I would never do anything that would betray my integrity."

"Huh?" Jel was puzzled, not understanding what Ter was going on about. "What does this have to do with betraying one's personality? Besides, do you even know what personality is?"

"Of course I know what personality means! I've heard this word from the monk."

"Tel said."

"What does this have to do with what I'm about to say?" Jel stared at Tel in front of him. "If we're brothers, then we should be willing to go to great lengths for each other."

"However, I certainly won't ask you to go to great lengths for me. You just need to promise me one small thing."

Tel slowly leaned against the wall, swallowed hard, and said, "I'd rather have a knife stuck in my back."

"Um????"

Jell couldn't understand a word his brother was saying, but it didn't matter.

If they're willing to stab someone with a knife, then they're certainly willing to do anything else.

"It seems you agree."

Jer looked at Tel with satisfaction: "Tonight, I'll treat you to something special."

Goodbye.

Tel quickly shook his head, "I'm afraid I'll become that meat."

Jell didn't understand what Tel was refusing, but he still said generously, "Anything is fine, I owe you a favor."

"Since it's settled then, you stand still and don't move. Give me this chance to be the mage's dog."

With that, Jer quickly released Tel and ran towards the place where the three fireballs were floating.

Ok? ? ?

Tel was stunned.

No, buddy?

What are you doing?

So you just wanted to be the mage's dog? I thought you were up to something else.

wrong!

How dare you steal the opportunity I gave you to be the mage's dog?

Tel kept slapping his thigh, looking frustrated: "Ugh, why didn't I see it! Why did I agree to it?!"

Seeing that his brother was about to hitch a ride with the sorcerer and take off.

Perhaps then we won't need to guard the gate anymore—no, we definitely won't need to guard the gate anymore.

"Damn it! How come you're so ready to strike it rich?"

He would rather his brother had been thinking about his own ditch.

"I can be a dog too!"

Tel practically slapped his thigh raw.

When Jer turned around and saw his brother slapping his thigh, he couldn't help but feel overjoyed.

It tastes like honey water, absolutely delicious.

Even when he accidentally tripped and fell, he scrambled to Lou Le's side.

Kneeling before Lou Le, he loudly proclaimed, "Welcome, Venerable Master, to Youmu Town!"

Lou Le glanced at the soldier in front of him but didn't say anything.

Jer quickly replied, "Master Mage, is this your first time visiting Ghostwood Town? Ghostwood Town is close to Ghostwood Forest, so there are many adventurers, alchemists, and abundant herbal resources."

"Jel is willing to guide you, Master Mage. If you are looking for a Master Mage in Ghostwood Town, I am very familiar with that place. I will make sure you don't have to go through any trouble."

After saying all that, Jer lowered his head and waited for the mage's decision.

"Since you crawled and scrambled your way here, then keep crawling."

Lou Le said casually.

"Okay!"

Without any hesitation, Jer immediately said, "Master Mage, you don't know, I've loved rolling on the ground since I was a child. And when it comes to rolling speed, absolutely no one in Ghostwood City can surpass me!"

"Who are you looking for? Is it the mage lord of Ghostwood Town, or Baron Castor?"

"I'll go find the mage in Ghostwood Town; I have something to discuss."

Lou Le was just saying it casually, but Jer took advantage of the situation.

Lou Le found it somewhat amusing, but he could also understand it.

After all, this is a matter of goodwill.

Even though Lou Le himself didn't care, one day Jere really encountered something.

Jer will have a reason to come and find Lou Le.

Even with this small difference, Lou Le could save Jeremy from countless troubles, even if he did nothing.

Lou Le then said, "Lead the way."

"Alright, please follow me."

He removed the iron spearhead from the spear and then inserted it into a long wooden tube.

After packing everything properly, he immediately curled up into a ball and rolled towards Ghostwood Town.

Lou Le followed behind.

As Jell passed by Tel, he gave Tel a smug look.

Tel also gave him a look—you beast, where's your integrity? So obsequious? At least give me a chance.

That's outrageous!
