Chapter 43
The Weasleys
Chapter 43 The Weasleys
King's Cross Station was as crowded and noisy as ever. Many people with all sorts of expressions and carrying all sorts of things walked through the station. The hum of trains stopping and the announcements from the platform could be heard from time to time, making it particularly noisy.
Avada Kendavia was now one of the people in the station. He was only pulling a small suitcase, and nothing else, unlike the other wizarding students who carried cages of owls or other strange objects that would attract attention. He moved through the station skillfully, and in no time he arrived at the space between platforms nine and ten.
After a year of studying spatial magic and vanishing cabinets, as well as researching Floo Powder during the summer vacation, the spatial magic in the platform was no longer completely incomprehensible to him; at least it was traceable. At this time last year, he couldn't understand the magical structure at all and had to poke it before daring to walk over.
"We arrived too early; we didn't run into the Weasleys or Harry Potter."
He shook his head inwardly. Although it didn't have much impact, it was still somewhat regrettable that he hadn't been able to personally participate in the historical process. So he could only take out his ticket, clutch it in his hand, and walk straight towards the entrance of Station Nine and Three-Quarters...
"Ken!"
Two almost identical voices rang out at the same time, leaving Avada momentarily stunned and unable to realize that two people were calling him.
"Hey, Fred, George? You're here too?"
He turned around, smiled and greeted the two identical red-haired men, and then saw a group of people with the same red hair appear behind them.
Throughout the school year, Avada and the Weasley twins maintained a good relationship—aside from earning him the nickname "Muggsy Magus," mainly because the two often missed dinner due to detention and could only sneak into the kitchen to grab a bite before curfew. This period also happened to be Avada's busiest time, and he frequently returned to the common room just before curfew. This resulted in him encountering the twins far more frequently than any other Gryffindor…
Of course, this is also related to the fact that every time Avada met the twins, he would go to the kitchen with them to eat something. If he had enough time and was in the mood, he would occasionally cook a meal for them himself, and so they became familiar with each other over time.
Let me introduce myself.
Fred turned to his family, pointed at Avada, and said solemnly, "This is Ken, 'the one whose name can't even be mentioned!'"
"Throughout Hogwarts, from Headmaster Dumbledore down to the first-year students, no one can reveal his real name. In fact, his real name has always been a secret to the students, supposedly ordered to be kept hidden by Dumbledore himself!"
"Wow, that's cool."
A murmur of admiration rippled through the Weasley family.
"And as a token of gratitude for taking care of our meals throughout last year..."
Seeing Fred pause, George immediately chimed in, "We prefer to call him, You No Full!" (Note)
"Pfft! Cough cough cough..."
Avada couldn't hold back and choked on his own saliva, coughing for ages—how did they even come up with such an outrageous nickname?!
"Who addresses someone like that?"
A short, plump woman gave George a slap on the back of the head, then smiled at Avada: "Nice to meet you, Ken. I'm Molly Weasley, the mother of these two...thank you for taking care of them last year."
"You're too kind, you're too kind..."
In order to buy time for Harry Potter's arrival and prevent the Savior from being blocked outside the platform in his first year, Avada took the opportunity to strike up a conversation with the Weasleys outside the station.
"Percy Weasley, fifth year, Gryffindor prefect, nice to meet you."
A tall, red-haired wizard stepped forward to shake his hand: "If Fred and George dare to bother you at school, just tell me, and I'll take care of them!"
"Hey, how can you call this annoying? You have no idea how much effort we put into coming up with this title..."
Fred and George tried to protest, but slowly shrank back under Mrs. Weasley's intimidating gaze.
"cough."
George's expression turned serious, and he reached out and pulled another red-haired child out of the crowd: "This is my brother, Ronald Weasley, you can just call him Ron—he just started at Hogwarts this year."
"And this is Ginny, our youngest sister. She should be starting school next year..."
He was about to continue introducing a little girl when he was interrupted by a voice that suddenly came from the side: "Excuse me?"
The group turned around and saw Harry Potter looking anxious because he couldn't find the platform.
"You're here too?"
Avada smiled at Harry: "Can't find the platform?"
"Ken? Ah, yes, I don't know how to get there..."
Harry paused for a moment when he suddenly saw the familiar face, then his face lit up with joy.
"That's perfect. We're just about to enter the station, so let me give you a demonstration. Watch carefully—Mrs. Weasley, everyone, I'm going in now. See you later."
After saying that, he gracefully stepped into the pillar and disappeared from everyone's sight.
That's it.
Mrs. Weasley smiled kindly at Harry, then turned to her children: "Percy, you come too."
……
Regardless of whether Harry would jog into the platform as before and then crash into something hard in the second term, or walk in gracefully like Avada so that he wouldn't be so embarrassed when Dobby blocked his way in the next term—anyway, Avada had already witnessed the historical milestone to his heart's content. So after waiting for the Weasleys to come in, he greeted them, pulled his luggage onto the train, and started looking for his compartment.
"Hey, Cedric?"
After walking along the train for a while, Avada saw Cedric sitting alone in his compartment reading a book, so he went up to greet him.
"Long time no see, Ken."
Cedric looked up, smiled, and nodded at him. "Are you looking for a private room? Would you like to sit here?"
"I'm glad you don't mind."
Avada walked into the box somewhat unexpectedly—he thought Cedric was waiting for Qiu.
"How was your holiday?"
"Fantastic! My dad took me to Bulgaria to watch their Quidditch league live. And wow, you wouldn't believe it, there's this amazing Seeker from Bulgaria named Viktor Krum, and I heard he's still a student. He's absolutely the best Seeker I've ever seen! You didn't see that amazing Lonski feint, Merlin behold, it's hard to believe he's only a little older than me..."
Once the topic of Quidditch came up, Cedric became so excited that he talked nonstop for a while before finally calming down and taking a sip of water to compose himself.
"Oh, sorry, I just talked to myself. How's it going on your end?"
"Not bad either."
Seeing that Cedric still seemed somewhat reluctant to leave the exciting match, Avada casually brought up the topic of Quidditch, even though he wasn't particularly interested: "Thanks to Tobalon, I got to try out Nimbus's new product, the 'Nimbus 2000,' and I must say, it's incredibly fast and comfortable. Not only that, I also happened to witness the birth of the next broom, the Nimbus 2001..."
Cedric's eyes widened when he heard him mention experiencing Nimbus 2000, but he managed to refrain from interrupting him. Avada, amused, quickly stopped talking, allowing Cedric to express his excitement and envy.
"Are you guys talking about the new broom?"
Just as Cedric was chasing after Avada asking about the feel of the Nimbus 2000, the box door opened again, and Baron Shafik stood outside: "Can I join you?"
"Welcome!"
Cedric gestured for him to come in—after a year of getting to know each other, almost everyone knew that Baron was a rather easy-going Slytherin, even able to have normal conversations with Gryffindors, and they all had a pretty good impression of him.
Note: "Mysterious Man" is a pun on "You know who" and "Foodie" is a pun on "You no full," a homophone in both Chinese and English.
