Chapter 23

Meng Ziyi, the Beauty in Ancient Costume

"If you want to see it, then take a look," Li Han chuckled upon hearing this.

"Smooth-talking," Meng Ziyi chuckled, keeping his eyes fixed on the road ahead as he continued driving.

"Let's not eat out, let's eat at your school instead," Li Han said.

"Going to the Beijing Film Academy?" Meng Ziyi looked at Li Han with a puzzled expression.

Why go to the Beijing Film Academy?

"Let's see what major changes have taken place at Beijing Film Academy over the years," Li Han said with a smile.

"What changes could there be?" Meng Ziyi smiled.

"Could it be that compared to the Shanghai Theatre Academy, it's worlds apart?"

Li Han rolled down the car window, rested one hand on it, and looked outside. The wind from the car blew on his face, giving him a refreshing feeling.

"Are you doing alright at the Shanghai Theatre Academy?" Meng Ziyi asked, glancing at Li Han.

"Ah... I'm currently living with a girl," Li Han said casually.

"What!?" Upon hearing this, Meng Ziyi stepped on the gas pedal, turned her head, and her beautiful face showed a bewildered expression, her big eyes staring at him.

Are you living with someone?

"Actually, it's not really living together; we each have our own rooms," Li Han said, looking at Meng Ziyi.

"Is that a shared apartment? Why would you share an apartment with a woman?" Meng Ziyi frowned.

"It's not a shared apartment; I pay the rent all by myself," Li Han said, shrugging.

"..." Meng Ziyi stared blankly at Li Han, not knowing what to say for a moment. Then she took a deep breath and said.

"Is she your new girlfriend?"

"Hey." Li Han smiled at Meng Ziyi.

"And what about me!" Meng Ziyi pointed to herself with her slender finger.

"Hey!" Li Han continued to laugh.

"What are you laughing at?" Meng Ziyi glared at Li Han with displeasure.

"You're quick to pick up where you left off. How long have we been broken up? How long have you been at the Shanghai Theatre Academy? How long have we been out of touch? And didn't I just contact you? You, you..."

"That girl..." Li Han said, looking at Meng Ziyi, who was somewhat incoherent.

"Her name is Tian Xiwei."

"I don't care what she's called," Meng Ziyi said, dissatisfied.

"I recently started a studio, and Tian Xiwei is the first girl I signed," Li Han said.

"?" Meng Ziyi frowned and looked at Li Han with a puzzled expression.

"You...you want to start a talent agency?"

"Yes." Li Han nodded.

Meng Ziyi sized Li Han up and down, then sneered, "You? You tricked that girl into coming here, didn't you? She probably ended up losing both her body and her money."

"Then you've really misjudged me," Li Han said, reaching for his phone and opening Douyin (TikTok).

"What are you doing?" Meng Ziyi asked, puzzled.

"Look." Li Han placed his phone in front of Meng Ziyi, and the phone was playing Tian Xiwei's first video.

"I've seen this video before. It's incredibly popular, and it's really unbelievable. She went from an ordinary person to an internet celebrity in one go," Meng Ziyi said, looking down at the video.

"Check the name," Li Han said, tapping his phone screen.

Upon hearing this, Meng Ziyi tapped the profile picture and glanced at the account name... 'Xi Wei'.

She thought for a moment about the name Li Han had just mentioned… 'Tian Xiwei.'

She blinked, her not-so-bright brain working for a moment.

"Don't tell me that these two videos of hers are your doing."

"Hmm... how could it not be?" Li Han shook his head slightly and smiled.

"Don't joke around, do you even have a brain?" Meng Ziyi looked up at Li Han, expressing disbelief.

"Hmm... how can it not count?" Li Han continued with a slight smile.

"..." Meng Ziyi looked at Li Han expressionlessly.

"Try being sarcastic again. And what's with that expression? It's so affected, who taught you that?"

"All you do is attack me." Li Han pouted and put down his phone.

"Do you know why I came to Yanjing to see you?" Li Han said, looking at Meng Ziyi's face.

"Why?" Meng Ziyi blinked.

"After all, you're my first love, and I still want to give you a hand," Li Han said.

"What are you saying? You're still my first love," Meng Ziyi couldn't help but say, her brows furrowing slightly.

"How do you plan to help me? Just like this girl, whose success was purely due to luck?"

"Drive, drive," Li Han said, pointing ahead.

Seeing this, Meng Ziyi continued driving the car slowly, and she turned her head to look at Li Han.

"How do you plan to help me?"

Nowadays, Meng Ziyi has no fans, but she has quite a few haters, especially those from the Korean entertainment industry, whose influence is still very strong. However, this trend will gradually subside after next year.

"Ziyi, don't you think you're very suitable for period dramas?" Li Han said.

"It's alright." Meng Ziyi recalled the time when she was in the movie "God of War Zhao Zilong" and she had outshone the female lead, Lin Yoona. She was severely criticized by Lin Yoona's fans.

"I'll talk about it later," Li Han said, secretly making plans in his mind.

In 2016, the traditional Chinese style cosplay community was really small. Nowadays, there are very few people online who cosplay in ancient costumes; most of them cosplay in anime and manga.

Meng Ziyi is indeed particularly suited to period costumes. If she were to film a video wearing a period costume, accompanied by a classical Chinese song with a strong sense of destiny, she might very well become a hit.

Even if it doesn't become popular, it doesn't matter, I still have a Plan B.

Meng Ziyi glanced at Li Han. She wanted to ask him more about Tian Xiwei, but seeing that he was thinking, she hesitated and didn't say anything.

...They were just living together, but living together doesn't mean she was Li Han's girlfriend.

Soon, Meng Ziyi drove to the Beijing Film Academy.

"The timing of your arrival is quite coincidental; it's right around lunchtime," Meng Ziyi said, turning to look at Li Han.

"How about we go out to eat?"

Li Han got out of the car, stretched, and looked around.

"Alright, just eat whatever you like."

Watching Li Han skillfully walk towards the cafeteria, Meng Ziyi pursed her lips and said, "Feed him."

Li Han turned to look at Meng Ziyi, who then stepped forward and gestured, "Hand."

Upon hearing this, Li Han raised his hand, and Meng Ziyi immediately stepped forward and grabbed his arm.

"Heh." Li Han didn't say anything when he saw this, and turned around and continued walking.

Seeing that Li Han didn't say anything, Meng Ziyi's lips curled up slightly.

"After we finish eating, can you drive me around Beijing for a bit, find a period costume shop, and then rent a photography studio?" Li Han said.

"Are there any costume shops in Beijing?" Meng Ziyi asked doubtfully. If Li Han wants to take photos, then let him. Buying a costume and renting a studio won't cost more than tens of thousands.

"Yes, I found it online..." Li Han turned to look at Meng Ziyi. Before he could finish speaking, a figure flashed past him and bumped into him. It was a female student.

"I'm sorry." She quickly brushed her hair aside and apologized.

"Yeah, it's nothing." Li Han turned his head and smiled casually, then turned back to look at Meng Ziyi.

"I'm here..." He paused for a moment, then turned his head sharply to look at the girl's back as she walked away.

Wait a minute, this girl is... Zhou Ye?
