Chapter 13
Storm Emperor and the Seven True Gods
Chapter 13 [Storm Emperor] and [Seven True Gods] (Please continue reading)
"Advanced vibrational power, hahaha, this is advanced vibration."
"I have mastered the first stage of the Golden Cross Slash, the Vibrating Cross Slash."
The thrill of this increased strength made Li Wei exclaim with delight.
"Now, I should be able to put up a fight against a quasi-knight. It's just a pity I haven't had the chance to test it out. After all, the Golden Cross Slash is a killing move; once it's used, blood will be drawn!"
Li Wei sheathed his sword. It had been a year since he began practicing the Black Serpent Breathing Technique, and he was now close to reaching the third level, which he should be able to achieve by the end of the year.
At that time, I will be a true quasi-knight.
All it takes is to gather the Seed of Life to become a formal knight.
Becoming a formal knight means that you finally have the ability to protect yourself in this world and have entered the ranks of the upper-middle level of power in this world.
Overall, the breathing technique is considerably more difficult to master than the first stage of the Golden Cross Slash.
Of course, Li Wei guessed that it might also be because he had good natural talent in swordsmanship.
"Next, I'll focus all my efforts on mastering the Black Serpent Breathing Technique and strive to break through to the third tier as soon as possible."
After setting his goal, Li Wei once again entered a period of intense work.
That's life as a lord: repetitive, boring, and tedious. But every time Li Wei sees the notification that his proficiency has increased by 1, he feels that it's all worth it.
……
The year 1004 of the Holy Radiance Calendar, the month of Frosty Winter.
This occurred three years after the end of the millennium-long holy war between the Emerald Kingdom and the Tuva Empire.
Although the two countries no longer have a major war, small-scale conflicts continue.
In reality, everyone knows that this is not a war between two countries.
Rather, it's a conflict within the church behind the scenes.
The Church of Holy Light, which believes in [Heavenly Father], and the Church of Storm, which believes in [Storm Emperor], are constantly trying to expand their territories and extend their influence to the whole world in order to increase their own influence!
Of course, it's difficult to do that.
There are seven major kingdoms and empires in the world today, and the people and nobles of each country have their own righteous gods and beliefs.
With constant open and covert struggles among various forces, the difficulty of destroying the other six kingdoms and the church and unifying the world is self-evident.
However, the purpose and significance of the seven major churches since their inception has been to spread the faith.
Therefore, in the foreseeable future, the evolution of civilization will inevitably be inseparable from the struggles between these religions.
Putting aside the major wars between nations, a great battle was also taking place within the mountains where Blackwater Valley is located.
In the dense forest, hundreds of mountain wolves surrounded a silvery-white giant bear that had just awakened from hibernation.
The silver-white giant bear has a shoulder height of 1.8 meters and a body length of over 4 meters.
This is one of the most famous wild animals in the North: the Northern Giant Bear.
Upon reaching adulthood, they possess the strength of knights, with the best among them even possessing the combat power of high-ranking knights, easily capable of slaying giant elephants.
This northern giant bear is actually slightly smaller in size because it is a female bear.
If it is an adult male bear, it usually possesses the strength of a peak knight.
Opposite the giant bear of the North were wolves roaming the mountains and plains, led by the mountain wolf king.
The Mountain Wolf is the most terrifying creature in the Black Forest, though its individual strength is far inferior to that of the Northern Giant Bear. However, it excels in teamwork and has a large number of members.
However, under normal circumstances, even a pack of hundreds of wolves would rarely hunt down a northern giant bear.
The problem is that there are too many wolves, and food is scarce this year.
This area originally belonged to the Mountain Wolf King, but this spring, a mother bear invaded its territory, competing with it for the already scarce food and occasionally hunting down its pack of wolves.
Today, taking advantage of the mother bear's hibernation, the wolf king of the mountain considered for a long time and decided to deal with the mother bear and have a good meal.
Unexpectedly, the mother bear was very alert and seemed to have sensed the arrival of the wolf pack from a great distance. She actually tried to escape, but of course, she was eventually caught up by the wolf pack led by the wolf king.
Now, the mother bear, surrounded by a pack of wolves, has stopped running. In terms of speed and endurance, she can't possibly outrun the wolves.
These are the most patient hunters, among the few who can rival human hunters in endurance.
It wanted to finish the battle quickly. It roared, its voice echoing through the mountains and forests. Its front feet left the ground, and it stood upright. Its majestic body, like a demon god, was almost two stories high.
Many ordinary mountain wolves began to retreat. Seeing this, the mountain wolf king looked up and howled to the sky to boost the morale of his side. It was a rare mutated wolf king, a being comparable to a knight, although it was no match for the Northern Giant Bear in a one-on-one fight.
But it is not a lone wolf.
And so, the wolf and the bear began their battle in the valley.
Countless wolves charged fearlessly at the mother bear, but the mother bear slapped them down, turning any wolves that couldn't dodge into a bloody mess.
Let alone wolves, even knights wearing armor, unless it's plate armor, can't withstand a single blow from the Northern Giant Bear. While plate armor can barely withstand a frontal impact, the immense force can still shatter the internal organs and bones of most non-defensive breathing technique knights.
Both sides fought with all their might to survive.
There is no right or wrong, it's just about... living!
In the end, the Northern Giant Bear was covered in mountain wolves, its thick, tough fur was covered in wounds, and countless drops of blood stained the snow.
It was exhausted, but it did not give up; instead, it continued to fight.
Ultimately, after losing a third of her pack of wolves, the mother bear was on the verge of death.
The cautious mountain wolf king then made his move, its sharp canine teeth biting into the neck of the northern giant bear, while the other mountain wolves immediately began to disembowel it.
The fierce roar of the giant northern bear echoed through the mountains and forests, and birds and beasts scattered.
Even the king of the mountains and forests is about to fall.
In this region, there can only be one king, and that is the Mountain Wolf King.
Not long after, the giant bear fell completely silent, and the battle was over.
The wolf king was enjoying his spoils. With the giant bear's carcass and the corpses of his dead companions, it should be enough to last for a month.
It showed no pity for the dead wolves, knowing that as long as there was enough food, fresh blood would soon join the pack.
What the wolf king of the mountain didn't know was that, in the den of a mother bear more than ten miles away, three bear cubs the size of calves were gazing sadly in the direction where their mother had died, running aimlessly and frantically.
They were born this spring. Northern giant bears need more than seven years to mature, and although they are less than a year old, they do not yet know how to hunt.
Instinct tells them that perhaps only by living in the border area between the deep mountains and human settlements can they, as bear cubs who do not know how to hunt, survive. There, they can sneak into human settlements at night to scavenge for food and stay away from these dangerous wolf packs.
The three little chubby bears are as follows: one is grayish, one is pure white and looks most like their mother, and the other seems to be a genetic mutation, with both black and white markings. In short, they are all chubby and lack the majestic presence of their mother.
The three little ones, head to tail, stumbled and ran towards the valley where Blackwater Valley was located, where an unknown new life awaited them.
Before they learn to hunt and are strong enough, they will most likely die young and never see the sun rise again. But that's how cruel the world is.
Living is inherently difficult, isn't it?
