Chapter 75

Fusion?

Having just experienced the devastating battle of the Golden and Silver Dragon Kings, which lasted only a day, Captain Sato should have been in a period of rest and recovery. However, after hearing Sakata's report, even Captain Sato couldn't help but feel a little tired.

As soon as he strode into the command room, he went straight to the core issue and asked in a deep voice:

"Is the Dragon's Might ship ready for combat?"

Upon hearing the sound, Sakata, the team member analyzing the monitoring data, looked up and quickly swiped his tactical tablet to retrieve the overall status of the Dragon Might and the pilot's compatibility records. After reviewing the backend data, he could only shake his head helplessly and said in a solemn tone:

"Report to the captain: The Dragon Might is in good working order and can start normally, ready for combat."

However, there is a fatal problem: in the entire CEA, only Nagasawa and Shizuka have completed the Dragon's Might-specific adaptation training. Apart from them, no one else is capable of piloting the mech in combat.

Upon hearing this, Captain Sato fell silent instantly.

Captain Sato knew that in yesterday's battle, the Dragon Might withstood the heavy lightning strikes of the Golden Dragon King and endured several shocks. Nagasawa and Shizuka were under extremely high stress throughout the battle and are still under monitoring and recuperating in the top-floor treatment room.

In other words, the strongest combat vessel, the Dragon Might, can be deployed in battle, but no one can pilot it. Isn't that the same as not being able to deploy it at all?

A dark look flashed across Captain Sato's eyes. He suppressed his anxiety, prioritizing the safety of his team members, and did not insist on sending the mechs into battle. He continued to press for information on the next line of defense:

"Let's put the Dragon's Might ship on hold for now. Can we quickly rebuild and prepare for war?"

Sakata paused, staring at the defensive report on the screen, his voice filled with helplessness:

"I'm sorry, Captain..."

In yesterday's interdimensional war, almost all of our forward defenses across the entire territory were destroyed. Now, only twenty-four hours later, the damaged equipment hasn't even been completely cleared, and the fortifications cannot be rebuilt quickly. Our current ground defense system, even if it were to be rebuilt, would be far from meeting the standards required for interdimensional warfare.

After finishing speaking, Sakata raised his hand to bring up two sets of overlapping spatial energy maps, projected the tablet data onto the main screen, and continued to report the key anomalies:

"Moreover, a major anomaly has been detected. The residual spacetime energy and the Rainbow Magic Realm energy are autonomously merging. However, data analysis shows that this is not the result of natural spatial evolution. There is an energy actively driving the two spaces to merge."

"Is there some kind of energy driving it?"

Sato's brows furrowed deeply, his unease amplified.

Since the Dragon's Might officially took off, a series of strange events have occurred. Monsters have suddenly appeared, and unknown energies have frequently emerged. All these anomalies seem to be controlled by an unseen hand in the dark.

"What kind of energy is it?" Sato asked in a deep voice.

Sakata retrieved in-depth source tracing data, each word carrying weight:

"We cannot pinpoint the source or analyze the properties, but we can be 100% certain that this behind-the-scenes catalytic energy is completely of the same origin as the unknown energy that initially opened the spacetime rift."

"It's that again..."

Sato felt a tightness in his scalp as the pressure that had been building up for days suddenly surged into his heart.

Just as the atmosphere in the room was tense and heavy, Xiong Er, who had been sitting silently in front of the computer, staring intently at the high-frequency monitoring instrument, suddenly spoke up, his voice carrying a hint of urgent surprise:

"Captain! Look at the energy convergence point! These merging spatial energies are rapidly gathering! They... are condensing and taking shape!"

Almost the instant Xiong Er projected the image onto the giant light screen, everyone's eyes were instantly fixed on the giant light screen.

The originally scattered two-colored spatial energy is now collapsing inward at a visible speed, the boundaries are constantly tightening, and layers of energy barriers are forming a shape, eventually condensing into an enormous energy cocoon in mid-air.

Its entire body was a mixture of light and shadow, with surging internal and external energies, as if it were enveloping some terrifying being about to break out of its shell, quietly suspended in the interlayer of space, ready to unleash its power.

"All personnel continuously monitor and record the frequency of energy fluctuations and the speed of cocoon expansion without interruption for even a second."

After giving the order in a deep voice, Captain Sato turned and strode forward: "I will see the director immediately and discuss this matter with him in person."

The situation is urgent and cannot be delayed.

He strode out of the command room, but as soon as he stepped out the door, two figures with slightly unsteady steps came towards him.

Nagasawa and Shizuka stood at the door, supporting each other. Their complexions were still not good, and the fatigue from the battle lingered between their brows. Their bodies had not yet fully recovered, but their eyes were firm.

Sato paused, his mind immediately interrupted as he prepared to give an urgent report, his brows instantly hardening with sternness.

"What are you two doing here causing trouble instead of resting in the examination room?"

According to medical reports, the two need to rest in bed for at least three days to fully recover from the nerve damage caused by the electric shock, and are absolutely not allowed to return to the team early.

Faced with the captain's reprimand, the two team members did not back down at all.

Nagasawa took a deep breath, looked up and stared directly at Sato, his tone sincere yet stubborn:

"Captain, we're all fine and perfectly capable of carrying out combat missions. You know me; there are dangers everywhere outside, and you still have to go up and fight monsters. If you go to fight monsters while I can only watch, I simply can't sit still."

Shizuka immediately stepped forward and earnestly echoed:

"That's right, Captain. We are the pilots of the Dragon's Might, and we are CEA combat personnel. We are at the forefront of the battle, and we cannot retreat and rest alone."

As soon as they finished speaking, the two looked at each other, seeing the unwavering determination in each other's eyes. Then, they both looked at Sato and uttered the words from the bottom of their hearts:

"Moreover, every time a crisis comes, it is Ultraman Sirius who stands alone at the forefront."

We just fought alongside him; we should be considered his comrades-in-arms. As comrades, how can we let our comrade fight alone when danger comes?

These few words, though simple, are also very sincere.

Sato looked at the two young teammates in front of him who were clearly injured but still went forward without hesitation. Looking at their pale but stubborn faces, Sato's tense heartstrings finally began to loosen.

The harsh reprimand stuck in his throat, ultimately turning into a helpless sigh.

He stared at the two of them for a moment, and finally compromised and gave in:

"...Never mind."

You all go back to the examination room for a temporary check-up to stabilize your physical condition. I'll coordinate and report the details regarding your participation in the competition.

Upon hearing their captain's reassurance, Nagasawa and Shizuka's tense expressions instantly relaxed, their eyes shining brightly. They exchanged a glance and secretly revealed a smile.

In the distance, Yun Yu, whose eyes had become like stars, also saw everything.

"A cocoon?"
