Chapter 19
"Complete Enhancement Technique"
Following Ye Wei'an's words, Ai Lian began to have wild thoughts:
Just last night's events transformed her from a frail woman into someone capable of tearing blankets apart with her bare hands...
"Then... if I try a few more times, can I become as strong as Uncle Kane?" Ellen asked, clutching the corner of the blanket, her eyes glazed over.
"Of course, the more times you practice, the higher your agility and perception will become." Ye Wei'an suppressed a laugh and nodded with a stern expression.
"Then... what if we go even further?" Eileen's voice was so soft it was almost inaudible, her head almost buried in her chest. "I mean... what if... a real, complete... would that make me as powerful as you, young master?"
"Oh, if that's the case," Ye Weian leaned close to her ear and blew a breath, "you might awaken some special bloodline, and perhaps even directly touch the power of the fairy realm."
Ellen's heart was pounding. Although she didn't know what the young master meant by the "fairy realm," she was sure it was something very powerful.
She had already begun to imagine herself becoming an unparalleled master, with even the young master having no choice but to obediently accept her protection.
But I'm not the only one who wants to stay by the young master's side...
Thinking of this, she suddenly seemed to have made up her mind and looked up at Ye Weian.
That resolute expression suggested that a huge sacrifice had been made.
"Since this method is so effective... could we let Sister Lina enjoy it too? She always says she's frail and sickly. If Young Master could help her 'improve' her health, we could all protect him!"
"Ahem!"
Upon hearing this, Ye Wei'an couldn't help but burst out laughing.
"What are you laughing at, young master?"
Eileen was puzzled at first, but when she saw Ye Wei'an laughing, she realized that she had been tricked!
Realizing she had just been tricked into saying such explicit things, she was filled with shame and anger, and clenched her small fist, punching his chest: "Young Master! You...you bullied me!"
"Ouch!"
Ye Wei'an's joy turned to sorrow; he never expected to be punched directly at close range by a Lv.1 monk.
Of all professions, the monk is the most skilled in unarmed combat.
Ye Wei'an cried out in pain, grimacing.
Even with his improved physique, he couldn't help but feel a surge of blood and qi after being hit solidly in the chest by this blow.
"You...you're really pushing yourself! Are you trying to murder your master?"
Eileen was also startled.
She stared blankly at her fist, then at the red mark on Ye Weian's chest. The unfamiliar, explosive feeling filling her muscles made her realize that she had really become stronger. Her once weak arms now contained enough explosive power to defeat an adult man.
"Young Master! I'm so sorry! I...I didn't know..." She panicked and threw herself at him, her small hands frantically rubbing Ye Wei'an's chest. "Where does it hurt? Let me rub it for you! I really didn't mean to, I just..."
After recovering, Ye Wei'an looked at her, who seemed to wish she could take the blame for him, and his mischievous thoughts vanished.
He took the opportunity to put his arm around the girl's slender waist, stopped teasing her, but also had no intention of revealing the whole truth about the "system upgrade".
"Alright, stop crying." He put on a serious expression. "Actually, what I said just now wasn't entirely a joke... Of course, it has nothing to do with 'that kind of thing.' But I did use a special spell on you called [Complete Enhancement].
Eileen sniffled, tilted her head back, and stared at him intently.
"You know what? I did this because you're just too weak."
Ye Wei'an sighed, his eyes revealing just the right amount of worry and "deep affection." "The wilderness is not like Susar; danger lurks everywhere here. Even I can't guarantee I can protect you at all times. We'll probably be coming to places like this often in the future, so I must equip you with the ability to protect yourself."
As he spoke, he deliberately coughed again: "In order to forcibly improve your physical fitness, I consumed a lot of my primordial magic power last night. For the next month, I probably won't be able to use any decent high-level spells..."
"The price...is it really that high?" Eileen's heart clenched. The young master was willing to harm himself to make her stronger!
"Young Master, you...you're so good to me." She was so moved that she almost cried again.
"Who told you to be my personal maid?" Ye Wei'an forced a reassuring smile.
Once the girl had calmed down a bit, he solemnly instructed her, "Also, you must keep the matter of how you became stronger a secret."
