Chapter 2

Character Panel

In the center of the screen is his own 3D image, with the background showing the carriage in the woods at this moment. Below is an option to "Edit Appearance".

On the left, there are four options in a vertical column: [Race], [Occupation], [Background], and [Attributes].

The right side shows the detailed character cards:

[Name: Ye Wei'an & Xia Xing]

[Level]: LV.0 (15/0)

Race: Human

[Occupation]: To be selected

【属性】:力量10、敏捷11、体质10、智力12、感知11、魅力12

[Specialty]: Battlefield Spellcaster

[Spells]: 0-level Tricks - Light, Lesser Illusion, Magical Tricks

Ye Wei'an was stunned for a moment, then realized—wasn't this the character creation screen of Baldur's Gate 3?

He traveled through time while playing that game.

Based on the original owner's memories, this is clearly the world where the game takes place. It's just unclear whether the timeline is before or after *Boatman v Superman 3*.

But regardless, if this system is the same as in the game, he will immediately obtain a profession, and even a level 1 profession, the current crisis is nothing.

But upon closer inspection, he discovered that the interface was not exactly the same as the one in the game.

For example, the three options—[Race], [Attributes], and [Edit Appearance]—are all grayed out. [Race] is fixed at [Human], and the latter two cannot be selected at all.

That's understandable.

After all, this isn't a real game. In reality, he has an identity, acquaintances, and if he suddenly changes his appearance or race, there's simply no way to explain it.

It's a pity he can't customize his face to be handsome again; he originally really wanted to experience what it's like to "make a living off his looks."

After reviewing his attributes, Ye Wei'an finally understood why he was still just a magic apprentice despite years of hard work in this world.

Looking at the other party's six attributes, they are basically at the level of an ordinary person, with nothing that is beyond the ordinary.

Even the most outstanding intelligence is only slightly better than the average person's 10 points.

With 12 points of intelligence, you can get into a top university on Earth, but that's about it.

With 12 points in Intelligence, four years of study at the Battle Mage Academy, mastering three spells and the [Battlefield Caster] feat, the original owner could be considered quite diligent.

[Battlefield Spellcaster]: You know how to cast spells in combat. Your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma are increased by 1. You can cast spells while holding a weapon. Your spellcasting is not easily interrupted. When an enemy leaves your melee range, you can reflexively cast spells on them.

As an academy focused on training practical spellcasters, battlefield spellcasting skills are considered a foundational course for the Battle Mage Academy.

This spell allows him to cast spells steadily under various chaotic conditions, which is very helpful in the current situation.

Putting aside his distracting thoughts, Ye Wei'an first clicked on the [Career] option.

Twelve basic professions are presented before you:

Barbarian, Bard, Priest, Druid, Warrior, Monk, Paladin, Ranger, Wanderer, Warlock, Spellcaster, Mage.

Each profession has several sub-professions.

He first excluded barbarians, warriors, and nomads; melee cannon fodder and such, whoever wanted to be one could be one.

He then crossed out priests, sorcerers, monks, and paladins—as a modern man, he couldn't bear to entrust his fate to any god, devil, or harsh oath.

The remaining choices are bards, knights-errant, sorcerers, and mages.

Ye Wei'an thought for a moment and then ruled out the first two.

In his previous life, he was a test-taker in a small town from childhood to adulthood, and he studied software engineering in college—he was really not used to spending all his time in the woods or singing and dancing in public.

Ultimately, his gaze fell upon warlocks and mages.

Both are arcane spellcasters, which aligns with his preferences and also fits the original owner's experience studying at the Battle Mage Academy. Even if he suddenly displays related abilities, it won't seem too abrupt to others.

In theory, he prefers the monk.

Mages are the most typical arcane spellcasters, relying on intelligence to cast spells and possessing the widest selection of spells and the most comprehensive means of countering spells.

But as if by some strange twist of fate, his finger landed on the [Warlock] category.

If a sorcerer is a scholar who creates miracles through wisdom and knowledge, then a magician is a lucky one who relies on bloodline and talent.

The blood of a dragon, the touch of a demon, the blessing of an elf, or even a single drink from a mysterious spring can ignite an innate spark of magic.

A warlock's spellcasting depends on charm.

Depending on the source of their power, warlocks have developed many bloodlines: the [Dragon Bloodline] derived from dragons, the [Divine Soul] bestowed by the gods, the [Shadow Magic] inherited from the Fallen Underworld, and so on.

Of course, most of the options are grayed out.

It seems that the Xia Xing family has neither an ancestor who dared to seduce a dragon, nor has it ever received any special favor from any deity.

Ye Wei'an's gaze fell on the only two options: [Wild Magic] and [Cursefire Sorcerer].

【Wild Magic】Originating from the wild surge of chaotic magic.

Each spell cast by a Wild Warlock can trigger various random effects—with good luck, they might instantly heal wounds or even cast high-level spells out of thin air; with bad luck, they might turn themselves into a sheep or blast a fireball into their own forehead.

It might be entertaining in a game, but in real life it could actually kill someone.

That leaves only one option.

[Cursed Fire Sorcerer]: Your innate power originates from the very source of the magic network, a rare talent known as "Cursed Fire." The echoes of this primal magic constantly resonate within you. With this talent, you can burn enemies, heal allies, and even devour enemy spells.

