The Banshee Incident

After leaving Dean Xiao, Lin Chen was still wondering what that mysterious opportunity was when a phone rang from his pocket.

Lin Chen picked up his phone and glanced at the caller ID; it was Lingling calling.

As soon as Lin Chen swiped to answer, before he could even speak, Lingling's voice came from the phone.

"Lin Chen, it's a bit unusual to receive a commission like this. Let's meet at the Masterpiece Private Garden before dark tonight."

Before Lin Chen could even ask about the details, Lingling hung up the phone.

In the evening, Lin Chen walked out of the school gate and hailed a taxi. Three pretty girls rushed towards the taxi.

The driver glanced at Lin Chen, seeking his opinion. Lin Chen shrugged, not objecting. After all, riding in a car with three pretty young ladies would be a good experience.

"Master, let's go to the Masterpiece Private Garden," said one of the girls with bangs.

"It just so happens that you're all going to the same destination, so you don't have to take a detour." The driver was very happy, earning two coins on one trip.

After getting off the bus, watching the three girls' departing figures, Lin Chen had a feeling of déjà vu.

"Hey, Lingling, what's your request today? You seem a bit strange." Lin Chen took out his phone and called Lingling first.

"There was a couple who both said the other was a monster..."

Before Lingling could finish speaking, Lin Chen's head suddenly exploded.

No wonder I had a sense of familiarity; it turns out that the first three were the banshee's initial targets in the Scaled Banshee incident.

"Lin Chen, why aren't you saying anything? Where are you? How long until you arrive?!" Lingling asked.

"I'm not coming anytime soon. Keep an eye on the surveillance footage and tell me immediately if there are any problems!" Lin Chen said, then hung up the phone and chased after the three female students ahead.

"How dare he hang up on me! Lin Chen has gotten too big for his britches!" Lingling pouted, then wondered how Lin Chen knew she was monitoring the other side of the screen.

Lingling dialed Lin Chen's number again: "What's wrong with you today? Why haven't you come yet! Don't you know that our mission this time is to protect someone's child!"

"Don't worry, I left Gabumon at that house's door with a phone hanging around his neck. We'll create a group chat and have a voice call later. If you see any problems in the monitor, just call out," Lin Chen said.

"Placing this place right in front of someone's doorstep, aren't you afraid of alerting them?" Lingling was a little angry.

"It's hard to explain now, just listen to me!" Lin Chen said, then hung up the phone, created a discussion group, added Lingling and Gabumon to it, and started a group voice chat.

"Hmph!" Lingling answered the call and let out a cold snort to express her dissatisfaction. Then she said urgently, "Damn it, the mistress is gone. She was just left in the bathroom. She probably went to commit a murder."

"Keep an eye on the movements of the good man and the little boy, and call Gabumon if needed. I'm going to catch that banshee!"

After Lin Chen finished speaking, he walked out of the stairwell and knocked on the door of room 102.

The door opened quickly, and the girl with bangs was the one who opened it.

As soon as she saw Lin Chen, she said with a grin, "Handsome, you didn't start following us as soon as you got off the car, did you?"

"Hey, handsome, are you here to see Xiaotong?" one of the girls with red lips said, running happily into the house.

"Wait a minute!" Lin Chen immediately called out to the girl with red lips.

Upon hearing this, the girl with red lips stopped and looked at Lin Chen with a puzzled expression.

Lin Chen waved to them, signaling them to stand behind him, and then released magic to summon the Guilmon.

The moment they saw Guilmon, the two girls immediately realized Lin Chen's identity, and the look of doubt in their eyes deepened.

Arriving at the door of the room the red-lipped girl had just tried to enter, Lin Chen waved his hand, signaling Guilmon to go up and check.

Guilmon nodded and opened the door with a punch.

Looking into the bedroom, a scaly female monster was grabbing a short-haired girl and slashing open her wrists with her claws.

"Xiaotong!" The girl with bangs and the girl with red lips also came to the door. Seeing the scene before them, they instinctively exclaimed, "What kind of monster is this?!"

"Gilmon, take him down!" Lin Chen shouted.

Upon hearing this, Guilmon flashed forward and charged straight at her. The Scaled Banshee, realizing she had been discovered, jumped out of the window without looking back, with Guilmon close behind.

"Take her back to the school's treatment room right away!"

Lin Chen gave an order to the girl with bangs and then chased after her to the window. He found that the scaly banshee's claws could actually stick to the vertical high wall, and it nimbly jumped between the two buildings. The Guilmon could only rely on its powerful jumping ability to barely keep up with it and avoid being completely overtaken.

"Lingling, I've rescued the banshee's target. The banshee has temporarily escaped, and Guilmon is in pursuit, but I suspect I'll likely lose her; that banshee is too agile." After saying this, Lin Chen continued, "How's the situation on your end?"

"Things are fine, nothing unusual for now," Lingling replied, but her voice soon became anxious, tinged with fear: "Something's wrong! That man is shedding his skin too!"

"Gabumon, charge in!" Lin Chen ordered remotely.

With a loud bang, the door was kicked open, startling the boy who was watching Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf. He stared in horror at Gabumon, who had suddenly burst in through the door.

"Dad! There's a monster!" the boy cried out, instinctively pleading for help from his father.

"Cry, cry, cry, all you do is cry! I hate it when you cry!" A strangely pronounced male growl echoed from the room, sounding utterly inhuman. "Stop it! The monster you're talking about is me! Hehehe~"

The man pushed open the door and, like a walking corpse, tore off his clothes and skin piece by piece.

The skin peeled off as it was torn open, revealing the sticky scales inside.

"Two monsters!" The boy stared at the horrifying scene before him, his vision blurred, and he fainted from fright.

Upon hearing this, the molting male demon finally realized how the boy knew he had turned into a monster when he was in the room and the door wasn't even open.

Before he could figure it out, a figure rushed towards him and slammed him against the wall, almost making it impossible for him to get out.

Looking at Gabumon standing in front of him, the male demon was recalling that when he came out of the room, there was indeed a figure standing at the door, but because his face was peeling, his eyes were not very clear.

"Meddlesome fellow!" The molting demon made a strange sound. It turned its head, and the skin on its face finally peeled off completely, revealing a pair of triangular eyes staring fiercely at Gabumon.

Gabumon approached Shedgment again and punched it. However, Shedgment's scales seemed to have strong defensive capabilities. Despite Gabumon's attack, it was not seriously injured and continued to glare fiercely at Gabumon.

"Watch out, Gabumon!" Lingling's startled cry suddenly came from the phone.

The next second, the Scaled Banshee suddenly rushed out of the bathroom and reached out a claw towards Gabumon.