He held a finger to her lips, his expression serious: "This kind of magic is quite astonishing to outsiders, and might even attract the covetous eyes of some ill-intentioned people. Not a single word must be revealed, not even to Kane and the others. This is a secret between the two of us, understand?"
"Understood! I swear!" Eileen nodded vigorously.
She believed every word Ye Wei'an said unconditionally—after all, she had indeed become stronger, and the young master did seem to have put in a tremendous amount of effort and energy.
She reached out and gently took Ye Wei'an's hand, pressing the back of his hand against her soft cheek, and said in an unprecedentedly earnest tone:
"Young Master, you've sacrificed so much for Eileen... All the power Eileen gained belongs to you. I will strive to be your sword, your shield. Anyone who wants to harm you must first step over my dead body!"
The girl's face still retained a hint of childishness, but her expression was resolute.
Seeing her earnest little face, Ye Wei'an's heart seemed to be gently touched.
It feels so good to be completely trusted and to have someone swear to protect you.
As a time traveler, it was only at this moment that he truly felt the warmth of this world.
"Silly girl," he chuckled, then pulled her into his arms.
Since they have sworn to protect the young master, they must naturally strive to hone their abilities.
After helping Ye Weian finish washing up, Ai Lian couldn't wait to crawl out of the tent.
The morning mist outside had not yet dissipated, and glistening dewdrops clung to the blades of grass. The girl took a deep breath and felt full of energy, every cell in her body leaping with joy.
"Good morning, Uncle Kane!" she greeted the knights who were busy at the edge of the camp with a cheerful smile.
Kane was sitting next to a flat rock, sharpening his sword with water from his water bag.
"Good morning, Miss Eileen." His voice was a little hoarse, and his gaze immediately fell on Ye Wei'an, who followed him out of the tent. He nodded, "Good morning, young master. Judging from your appearance... are you getting ready for your morning exercise?"
"She wanted to get some exercise, so I'm keeping her company," Ye Wei'an said with a smile, pointing to the eager little maid.
Eileen stuck out her tongue a little shyly, then stood still in the open space in front of the camp.
She took a deep breath and, following the "instincts" that suddenly appeared in her mind, assumed a calm and harmonious starting stance.
The next moment, a completely different power burst forth from her originally delicate body.
She displayed solid fighting skills even with her bare hands: sometimes she leaped up as lightly as a cat, her fingertips making a subtle sharp sound as they brushed through the air; sometimes she twisted her body and lowered her waist, her simple side kicks drawing clean arcs in the air with great power.
Then, she drew a small silver knife from her waist—she had carried it with her ever since she saved the young master's life with it yesterday.
The knife in her hand seemed to come alive: stabbing, picking, slicing, and dragging... every movement was simple and direct, and her skill was so adept that she didn't seem like a delicate maid who had never held a sword before, but rather like a professional assassin who had been immersed in the shadows for many years.
After obtaining the [Monk] class, she immediately mastered hand-to-hand combat and the use of various weapons.
Kane, who had been absentmindedly sharpening his sword, stopped what he was doing at some point, his eyes involuntarily drawn to the girl's movements.
"That way of punching and kicking...that skillful swordsmanship...this, this really is Eileen?" Kane rubbed his eyes, utterly incredulous. "Eileen, when did you learn this? This isn't something you can just pick up casually!"
This question stumped Eileen.
She opened her mouth, her little face turning slightly red.
She didn't want to lie to the respected knight, but she also remembered her young master's instruction to keep it a secret. In the end, she could only utter a few vague "um... that..." while her eyes darted around to Ye Weian.
Ye Wei'an had no choice but to step forward and take over: "Back in Susar, she learned a few moves from the academy's guards. The child has some talent, but she's too timid."
At this point, he glanced at the girl and said helplessly, "She's clearly very capable, but when she was attacked yesterday, all she knew to do was hide in the car. That's why I let her out today to stretch her legs and build up her courage, so she won't be like this again in the future."
Kane was filled with awe, and his opinion of the young master rose even higher.
He realized once again that this illegitimate young master was far more unfathomable than he had imagined.
Not only is he skilled himself, but even his maid is a hidden expert.
