Chapter 1

Head of Public Information

London, July 1991.

As night deepened, the Ministry of Magic, located beneath Whitehall, was brightly lit.

Belvina Black II sat in her office, her face so dark it looked like it was about to drip water.

On the large desk in front of him, a copy of "The Prophet's Evening Post" lay flat, the author of which was a newcomer who seemed to have appeared out of nowhere.

At that moment, Belvina longed to rush into Diagon Alley, grab the newspaper editor by the collar, and demand to know how he dared to publish such an article that defamed the Ministry of Magic.

Who gave him the courage?

Fish Leong hasn't sung "Courage" yet?

But Belvina couldn't do that; as a Ministry of Magic official, breaking the law would be wrong.

She could only calm herself down by confessing her mistakes, regretting why she had traveled into Harry Potter and why she had become the head of the Public Information Service.

That's right, Belvina Black was also a member of the transmigrator army.

She originally lived in a major Eastern country in the 21st century. Just as she was about to graduate and become a proud corporate slave, she stumbled upon a stroke of luck in a physical sense and inexplicably time-traveled.

He wakes up in the body of a girl at number twelve Grimmauld Place—the ancestral home of the Black family.

The Black family was in complete disarray at that time.

The second son, Regulus Black, who was expected to inherit the family business, suddenly disappeared, and Orion Black, an important member of the family, also died some time later.

Taking advantage of the unexpected events that befell his father and brother, the quack calmly established himself and gained a foothold.

Even if one's personality and habits differ from the original owner's, one can use the excuse of "the severe blow caused a drastic change in temperament" to cover up the past.

During this chaotic period, the time traveler finally figured out where he was.

The person involved expressed deep regret.

I regret that I shouldn't have scoffed at Harry Potter, a young adult novel, and I regret that I didn't read the whole thing and memorize it. I regret it so much that I wish I could try my luck again in the physical world.

The only saving grace is that Belvina is not entirely ignorant of this magical world.

Despite the overwhelming influence of later generations' self-media and marketing accounts, she still knew the general direction of the story.

She knew that Harry Potter was the protagonist of the era, and that Voldemort, lurking in the darkness, would one day return and be completely defeated.

But how exactly the boy who survived defeated the Dark Lord, I'm sorry, I don't know, I don't understand, I'm not clear.

And so, the bewildered transmigrator was forced to begin a new chapter in his life, and secretly resolved to survive and not be sent away, and try to lie down until the finale.

Belvina first returned to Hogwarts to continue her studies. After graduating, she traveled the world to various countries until her mother (Wolbugar Black) fell seriously ill, at which point she returned to London and joined the Ministry of Magic six months later.

By 1991, Belvina was already an advisor to the Minister of Magic and the head of the Public Information Office, making the position of Minister no longer out of reach.

If you can become a minister for a term and then retire as a minister, you can receive a very generous pension!

Boom boom boom!

The sudden knocking sounded especially loud in the dead of night.

After obtaining Belvina's permission, a tired-looking and haggard Ministry of Magic employee pushed open the door and entered.

He said, "The press conference is all ready and can begin at any time."

……

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Magic's magnificent hall was bustling with noise.

Dozens of male and female wizards gathered in the open space in front of the Magic Brothers Fountain, chattering about what had happened earlier that day, their buzzing voices louder than hundreds of ducks.

Betty Braithwaite, a new reporter for the Daily Prophet, stood on tiptoe and looked around. It was her first time at the Ministry of Magic, and she was filled with curiosity about everything there.

After a while, Miss Braithwaite seemed to suddenly remember something, and her expression became somewhat flustered.

She nervously asked her companion, "I heard that the head of the Public Information Service is a very difficult person, is that true?"

A photographer from the Daily Prophet, a short male wizard, responded without looking up while continuing to fiddle with his black camera.

He said helplessly, "Believe me, Betty, you don't want to see her."

With that, the photographer put down his camera, straightened it, and continued with a serious expression, "You'd better start praying like I do, praying that we won't have made a wasted trip tonight because of her."

