Chapter 28
The Struggle Between Demons and Monsters
Keep moving forward.
Suddenly, Liu Lin froze, stopped, and looked at the bushes not far ahead.
Lin Chen and Rou Rou followed Liu Lin's gaze and found half a roe deer lying on the top of the bushes.
That's right, it's half a bird.
Half of its body was missing, and the remaining part was still bleeding profusely, clearly indicating that the roe deer had only recently died.
"Be careful!" Liu Lin warned, then instructed Rou Rou, "Give me a shield."
Rou Rou nodded, star trails appeared around her, and she reached out and pointed at Liu Lin. In an instant, a water armor appeared around Liu Lin.
Liu Lin quickly glanced around but found nothing unusual, so she relaxed and walked forward.
Just then, without warning, a ferocious beast covered in mud-like skin pounced out from behind the bushes. This beast had powerful forelimbs and sharp claws.
At that moment, it was waving its claws and reaching for Liu Lin.
Although Liu Lin was already quite alert and even suspected that the demon that killed the roe deer was nearby, no one expected that the demon was actually hiding behind the bushes.
Fortunately, Liu Lin had been cautious and had Rou Rou put a shield on it beforehand. Otherwise, at such close range, if Liu Lin hadn't reacted in time, she might have been decapitated.
"Bang!"
The demon's claws struck the shield, which intercepted the attack but was also fluctuating violently, seemingly unable to withstand the demon's damage.
Whoosh, the demon continued to swing its claws, trying to completely shatter the shield, but just as it raised its claws, Agumon rushed over and cleaved it in two with a single blow. The spilled blood splattered everywhere, and if Liu Lin hadn't had a shield to protect her, she would have been covered in blood.
"Sister Lin, what kind of monster is this? Even you almost fell for it."
Lin Chen approached the monster and examined it closely. He discovered that its muddy skin had turned white after death, and that its forelimbs, hindlimbs, and body had cuts of varying sizes, indicating that it had been injured before.
"No, it looks like it was injured before."
Upon hearing this, Liu Lin glanced at the demon's corpse and was immediately shocked. If it was this fast even when injured, how much faster would it be if it wasn't injured? She might already be dead.
"I don't recognize it, and the information provided by the Hunter Alliance doesn't mention it either. It seems to be a mutated demon."
After two consecutive attacks by demons, Lin Chen and his group became increasingly vigilant, fearing that they might encounter some irreparable danger if they were not careful, and their pace inevitably slowed down.
After walking about three or four miles deeper into the area, Lin Chen suddenly felt a jolt as he sensed an extremely dangerous aura.
At the same time, he noticed that Liu Lin and Rou Rou's expressions had also become serious, while only the always confident Agumon was calmly looking around.
"Sister Lin, is there a powerful demon nearby?" Lin Chen asked in a low voice.
"Yes, it's so quiet here," Liu Lin said.
"Is silence also abnormal?" Lin Chen realized he had learned something new.
Liu Lin nodded and explained, "Normally, even in the quietest wilderness, there would be faint chirping of insects and calls of birds; but now, apart from a slight wind, there are no chirping of insects or calls of birds, which means that this area should belong to the territory of a powerful demon, or at least there is an advanced-stage warrior-level demon."
"An advanced-stage warrior-level demon?" Lin Chen muttered to himself. He knew very well that the advanced-stage warrior-level demons mentioned here were those in their prime, not the severely injured and dying ones that they had encountered before. These were the ones that could easily kill them if they weren't careful.
"Let's take a detour," Lin Chen suggested.
Just as Lin Chen and the others were preparing to change direction, a deafening roar came from several hundred meters in front of them.
"roar!"
Immediately afterwards, two more different but slightly weaker roars rang out.
Lin Chen and the other two exchanged glances, all seeing intense curiosity in each other's eyes.
Therefore, Lin Chen and the other two did not choose to leave, but instead went in the direction from which the sound came.
After walking forward for more than two hundred meters, Lin Chen, his two companions, and the beast stopped and hid in the waist-high weeds, looking into the distance through the weeds.
At the end of his line of sight, a scene appeared that shocked Lin Chen.
Hundreds of meters away, three enormous demons were lurking.
A giant black bear, over twenty meters tall, exuding an explosive aura.
A giant, yellowish-brown python, as thick as a bathtub, with its coiled body alone reaching the height of two or three stories.
These two demons each exuded an aura comparable to Garurumon, clearly indicating that they were two demons at the level of a great general.
But that wasn't what surprised Lin Chen the most. What surprised him the most was that, facing off against the two general-level demons was a giant crocodile that was seven or eight meters tall and more than thirty meters long.
The aura emanating from it was the reason why there were no insects chirping or birds singing within a radius of several hundred meters; it was clearly an advanced-stage warrior-level demon.
"Are they going to fight?" Lin Chen asked curiously, but his expression quickly darkened. "Damn it, we're doomed!"
Liu Lin, Rou Rou, and Agumon heard Lin Chen's angry shouts and immediately looked around, but found nothing unusual.
"Little Orange, what's wrong?" Liu Lin asked.
"Sister Lin, take a closer look. Doesn't that giant crocodile look like our target, the giant crocodile?" Lin Chen pointed to the giant crocodile in the distance.
Upon hearing this, Liu Lin and Rou Rou stared intently at the giant crocodile for a few moments, recalling the information Zhan Kong had given them. After a while, they realized that it was indeed their target.
The two exchanged a glance, and a bitter smile unconsciously crept onto their lips.
Looking at the giant crocodile in front of him, Lin Chen grew increasingly frustrated and couldn't help but complain, "They said it was a broken clan, they said there were no commanders, but it actually has advanced-stage warriors!"
Dragon-type demons are inherently much stronger than ordinary demons. Advanced-stage dragon-type demons can rival sub-commanders in strength. Taking things from them would be like pulling teeth from a tiger's mouth.
Roar!
Before Lin Chen could recover from his frustration, the giant crocodile roared, its body trembled, and it charged towards the giant python and the giant bear, thus beginning the battle between the demons.
As the giant crocodile charged, the ground trembled continuously, and leaves fell from the trees around the bushes where Lin Chen, his two companions, and the beast were hiding.
The battles between demons are far more dangerous and brutal than those between humans or between humans and demons, with every move and every strike filled with primal bloodshed and violence.