This sub-profession does not rely on a specific bloodline or miracle; it stems purely from the awakening of personal talent, which is perfect for Ye Weian's current "blank slate" situation.

In terms of prestige, the Fire Sorcerer is far superior to the likes of the Dragon Vein Sorcerer, Wild Sorcerer, and Holy Soul Sorcerer—it touches upon the very essence of magic.

There are no more than twenty recorded users of the Cursed Fire in Faerûn, most of whom were chosen by the goddess of magic.

The power of the Fire Mage is worthy of this rarity.

It not only combines attack and healing, but can also restore spell points by absorbing enemy spells, greatly enhancing its super magic abilities, making it powerful and versatile.

The Warlock class itself doesn't lack damage output, and the Fire Warlock is a very good enhancement.

Ye Wei'an made his choice without hesitation.

The level 1 [Cursefire Sorcerer] grants him the ability [Magic Absorption] and a 0-ring trick [Cursefire Flame].

[Magic Absorption]: When you are damaged by magic, you can absorb some of the energy and reduce the damage by a small amount.

This ability is very strong against spellcasters, but it's completely useless against a bunch of bandits.

[Cursed Flame]: Can be cast without preparation. Summons a beam of arcane flame from the sky to scorch enemies; this flame is considered both radiant and fire damage. The spell damage increases as your casting level increases to 5, 11, and 17.

As a damage spell, [Cursed Flame] is quite overpowered.

First, it requires no preparation and can be released simply by raising your hand; second, it possesses both light and fire attributes, resulting in a wide attack range; and finally, its attack appears out of thin air, without a trajectory, making it extremely difficult to dodge or block.

Compared to conventional damage spells like [Flame Arrow] and [Cold Ray], [Cursed Flame] is far superior.

In addition, becoming a 1st-level warlock also grants four 0-level tricks and two 1-level spells.

For magic tricks, he chose:

[Strike First]: Gain a momentary magical insight, allowing your next weapon attack to be a perfect strike. Through this trick, even an ordinary person who has never held a knife before can severely injure a well-trained soldier.

[Mage's Hand]: Summons an invisible magical hand to assist in actions; a very useful trick.

[Friendship Spell]: Temporarily makes the target regard the caster as a friend, which can be used for post-battle interrogation.

【Four Elements Method】: Creates or manipulates small amounts of the four elements: air, earth, water, and fire. For example, dig up a small piece of land, create a strong wind, or make a pot of water. It has little direct destructive power, but its uses are very wide.

For his first-level spells, he chose [Mage Armor] and [Silver Whisper].

[Mage Armor] can generate an invisible layer of magical armor, which can save your life in critical moments.

【Silver Light Whisper】can disrupt the enemy's mind, turning their momentary hesitation into encouragement for your side. It combines offense and defense and is an old-school, overpowered spell.

With the addition of the ranged attack [Cursed Flame], he now possesses melee attack, ranged attack, control, defense, and support capabilities, making him a well-rounded fighter.

This is also one of the benefits of the system's point allocation.

Normally, a warlock's spells are automatically awakened, and what spells they get is entirely a matter of luck. It's common to get a combination of all damage, all support, or completely incomprehensible spells, and it's almost impossible to put together such a practical spell list.

After selecting his class, he immediately looked at the bonuses provided by the [race].

Race: Human

[Racial Traits]:

Attribute bonus: Select any two different attributes and add 1.

Specialization: Gain a specialization of your choice.

In terms of attribute bonuses, one point should definitely be allocated to Charisma, and the other point to Constitution.

Preserving his life was the priority; he valued his life very much.

There are many specializations to choose from, but considering that the original owner's attributes were too low, Ye Wei'an prioritized specializations that could increase charm.

Among several useful feats such as [Spellcaster], [Telepathy], [Psychic Power], and [Leadership Proof], Ye Wei'an chose [Telepathy].

[Telepathy]: You know how to cast spells in combat. Your Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma increase by 1. You can communicate telepathically with nearby creatures, provided they can understand your language. You have mastered the 2nd-circle spell [Detect Thoughts].

His telepathic abilities allow him to coordinate with his teammates on the noisy battlefield, and his mind detection is an amazing interrogation skill.

He naturally chose Charm as the attribute bonus.

With the added bonus from [Battlefield Spellcaster], his Charisma attribute increases by another 2.

Finally, there's the [Background] option.

The so-called "background" reflects the added value brought by the character's social identity.

Among so many options, Ye Wei'an only had two choices: [Noble] and [Wise Man].

The term "noble" refers to his birth, while "wise man" refers to his experience at the Mage Academy.

Choosing the [Sage] option allows him to select more spells, but the [Noble] option provides an attribute bonus to Charisma.

After a brief struggle, Ye Wei'an chose the latter.

In terms of attribute allocation, he again gave +2 to Charisma and +1 to Intelligence.

After selecting the last option, Ye Wei'an's 3D image on the interface was completely different.

The once helpless little figure is now half-floating in place, surrounded by blue and white flames, exuding the aura of a powerful sorcerer.

A pop-up window appears in the center of the panel:

[Character creation complete. Exit the current screen?]

It's time to get back to reality.

Ye Wei'an took a deep breath and mentally pressed "Yes".

The gray world suddenly shattered.