As the photographer spoke, he interlaced his fingers and began to pray devoutly.

Seeing his senior colleague being so serious, Braithwaite, still a newcomer, became even more nervous, his middle finger unconsciously crossing over his index finger.

Before the old and new duo from the Daily Prophet could finish their prayers, a chorus of sighs rose from the crowd around them.

Confused, Braithwaite followed the crowd's gaze and saw a woman suddenly appear at the golden door leading to the elevator hall.

She was a stunningly beautiful young woman.

She was tall and slender, with a perfectly proportioned figure. Her satin-black hair was styled in a simple bun at the back of her head, making her look elegant and capable.

Her peacock blue imperial dress was impeccably tailored, revealing a glimpse of her fair and delicate skin, exuding generosity and wealth. Paired with the French-style painted folding fan in her hand, she looked like a noblewoman gracefully stepping out of the last century.

The visitor was Belvina Black, the head of the Public Information Office. Thanks to her family's inherited good looks, she was a rare beauty.

Her small, oval face has a soft contour and smooth lines, adorned with delicate features, giving her both feminine beauty and a touch of youthful charm.

Especially her pair of dark, sparkling eyes, which were as bright and captivating as if they were studded with diamonds.

As Belvina's footsteps drew closer, the photographer couldn't help but let out a sharp, piercing scream.

"That Gorgon running around like a madwoman! Is the Ministry of Magic out of ideas? Why is it always her?!"

Even so, the photographer, whose face clearly showed his despair, still diligently raised his camera and framed the despicable woman he hated so much into the lens.

"She's the really difficult one you guys were talking about?" Braithwaite, belatedly realizing what was happening, gaped in disbelief. "She looks so young! I thought she was just a junior intern!"

"It's her, Belvina Black!" the photographer gritted his teeth. "Getting any useful news from her is like asking the sun to rise in the west! Damn it, can't she just get out of the Ministry of Magic, even just transferred from the Public News Service would be better!"

As the photographer spoke, he frantically manipulated the camera, and amidst a puff of purple smoke, the black camera emitted a blinding flash.

Blake... Blake...

Betty Braithwaite accurately captured the key information: a surname that had frequently appeared in newspapers, one of the oldest and wealthiest pure-blood wizarding families in the British Isles.

What the hell!

It turns out he's a family with connections who used connections to pave the way!

How difficult can a spoiled young lady or a spoiled rich kid be? At most, she might be a bit arrogant and willful.

You can't believe a single word a reporter says; anyone who does is a brainless monster!

With this in mind, another article criticizing the corruption and darkness of the Ministry of Magic quietly took shape in Braithwaite's mind.

The still young and naive Betty Braithwaite may not have realized that the first watershed moment in her life is actually the amniotic fluid, but that doesn't stop her from disliking people who are labeled as having connections.

Some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouth, from a distinguished family; others are born as children of prophecy, destined to etch their names in the history of magic.

Just as the new female reporter was busy preparing her remarks, the press conference for the temporary reporters began smoothly under the guidance of Ministry of Magic employees.

Belvina Black stood on the makeshift podium, smiling at everyone.

Her smile was as warm as a spring breeze, but there was no smile in her dark eyes; her gaze was cold, frighteningly so.

Reporters present felt a chill run down their spines and began checking their prepared questions, crossing out the most pointed ones from the parchment.

After a year of getting to know each other, the reporters have gained a certain understanding of the youngest daughter of the Blake family.

When she's in a good mood, you might not get any useful information from her, but you'll still get along well with her. When she's in a bad mood, never provoke her, or she won't hesitate to give everyone a hard time.

Belvina Black clearly didn't seem happy tonight, perhaps because she had to work late, or perhaps for some other reason. In any case, it was a warning sign.

After being granted permission, one reporter asked the first question.

He asked, "Miss Black, does the Ministry of Magic have anything to say about the Gringotts trespassing incident that occurred earlier today?"

The questions were standard and predictable, yet they were precisely the topics that reporters were most interested in, and also the subject of tonight's impromptu press conference.

Before today, who could have imagined that Gringotts, hailed as "the safest place in the world," would be illegally broken into? The intruders not only moved freely through the heavily guarded Wizarding Bank, but they didn't even leave a trace.

It was an utter disgrace, and the Ministry of Magic was also humiliated.

"The Ministry of Magic is deeply concerned about the serious incident that occurred earlier today at Gringotts. The Minister himself went to the scene immediately to investigate and ordered the Department of Law Enforcement to apprehend the perpetrators as soon as possible and urged Gringotts to carry out security reforms."

In contrast to her cold gaze, Belvina's tone was casual and calm, as if she were talking about something insignificant.

This perfunctory official response was clearly unsatisfactory, and the reporter began to press for further questions after being given permission.

"Deeply concerned? Miss Black, this matter has had a very negative impact. It has not only severely damaged Gringotts' reputation but also caused public panic. People no longer believe that Gringotts can protect their wealth!"

What happens when a bank loses its credibility? Even a fool could guess the outcome—it's far from serious.

However, Belvina's answer was as perfunctory as ever: "Oh, yes. Of course, that's to be expected."

He then continued, "We understand the public's concerns, so the minister immediately convened an emergency high-level meeting. The main purpose of the meeting was to improve security in Diagon Alley, calm public panic, and protect public safety."

Belvina's answer remained superficial, essentially meaningless, failing to delve into the issue at all.

If you don't go deep, you're just scratching the surface; how can that possibly satisfy anyone?

The unsatisfied reporter wished he could pull out his wand and fire a Legilimency at Belvina to force her to answer his questions honestly.

Unfortunately, no one dared to do it. Even more unfortunately, even if someone did dare, they would most likely not succeed.

Because Belvina herself possessed many secrets, she had conducted in-depth research on Legilimency in order to better protect these secrets.

Left with no other choice, the reporter who asked the question had to change his approach and plead with Belvina in an almost humble tone, begging her to have some mercy and reveal a little bit of the substance so that everyone wouldn't go bald overnight when writing the news article.

"Okay—um—very good—Ms. Blake, could we discuss the details of the meeting a little?"

After the Gringotts Wizarding Bank incident, everyone knew that the Ministry of Magic would definitely hold an emergency meeting, and everyone knew that the Ministry of Magic wanted to catch the murderer as soon as possible.

If these well-known facts were published as news in the newspaper, angry readers might not dare to storm the Ministry of Magic, but they would certainly have the courage to curse the reporter's entire family.

To protect his family from the unwelcome greetings from newspaper readers, the reporter had to risk Belvina's potential death by relentlessly pressing her for answers.

Money is hard to earn, and shit... well, for some creatures, it's actually not so bad...

As the reporter pressed her for an almost pleading answer, Belvina looked embarrassed, awkwardly touching her earlobe as a blush spread across her cheeks.

Then, like a silly girl, Belvina muttered to herself, "Ah, yes—that's right, we should go into some details, otherwise you won't be able to explain yourselves."

Upon hearing this, the reporter who had been asking questions burst into tears, deeply moved.

Has this damned bastard finally changed her ways? Has she finally learned what kindness is?

The other reporters present also heard Belvina's "whispering" and, like sharks that have smelled blood, became highly focused, making the huge Ministry of Magic instantly so quiet you could hear a pin drop.

"After repeated discussions among the minister and the directors, a brand-new security plan was finally finalized."

Belvina spoke slowly, seemingly still debating whether she should reveal the details of the meeting to the reporters present.

She continued slowly, "The new plan is based on the existing security measures..."

Merlin's beard!

The sun is so round tonight!

If someone were to hold a contest like "Top Ten People Who Moved the Wizarding World" right now, the reporters present would definitely vote for Belvina with a high number of votes. Her long-awaited outpouring of kindness is truly touching!

Despite lingering doubts, the reporters' bodies moved before their minds, their shorthand quills and parchment eager to be used.

Everyone should have dreams, what if they come true?

Right...
